    After reading Tamara M.'s ROTD for The Loft, I became intrigued and went on-line to see what this place was all about. Living in Mid Town, the closest Loft location is at Laird and Eglinton - most classes here seem to take place during the day (when most of us without a trustfund are at work). Luckily, Longo's offers their cooking classes at various locations around the GTA. I attended a cooking class last night at the York Street location. From 7:00 to 8:30, I learned about foods for optimum health (incorporating good foods into your diet, how to ensure a proper functioning immune system etc.). It's a small space so I assume that classes are usually not that big. The class I attended had three students (myself included), which was great! Some perks: - small classes - reasonable fees - information and recipe package provided - free parking I will definitely check out other classes here. Yay, I'm a fan.

The class was 2 hours long and there was 10 other people with us. We made Pot Stickers, BBQ Pork Puffs, Sweet & Sour Wontons and Baked Shrimp with Sriracha Aioli sauce Chef Florence showed us how to make the filling for each dish and we got to rotate around four stations to wrap the pot stickers ( made with pork filling), bbq pork puffs, and wontons (made with pork filling). We also got to coat the shrimp in panko (Japanese bread crumbs) and put them on skewers. I liked that Florence asked us to rotate through all the stations so we got to learn how to cook each dish. After we finished cooking, we got to eat our creations and was provided with a glass of wine with the meal. You won't get full on this and will most likely need to eat before or after the class, but I enjoyed it because we learned some neat things! We paid $45 each for this class and found it to be worth it. Chef Florence was strict, but also funny. She used a blend of English and Chinese techniques to make and cook the food. For those of you that are vegetarians or cannot eat pork - this is NOT the class for you as pork was used in 3 out of 4 dishes!

Florence had a warm and funny demeanour and I found her class UTTERLY entertaining. She taught me a few things as well. I really enjoyed this class and the food was outstanding too. I attend George…read moreBrown's culinary arts program (for fun) and all of the classes i have taken here are fantastic. You get to keep all the food you make in the culinary arts classes so i usually attend classes on the weekend. The classes also double as my meal prep session for the upcoming work week. I suggest attending a sunday morning class (if possible) to all part time students because street parking is free on sunday mornings. The quality of the ingredients are superb. I remember learning how to fillet fish and the seafood came from Diana's seafood. The butter we used is from sterling creamery. The salmon we used to barbecue was sashimi grade so our instructor made us ceviche with the leftover salmon! You can definitely taste the quality of the ingredients that are provided in your classes. The instructors i've had are patient, laid back and funny. I think my three favorite elective courses would be BBQ, Indian cooking, and Thai cooking. The introduction to culinary arts course (compulsory course) gave me the confidence to attempt more difficult recipes and different types of cuisines at home. The course covers the fundamentals of cooking and is well worth the investment (even if you are not interested in the culinary program). I cannot wait till social distancing rules are lifted and GB offers culinary classes again. For now, i will read the course outlines and drool while deciding what to take next.

Are all super passionate about what they do and are very experienced. They are down to earth and funny people. They were super welcoming and created a super friendly and casual environment for everyone. There were a few couples that attended, one came with his mum celebrating a birthday, another came with a friend, one person came alone all ages ranging from young to older adult. The class was well organized and I was engaged throughout the class. Dont worry if you suck at cooking, they are attentive and walk you through every step. They also teach the types of cannabis, recipes, the science and math behind the cooking - these people know what they're doing and I learned so much! We got to take home 6 pop tarts each and a 50+ of gummy bears to last me some time. The poptart was so good, like a butter cookie pop tart reheated it in the oven a week later and was still delicious. So even if you don't plan on cooking more, you get to take home a bunch of delicious cannabis goodies which is well worth it! Would definitely go back and I highly recommend!

Josh explained how to break down exactly how much THC is in your treat Vanessa is awesome, anything you need to know about any recipes she is there to help and will explain to you exactly what to do. Vanessa will give you her phone number so you can call her if your stuck in the middle of making your infused goodies. You make two types of treats and you get to take them home. How awesome is that all for $125! This includes the class with all instruments and the treats and best of all you don't need to take any notes at all, Vanessa will send you all notes, calculations and recipes. Go with your spouse, partner or with friends, either way its so much fun and so cool! I had a blast. I tell all my friends about Cannabis Cooking Company! Go and enjoy Mary.
