This place offers spectacular views of the valley and beyond. There is some campsites and most of them have tree shade, the one with the nice views of the valley offers no shade, our site had shade and it looked like it was just rake cleaned. The best part was that even thought is close to the road, barely any cars went by, so no noise at all Also there was this black flies looking insect maybe gnats, all around us, not a big deal they behave and we keep our food well protected. All sites have a picnic table but not all have a fire pit. We have an annual interagency pass and it works here. * picnic table and fire pit * no potable water, bring all you will need * pit toilets Enjoy!

It felt like staying at a family member's home. We arrived on a Thursday afternoon. Part of the…read moredrive there from LA included some winding roads, so I recommend planning your arrival time to be before sunset so you can drive while there's still daylight. Jim was there to meet us and show us our room. We got The Cowboy Room on the second floor (no live cowboys included! ) which we selected so that we could have separate beds. The room was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. There were no other guests, so we had the whole floor to ourselves. It was super quiet and peaceful. I imagine it would be different if there was a house full guests. Jim gave us suggestions on things we could do and places to visit. He also gave us the code for the door, the wifi password, and warnings about bears. We opted to walk around the area and enjoyed a fantastic dinner at The Perch restaurant just a few minutes walk down the road. Coffee was available at 8 the next morning, Adriana made breakfast ready by 830am. We had eggs in hash brown cups, sausages, maple scones, toast with a variety of spreads, and fresh orange juice. Everything was delicious. Sorry I didn't take pictures, I was too busy eating! I was able to eat everything on the table. I had mentioned our list of food allergies upon reserving online and also emailed the list closer to the date. The communication was excellent. I would love to stay at Old Bear B n B again. Thank you, Jim and Adriana, for making us feel so comfortable and welcome.

The hot, homemade breakfast prepared by Adriana each morning far exceeded our expectations--so much more than the standard continental breakfast. Every dish was made with care and felt truly special. Both Adriana and Jim were exceptional hosts--warm, welcoming, and incredibly accommodating. They made us feel less like guests in their own home and more like part of their extended family. Their charm and genuine hospitality set this place apart. While a bit of light maintenance could be done in some areas, it's easily overshadowed by the outstanding service and the overall experience. We're so glad this was our first BnB stay--it set the bar high!

I was debating between a "boutique motel" nearby (which means investors buy up an old motel, give…read moreit a facelift and charge 7 times more per night) and a "real motel", i.e., Topper's Motel, the genuine article. Having spent many summers crossing back and forth across the country, I have much experience with motels and Topper's is tops. Skip the boutique and stay at the real thing. Sparkling clean, this motel offers coffee-making equipment, mini-fridge, microwave and hairdryer in each room. Basic toiletries are included (hand soap, body gel and shampoo.) The beds are comfy. The bath linens are adequate, including a bath mat. The air conditioner had already been turned on at check-in, so the room was cool and comfortable. The grounds are pleasant, old-school motel, with ample parking right in front of your room. It gets hot in Taft, so the pool is a welcome respite. Cable TV is offered with hundreds of channels. It's not luxe but it is great, especially when you're saving hundreds of dollars. Highly recommended.

This small city has other accommodations that are a lot better, but for us this motel offered a great value and stay, having the floors tiled is a great plus. Amenities offered are In room coffee maker, microwave and mini fridge Iron and ironing board Complimentary wi-fi Tiled floors, no nasty carpet Small motel size tv Parking right in front of your door This motel isn't fancy, is just a place to rest for the night and as a customary practice I always bring cleaning wipes to wipe down everything.
