This was a great tour. Rocky had knowledge of the land, the culture, and lot about the history of Santa Fe. This tour was definitely worth it. He was very personal, very engaging and was open to it questions. Highly recommend and if you're lucky to have Rocky that's a plus!! Unfortunately, I did not take any pictures. First let me say that tour itself was well worth the time and money because you saw a lot of places you wouldn't see otherwise because you simply wouldn't know about them. The guide was knowledgeable about the history but there were times it would have been nice for some silence to just take in the sights. If you're a first time visitor like we were then you should for sure take this trip. Now for the down side. They don't take reservations so it's first come first serve. Some people missed out which having an on line presence could have prevented. Second we were told they picked up at the Lorreto Chapel, they don't so we had to dash over several streets to catch the tour. They only take cash, having a web site could eliminate that. There were some who didn't have money, just plastic. Word of caution, these buses are difficult to get in and out of, they are like trolly cars. Great way to see the major sites of Santa Fe, from the Plaza, to Canyon Rd To museum hill to orient you to the city. Some good history lessons. Driver was easy to hear but may irritate some tourists with his attitude. Cons: not well organized. Website is horrible. They Don't take reservations or credit cards (need $25 cash each). They cancelled the Loretta Church location at noon and sent us over to the hotel for the 12:30 tour. Almost 2 hours for $25 is not bad value but you just ride, you do not explore any locations. I have mixed feelings about this tour. Let's talk about the not-so-good first. Make sure you bring cash because they don't take cards. You can't pay online, either. And bring extra cash because the driver reminds you upfront that he's expecting a $10 tip. A vast majority of the tour was pointing out the buildings we passed. This on your left, that on your right. No explanation, history, fun facts. Nada. Well, I shouldn't say totally nada... but pretty darn close. No interaction with the passengers except for initially asking where we are from. I was so looking forward to hearing about all the amazing and interesting history of this beautiful city. My husband thought his driving was substandard but I kind of enjoyed it. Now the good stuff. It was a beautiful summer day and the sunshine and warm breezes were glorious. We definitely hit many places that we'd never get to on our own. Still don't know anything about them, but they sure were pretty. As I handed the driver his $10, I gave him another tip. How about trying to fill the lengthy dead time with stories, etc. I wouldn't even care if he made them up. Nope, not interested. 10-9-23 Poor communication, no customer service. On the website, the tours are 3 times a day, every day during the season. I called to see if I needed cash to purchase my ticket. Never was able to reach a real person, just a message on a loop which said they were CLOSED ON TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY = different than the information on the website. We arrived in Santa Fe & went to 100 E. San Francisco St to wait for the 2:30 pickup time per the website. When we arrived we started chatting with another group who had been waiting. They said that "some guy" had come by & said the last pick up was 1:30 & at the Loretto Chapel. Just in case, we waited until 2:30, no one showed up, no explanation, nothing anywhere saying there was any changes. Very disappointing! read more

This tour was a Great way to see Santa Fe! I really enjoyed it and recommend for everyone to check it out! 1. They have several tours running a day and you do not need to buy tickets in advance. There is signage around town of where to wait for the tour bus. So convenient! 2. They provide blankets on the bus in case you get cold which is super nice. 3. The tour guide is really informed and points out great things to do and visit while you are in Santa Fe. THE REASON FOR THE 4 AND NOT THE 5 4.the tickets are $15 per person which is a lil steep for just an hour! 5. We could have had a few stops to look and browse at shops or different things. read more

The Loretto Line - Tours Near Me - Santa Fe, New Mexico

Ok... So... do this tour the First day you go to Santa Fe... not the last day (like I did). Just sayin' ... it might help you decide which direction to go in if you don't know where you want to start in terms of Art Viewing / Buying. My mom and I found the tour to be a really good overview of all that Santa Fe has to offer.... from art to history to architecture and how it all blends together to make Santa Fe.... Santa Fe. Plus, the tour goes by/through Canyon Road which is a whole other side of town with tons of art shops that we didn't have time to go to, but they looked fabulous. And it goes up the hill a ways (I believe it was Old Santa Fe Trail) where you can see how picturesque the area is... and you go by a museum too (but you just drive by - you don't stop)... but at least you find out it's there and can go back if you make time for it. (Again.. we didn't... Darn. Next time.) The tram itself fits 20. That's snug with 4 people per row. They even give you a blanket to use if it's chilly outside. The tour is about an 75-80 minutes. It's not like it takes up all day, so it's totally worth it if you've never been to Santa Fe or New Mexico for that matter. Had a really terrible experience the other day. We left for the 2:30 tour outside of the La Fonda Hotel. I have a 5 month old baby. We and my mother in law drove an hour and a half to go on this tour, and we walk up to the trolley and the tour guide (Dave) looked at us and said "baby's don't do well on this. They are a distraction." I believe that's discrimination. Totally HIS opinion. Nowhere on the website does it say that children aren't welcomed, or kids under a certain age. We went on the tour anyway as it was the last tour of the day and we were only in Santa Fe for the day. Despite there being ample room, he would not allow us to store the stroller on the trolley. We had to pay the hotel to hold it for us. He also charged the full admission price for my 5 month old. My baby cried once on the tour for about 30 seconds (maybe) as I was mixing the formula in his bottle. That's it. The entire one hour and 15 minute tour. And the tour guide continued to make rude comments throughout the tour. Being a mom is hard enough. And on the very rare occasion that I get to leave the house, it was really upsetting to be treated so badly. Besides this, he was just an awful guide. He pointed out pretty unremarkable things. I guess he likes politics because that's about all he talked about. My mother in law had taken this tour before with a different guide and she loved it. We waited to take the tour until our last day here and I wish I had taken the advice from other reviewers and gone first. Santa Fe is not the most intuitive to navigate and there's a lot of residential areas interspersed with everything else. Mental mapping around with the trolley helped me get a better sense of layout. Also it was pretty great for Pokemon Go if you're interested in catching one of the many Drowsee around town. While the tour was educational, it wasn't thorough about any one aspect of town to really say I learned a lot, but you get a little taste for history, culture, architecture, pop culture. It made me want to go borrow a bunch of library books. Some of the views were lovely, the drive up Canyon Road, and through a couple neighborhoods were sight-seeing at its purest. I'm going to have to see if my kind of desert can grow some of the plants we saw around. Our host wasn't huge on schmoozing the riders, either, so other than a brief, "Where's everybody from?" it was talking about the town. read more

We were only in Santa Fe for the day and saw this tour to get an overview of the city. Scheduled at about 75 minutes, my friend and I were easily the youngest on the tour (hosted by veterans), but totally fun. The open-air tram picks you up near the plaza by the La Fonda Hotel, seats about 20 folks and offers blankets for the breezy ride. You get to listen about history, art, fun facts, and can't miss sites. Go through Canyon Road, check out museums, some other galleries and churches from the road (at least you could see what you might go back to visit). A fun little tour - you'll like it! read more

Turns out they don't run when it's 50 degrees and spitting rain. Luckily, I pressed 0 after listening to their recording about how they run DAILY just to confirm: got no apology and no information about when they might actually run a tour. Just "maybe, I don't know." This is pretty lame: the drivers don't come in when it rains? Or they come to work and sit inside? Do they just not earn any income on cloudy cool days? I was pretty unimpressed, and called Clarice who gave a lovely, very personal tour. She answered the phone herself and came right over, with enthusiasm. Postscript: saw Loretto Line tram tours running at the very time the guy who answers the phone told me they were not. Get a new phone guy!!! This is a very bad way to run a business. Our tour guide was both full of history & information but had a good sense of humor. My friend & I enjoyed our tour and gained some new insights on the hx. of Santa Fe. We liked the stop at Museum Hill and the bronze statues. I have taken bus/trolley tours in more than a dozen cities. I would suggest this one. We stopped to ride the trolley on Friday. We found a parking lot and pulled in to ask the driver about the tour and he said he was about ready to leave and had tickets left. Then he very rudely said "but you cant park here, you have to move". We asked where we could park and again very rudely said "i dont know. There are parking lots all around but you cant park in this one - its private". He wouldn't answer any of our questions and just kept repeating "you cant park here!!" We left to go to the visitors center to see if we could find out what we needed to do but it wasn't open so we just left. Dont know if the tour was actually any good or not but the driver was certainly rude and obnoxious! read more

Anytime I visit a new city I try to find a city tour to help me get orientated. Many may think these tours are a waste of time, but not me. I have almost always left the tour knowing the city better, and having a more clear idea of where I want to go, and what I want to do. This tour was alright. The vehicle was fine. The blankets were a very nice touch, and the driver/guide seemed to really know his stuff. The one thing I'd suggest to the tour company is to tighten things up. Either make the tour shorter, or reduce the number of times the tour halts so the driver can tell a story. There were at least four times during the 75 - 90 minute trip where the driver pulled to the side of the road and told stories/explained history. I admit, the city is small, but when I'm on a city tour, I want to spend as much time as I can moving around seeing things, not sitting still, parked next to a bronze sculpture hearing about the history that piece of art represents. There may also be restrictions on where tour vans can travel in town. If that's the case, just reduce the tour time to 60 minutes and/or perhaps offer it as a hop on, hop off experience. Total waste of time and money. It's more of a marketing tour than a city tour. Along with a little bit of the history and culture of Santa Fe, our guide showed us the best restaurants and galleries to visit, ensuring us that if we visited one in particular and mentioned his name, we were sure to get a discount. Joking or not, that's not what I expect from my tour guide. Nor do I care to hear about the guide's politics and attitudes toward city policies. The 90 minute tour could have been done in 30 minutes if the guide cut out all his editorializing. Not worth a dime and not recommended. read more

Great tour! Learned many things I didn't know about Sante Fe! Get to the tour starting point 30 min early and pay your driver. Do not walk around, do not leave the area. Watched many people who were disappointed as they showed up early but left in the absence of a bus or driver. They returned only to find the tour sold out. Get there early and hang out! read more

My wife and I were the youngest people on the tour, but didn't feel out of place. Stan, our driver, was very sharp and witty for his age, and showed us a lot of neat things. He was also a good source of advice in places to eat afterwards. We lucked out on the nice weather, so I guess that's part of the reason for the good review. The tram was nice and smooth. The seats could use some cushioning, but we took breaks and made stops enough to stretch out and allow feeling back in our butts. We'd do it again. read more

This was a fun little tour of Santa Fe. It lasted about an hour and fifteen minutes and the tour vehicle held about 24 people I think. We got there about 20 minutes before it started and there was plenty of room. We learned a lot about the city and the history, as well as the current culture. Fun! read more

I asked some basic questions to the tram/tour guide. He was bit short with us but we wanted to get a good overview of Santa Fe so we bought tickets from him. He told us to return by 10:20am to start the 10:30 tour. We went into the French bakery at La Fonda and came out 10:10 and the tram was almost full. We said there is no space for our family of 4. He said it seats 4 person per row. Well, majority of the people were overweight so 4 in a row is NOT a realistic seating arrangement. So my family split up and Squeezed into the so called "empty" seats. My 8 year old and teenage daughter said it was a tight and uncomfortable fit for them as well. Anyways, the tour guide (Dave or John???) was not a good tour guide, and his jokes weren't funny. So it was a pretty miserable hour and 15 minutes. read more

I would NOT recommend this tour company at all. At 12:30 p.m. on Monday, October 7th, my party of TEN people made a reservation and PAID for the 3 p.m. tour on the same day. When we arrived back at 2:45 to board the shuttle, we were told that the driver had accepted six people who had "MISSED" the 1 p.m. tour they had paid for, so he HAD to take them, and he didn't have room for us. BUT he'd let us transfer the $150 we paid to a tour the next day. TWO things: We were leaving that afternoon so couldn't transfer to the next day, and IF we could've, we wouldn't have because of this BAD business practice. DON'T USE THEM! read more

Had a great experience on the Loretto Line tour. Guide was informative, cheerful and friendly. Excellent mix of the history of Santa Fe, restaurant/shopping suggestions, little bit of celebrity "gossip" in Santa Fe and couple of stops to get out and go inside churches, art installations, etc. Definitely a must-do. Learned a great deal about the history of Santa Fe and the different cultures represented in the missions and homes. read more
