If you want to find the world's best avocado toast, or healthy refreshing drinks for adults and kids then The Maca Root is the place to go when visiting Cedar Point or passing through Downtown Sandusky. The Maca Root offers great healthy food options that are vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and paleo. They have the best breakfast wraps and tomato basil pesto grilled-cheese I've ever had. My three favorite smoothies are the pink dragon, the salty caramel, and the golden glow. They also have amazing coffees and lattes that are lower in sugar but still very tasty. The outdoor seating area is very cute! Highly recommend checking out The Maca. Hands down the best smoothies in the area. read more

We Yelped to see what vegan eats were in the area on her birthday, and she picked CR Juices. We ordered at their handy drive-thru window with the friendly and patient staff. After ordering, you just pull up into a pick-up spot, and they bring your food to your car when it is ready. Once we received our eats, we decided to park and eat on the patio, which had at least a half-dozen tables with umbrellas for shade in the hot sun. Our birthday girl had the jackfruit tacos. It included three tacos that were bountifully topped with vegan cheese and crisp veggies. The hubbs had a broth bowl, that was also a large portion and very flavorful and fresh. I went with the hummus wrap. My minor complaint is it could have been a bit heavier-handed on the hummus itself, but otherwise it was delicious. We shared an order of vegan nachos, served with vegan nacho cheese that was creamy and yummo! Our birthday girl daughter also had a Pretty in Pink smoothie that was vivid-hot-pink-AMAZING! And when it was all said and done, the hubbs went back inside to get a couple bottles of homemade juices to wash it all down, one was an orange juice mix, the other a green cleanse. We all had a taste, and the juices were clearly made with high-quality, fresh ingredients. If you are so lucky to live near CR Juices in wherever-this-is-in-Ohio, patronize this wonderful, local vegan establishment ASAP! I have had Toft's ice cream a couple of times before, but the scoop shop experience can always be different. This location is actually there headquarters, factory and the scoop shop. The building has a covered patio out front, there are some cow statues and an original dairy cart out front. Inside they have a large service area with a huge amount of flavors, plus coolers with packed ice cream and ice cream pies. I ordered a medium sized cup with Banana Foster and Caveman Chocolate ice creams. The cup was $7.50 which seemed a bit expensive until I saw the portion size, this was really about 4 scoops of ice cream. The ice cream is nice and smooth with a nice texture and mouthfeel. The banana foster ice cream was slightly sweet and had a mild banana flavor I did not taste the advertised burnt sugar swirl. The Caveman Chocolate was very good with a rich dark chocolate ice cream and a nice amount of chocolate truffles, although again I did not taste the thick fudge swirls. Toft's has some very good ice cream, the scoop shop lacks some of the charm of other ice cream places, not too surprising since it is part of the factory. The ice cream is a bit expensive, but the portions are big. Probably the most flavor choices I have seen at an ice cream place.
