This isn't really the place to come if you're looking for a giant backpack for your trip to…read moreBolivia. But it is very nice. Catering to stylish and/or professional travellers, Leigh St Luggage is more up-market. If you have the cash to buy luggage here, you will be rewarded as the stock is genuinely good quality. No sticky zips and shonky roller handles. The store itself is very nicely taken care of and the female proprietor I encountered on my visit was friendly and helpful. My mother was having a look around, and was able to ask questions about the differences between models and get very comprehensive answers. Which is what ya want if you're shelling out. I probably wouldn't buy luggage here unless I was travelling regularly, probably in a business capacity. That said, they do have a really nice range of casual satchels and backpacks, most of which come in good quality leather.

Fellow travellers will know the pain of trying to find good quality, hard wearing, durable yet aesthetically pleasing travel goods. Everything has huge logos! Crappy hardware! Use-once-and-it's-broken zips! No personality! Which pretty much leaves the frequent flyer one option: quality leather luggage. Leigh Street Luggage does this in spades: large, subtly designed carry ons, topnotch suitcases, leather passport holders and accessories. They also have some sweet vintage suitcases and satchels which are majorly pricey but cute to look at anyway. While the prices are rather on the steep side, you get what you pay for when it comes to luggage and if you fly a lot it's totally worth it in the long term. The store is a pleasure to browse as well - stacks of Monocle magazines, vintage satchels, box cameras, old school maps.. it's all very 'Darjeeling Limited' meets British Museum and I consider this a very good thing.
