The Long Goodbye, drawing its name from the Raymond Chandler novel and film of the noir genre is a new bar in the hub of the darlinghurst dining precinct. Themed to fit perfectly in the film noir 40's-50's decades, it boasts home made liquors which are produced into inventive cocktails, based on your particular taste preferences.
Owners Flynn and Dennis have a passion for cocktail making and certainly extremely knowledgeable all things drink related.
Make your way upstairs and find yourself in a dimly lit room, vintage interiors, wallpaper, couches and lounges and candles to give the space an intimate feel. There's also live jazz music on Thursday nights.
The bar has an outrageous amount of liquors lined up. Let the bar staff know of your flavour preferences and they'll mix up a concoction for you.
I mentioned that I liked 'fruity flavours' and I got a drink that used passion fruit liquor and cardamon, amazingly refreshing.
We also had a taste of the chestnut rye old fashioned.
Bar staff Kirsten also made us a drink using prickly pear, capsicum, chilli and lime, such interesting flavours that worked really well together.
There's no menu, no set price but around $18 based on the alcohol in the drink. Pop on in for a cool vibe and not to be missed in the darlinghurst bar scene. read more
