In order to get to your gate at the Montreal Airport (YUL) you have to walk through the Duty Free Shop. There are many Canadian goodies to bring back as gifts or for yourself including: Maple Syrup, Chocolates, Mugs, Signature Ice Wine and Ice Cider, Liquors, High End Cosmetics, Perfumes, etc. I brought back some wonderful Ice Wine and Ice Cider which Canada is famous for. Also purchased a Canadian Mug, Chocolates, and Maple Syrup. A bit pricey-but well worth the splurge.

I travel fairly often and always look forward to shopping at the airport. Last time I travelled, there was a live promotion in the liquor area which really created an upbeat atmosphere and I even got some tips on how to create some awesome cocktails (way cheaper than SAQ btw). It's something nice to do after the stress of checking-in and security etc. I especially love the perfume and makeup area where they have a great selection of high end brands at fantastic prices. I always stock up on my makeup essentials (and treats) here. This is where my vacay starts!

The rudest cashier I've ever dealt with.  When I asked to speak to a manager, she said she was the manager.

The Loop Duty Free YUL has to be my favorite Duty Free store that I have visited across all my travels.

It's a good-sized airport but still very easy to navigate and completely walkable. The airport appears to have been recently updated (almost new) with a sleek and modern design throughout. What stood out most to me was how empty it felt both on arrival and departure. There were plenty of open seats, not crowded at all. The biggest downside was the food selection, especially in the U.S. terminal. There were only a couple dining options and one lounge with fairly underwhelming food offerings. That said, gates and flight information were easy to find, and overall the airport functions efficiently and smoothly. Next time I'd probably get my own food before heading to the airport, but otherwise it does exactly what you need it to do.
