A fascinating, personal, and inspiring Denver experience I…read morecannot say enough positive things about my graffiti tour with Randy. His depth of knowledge is almost unbelievable--in the best way. He understands the artwork, the artists, Denver's history, the surrounding neighborhoods, and the cultural significance of graffiti and street art. He does not simply point out interesting pieces; he helps you understand the stories, people, and communities behind them. I learned so much and took more than 100 pictures along the way. Meeting Graham, a local artist, was an unexpected and amazing highlight that made the tour feel even more special. What stayed with me most was how the tour revealed Denver as a city filled with creativity, history, culture, and wonderful people. Randy was welcoming, thoughtful, engaging, and incredibly generous with his time and knowledge. Whether you already love graffiti and street art or are simply curious about Denver, take this tour. You will leave seeing the city--and the art around you--with new eyes.

In order to cover as much ground as possible, I scheduled the RiNo North tour (covers north side) and the happy hour tour (supposedly covers much of what the classic tour covers). Randy was my guide, and was a laid back, knowledgeable guy. I fancy myself a bit of a street art connoisseur and think I could have done a lot of this on my own if I had done some planning, but Randy did offer a lot of info I didn't know about the art community in Denver and various street art terms I wasn't familiar with. We made a brief stop during the North tour for bathroom and drink breaks. For the happy hour tour, you're supposed to stop at a brewery, but I was the only one on the tour, so Randy and I opted to keep checking out art instead of stopping. Once I started posting on instagram, I consulted the pages they provide so you can credit the artists. Looking through those pages for all three tours, I really think the original gives you the most bang for your buck. If I could do it over, I would have just scheduled that one, then spread out on my own. Tours are around 32 bucks each. You can only book them if at least two people have booked, which is the minimum. I got the solo happy hour tour because I booked two tickets (I'm an anxious planner and was willing to pay extra to have it locked in on my schedule). Each tour covers about two miles and lasts around two hours. Worthwhile tour where you'll see some great street art, learn about the Denver art community, and get to know more about the town itself.

The husband and I have done Segway tours in a number of cities, so it's become a go-to activity for…read moreus whenever we visit somewhere. Because hello, Segways are a TON of fun, and a great way to get up close to attractions without having to walk or being stuck on a bus! However, this tour in particular wasn't one of the better ones we've been on. Because the storage/training area is in a parking garage, you meet your guide outside a nearby restaurant so they can take you into the alley and down to the secret Segway closet (seriously DOWN a massive ramp, which may be intimidating for inexperienced riders). The instructions explicitly state that restrooms are available inside the restaurant...but for a 10am tour, they're not open yet. Luckily, the Panera next door was happy to give us the code for their restrooms. The Segways themselves have obviously seen WAY better days. Our guide apologized for being late due to having to inflate the tires, but the handlebars were banged up, my Segway made a constant clanking/rattling noise from one wheel, and the guide ended up riding one with a low battery because no others with fully inflated tires were available. The available helmets were in similar rough condition. While our guide was friendly enough, knew the basic spiels for the stops, and even texted me in advance of the tour to confirm we knew where we were going (and when he was running late), he also seemed pretty lackadaisical (although pleasant) and didn't wear a helmet. I was also annoyed that, for some reason, we didn't receive the waivers via email ahead of time, so we had to fill them out on the guide's phone. In hindsight, he wasn't checking anything, so I should've just lied and said we'd already signed... On the upside, we were the only two people signed up, so we got a longer tour and more stops that we would have otherwise. Since we've ridden Segways before, we also got to skip the training -- we just hopped on and demonstrated that yup, we know what we're doing. A vast improvement over watching 10+ people slowly get the hang of it! And of course, we really enjoyed seeing a wide variety of Denver spots up close and personal, and learning at least a little bit about some of them. So while you can't ever really go wrong with a Segway tour, definitely head into this one with open eyes about what to expect.

You meet at the visitor center at 16th and California where you will get an individual tutorial on how to ride the Segway before heading off on the tour. I'm so glad they did the tutorial one person at a time, so give us a chance to get really comfortable on the Segway before we committed to two hours of zipping around the town. Our tour guys did a great job breaking down how to safely operate the Segway and I immediately was comfortable and ready to go! We zipped around checking out the sites and our guides did a great job navigating downtown during both a Rocky's game and the taste of Colorado! Crowds everywhere and there were no problems. My favorite part of the tour was when we were really cruising down the sidewalk parallel with the Platt river. I lived in downtown Denver for five years, but moved away six years ago so it was great seeing how much of it changed and what stayed the same. The guide and I had a fun time comparing facts and information about different historical spots in Denver. You can have up to 4 people in your tour group, and there is a guide in front and in back so we stay together as a group. Their website says they may be able to accommodate larger groups if you call way in advanced, but the standard is up to four. I had a lot of fun and would highly recommended this to both tourists and locals! Thanks Brandon and Jake for the fun tour!

I had a little fun finding paintings of judgmental looking people and making a "we listen and we judge" instagram post. All the rooms are large and well curated/presented. I visited on a Tuesday and it was free (I still donated). On regular days, admission is 30 dollars, but gets you into all three museums, including the Kirkland (reviewed separately), which is right next door. I'm going to let the pictures speak for themselves as far as the variety available at this museum.

Designed specifically to display Clyfford Still's work, this "small" museum (as many of my museum colleagues would call it) is actually quite large - enough for a few hours of wondering... The building itself is a beautiful and perfectly complements the art collection's scale, themes, and colors. I was told it has over 3000 pieces (over 90%) of the artist's works; and he believed the best way to experience an artist's work was by seeing it all in one place. It was indeed a great experience to be submerged in such an environment -- you feel so much more who he was and what he wanted to express. Must give this "small" museum a BIG applause! Everything was nicely done and it was a great pleasure to visit. AND, their website (https://clyffordstillmuseum.org/) is absolutely amazing! I've seen many museums' websites and theirs is the first one where I saw "Accessibility Adjustments" tool (look for the small person in a circle at the lower left corner) that helps people with different challenges. Bravo!! P.S. This review is from a draft I did in 2024, so quite late in publishing. I lost the photos I took so the following photos are from their websites.

We narrowed it down to Rome and Tuscany, and then began pricing the different hotels, tours, rental cars, etc. By happenstance I heard a radio ad for Che Bella Tours and realized that they offered exactly what we were looking for in Italy -without any of the hassle! Che Bella's inclusive tours provide accommodations in a very nice Rome hotel, a gorgeous villa in Tuscany and a combination of meals at great restaurants throughout. We could not have been more pleased with our experience. Sandy Gregory our tour operator was really helpful, responsive and enthusiastic from the very beginning. She gave us good advice about choosing flights, and sent us a packing guide, too. In Italy, Sandy proved to be just as knowledgeable about the history, art and customs as the professional guides who led us on our private tours of the Vatican and the famous cathedrals and duomas in Tuscany. Each day, as we headed towards another beautiful medieval town, Sandy would give us a break-down of the day ahead, and give us options for exploring, shopping and dining with a scale of being totally on our own or having her along as a guide and/or lunch dinner companion. It was great to be able to wander around by ourselves, trying our Italian out and discovering the magic of each place on our own, and also to have Sandy meet up with us at certain times to check in and give us more insights or advice about places to see. The guides that Sandy arranged for our private tours were art history experts and they really opened up the experience of each place for us. It can be a bit overwhelming to be surrounded by so much Renaissance art, so a knowledgeable guide is really important. Plus, we were whisked to the front of the very long lines to see the Vatican museum in Rome and The David in Florence! The hotels where we stayed were wonderful, especially the villa in San Gimignano. I still dream about it! The surrounding vineyards and olive tree groves, the beautiful pool, the wonderful breakfasts and elegant dining. I fell in love with that place. Che Bella Tours gives you a couple of days to be on your own and do nothing if you want, and we spent a very enjoyable afternoon lounging beside the hotel pool, drinking Rose' and taking in the spectacularly beautiful views. One of the highlights of our trip was the cooking class in Certaldo that Sandy arranged for us. We learned to make fresh pasta, osso bucco and a dessert, and we had so much fun in the process then enjoyed a delicious meal at the end that we had prepared ourselves! As soon as I returned home I ordered a pasta maker as we are forever spoiled by the amazing pasta that was our daily staple in Italy. If you have an opportunity to take a Che Bella Tour - do it! The experience offered is so rich. It is not just a tour, but a true appreciation and immersion in the culture and art and lifestyle of the country you are visiting.
