They skirted around in giving us real prices and when I called them on it, Larry just tried to gaslight me and said I didn't understand how food prices work. This is NOT a regular delivery of fresh food as the name implies. You are basically just buying 6 months of extremely expensive, FROZEN meat in one delivery (had to buy a freezer too). There are many better options for higher quality, actually fresh food, at market prices!!

I don't always eat all my meals at home, so the number of meals I order depends on what's on the calendar for the week to come. Happy Penguin not only offers the flexibility of allowing me to pick and choose from their vast selection of meals - and order just as many or as few as I like, but their offerings are DIVERSE and DELICIOUS! Their deliveries are dependable (and the containers are recyclable). Bonus - I usually get two meals out of each Happy Penguin meal I buy, so it is an excellent value for the money as well. P.S. I LOVE the "Build Your Own Meal" option where you can choose your protein, your carb, your veggie and any sauces you might like!

There are pages of meals available on their site to choose from. I love being able to have a variety. Other meal prep places I have tried don't offer this kind of variety and I find that everything kind of tastes the same even when it's different. Not the case with Happy Penguin. And the portion sizes are very generous!! I freaked out the first week I ordered because the food was not cold when it was delivered, it even felt a little warm. I reached out to them and they let me know that they deliver right after they cook the food so it shouldn't be cold. Give them a try if you are looking for a meal prep service. You can do weekly plans which brings the price down a bit but you also can just order when you need or want it, no contract. Their pricing is also really good compared to other places I have tried.

My boyfriend and I went in thinking to ourselves, "we'll just try it for a few weeks", and we we've had our meals weekly from here for the past few months! We love it! We used to order from Freshly before and there really is no comparison. These meals taste home-cooked, while Freshly truly tasted like freezer meals. I also love the way I feel when I eat the food. The food feels fresh and wholesome in my body! I will say that the meals vary in size. We opted for the low carbohydrate 4 oz meal plan option so naturally, the meals are rather light. Some meals are a bit on the smaller side and I get hungry again in 90 minutes or so while some meals are larger and I am unable to eat it in one sitting. I do think some of the meals are lacking in salt/seasoning, but I just shake a little bit of "Everything but the Bagel Seasoning" from Trader Joe's and it does the job! The meals I enjoy most are the meals that include a sauce or meals with flavors that I know I enjoy. I do find that the meals that are simply a protein (ex: chicken) and a side of vegetables with no sauce are almost always dry. Overall, I highly recommend this service! There is such a variety in the foods week to week and day to day. The food is well cooked and tastes of quality. It feels good in my body and most importantly, I feel good knowing that I am eating good food!
