Lego is my favorite toy on earth and I'm glad they have a store all over the world. Even I don't really shop at the store anymore unless they have a special activity or the set that out of stock online, I still like to visit Lego store in another location. Every store has a small - large section of different display depending on the state and where they are. The rest of display will be on a seasonal or them that they just release. You know coming to Ala Moana for so long, I've always just skipped passed this store until my love for Lego's were reignited lol. I've been here plenty of times and have been helped by the most friendliest people ever! Although yesterday definitely stood out more than usual. You see I came here to buy some gifts and look for baseplates for my mini figs. Unfortunately they don't sell the size I need but that's okay because I ended up making my own out of the loose bricks in the back, whatever you can fit $9.99 for the small box, sorry idk what the bigger box price is. Needless to say deals anyway! Now the Lego store apart from your local Walmart, or Target is different. They have selections of keychains, pens (by the register) some other unique items, and the brick heads which I've only ever seen at the Lego store. I was helped by Noah, he was the coolest dude ever! Building creativity... Never grew up with legos though now the elevation of uniqueness is just something to behold. I've come here to the Ala Moana Center location a few times for gifts as they have a great choices of sets in different sizes and prices with many many collaboration with Disney, Star Wars, Marvel and even Gaming like Minecraft, Super Mario and Sonic just to name a few the choices are exhausting to decide. In the back there's a wall filled with various shapes of bricks looking more like a statement wall, one that I wouldn't mind having for kicks and giggles but is a fun way to build your collection or to just get inspired, as the building bricks to imagination is a bright and vibrant thing to have and one day I will get myself a set that calls to me. I was passing by the Lego Store when I was at the shopping center today and the window display stopped me dead in my tracks. They had a beautiful display of a bouquet of roses that took my breath away. To top it off they had a sign that said if you spent $85 you'd get a free Chinese dragon for the year of the dragon. Dang, they got me. I was there a little before they opened and this guy walked up to the door who was also waiting for them to open. He started telling me that he was there the other day and the bouquet of roses were sold out. They only restocked today and he didn't want to miss it. I had no idea that they were that popular. The store finally opened and I went in and browsed around. The bouquet of roses was $59.99 and I needed to buy something else to make the $85 for the free dragon. There it was calling out to me. It was the Chinese orange tree for the new year. Orange symbolizes good luck and wealth in the Chinese culture. Mandarin oranges is called kam in Chinese which also sounds like the world gold. Having mandarin oranges around the home during Chinese New Year will bring riches into your life. The cashier asked me if I wanted to sign up for their free loyalty program and that today was double points. I said great and he signed me up . He also gave me a free red envelope for the year of the dragon. It was so nice. I'm working on putting the Legos together. I'll post a pic when I'm done. Well I got off to a rough start. I haven't touched a LEGO brick since small kid time. Back then, the pieces were much larger and mostly just primary colors! So my initial attempt to put together the mini dragon set was somewhat of a debacle lol. I mismatched pieces and I needed to redo a number of steps. The brick colors were bright and beautiful. I don't recommend starting this at night. I lost sleep over this one. After getting some zzz's, I tackled this dragon in the morning! I realized I missed breakfast and lunch by the time I got the hang of it and completed the fire breathing (me) dragon lol. I laughed myself silly thinking back to the days when I "yelped" out loud as I stepped on one the the bricks with my bare feet. Great memories. Great fun. Starting on the Jade Rabbit set soon. What do you want me to say? It's a LEGO STORE! The workers are super polite and honestly a bit awkward, in that endearing way that passionate LEGO fans often are. They're always helpful, and when you mention a LEGO set they appreciate, their enthusiasm shines through, making me feel less guilty about being a huge fan of LEGOs myself. The store is stacked with LEGO sets, and they constantly receive new products. Their store-specific displays are impressive, and I love seeing both kids and adults get excited over them. I've spent some time waiting in line to get in since it's a small location, but it clearly has a lot of love from locals and visitors alike. I really wish they had more store/location specific sets, but that's more of an upper management decision than something these great employees can fulfill. read more

My son and husband really love Legos! Definitely a lot of changes since I remember the plain Lego blocks as a child. At that time there was only the basic rectangle block, but now there are people, Legos in many different shapes and colors, flowers, cars.... Yes I know I'm showing my age here, but I'm really not that old! After all these years, Legos are even more popular than ever! It's fun that they have so many different sets that will keep just about everybody happy. Harry Potter sets, Star Wars sets, and more recently in the last few years the Chinese New Year's sets. I think we have all of the Chinese New Year's sets that started coming out about three or four years ago. And it's so fun to see my son immersed in his culture. This store is located at the Ala Moana shopping center on the third floor. It's a relatively small store, but they have a lot packed in here. Definitely a favorite for my son! I came in to check out these little Lego characters in a clear acrylic box with ear phones on them. You download an application to create your own little videos with your character. Interesting stuff... However, I was browsing before Lego sales clerk came up showing me her collection. Then, she showed how to utilize the software for fun set up music groups or band. While still trying browsing, she presented a damaged top of a box of giant Yoda and 20% off. Then afterwards, she pops a Harry Potter damaged box in front of me too. I guess she wants to sell me something or she's attention seeking?. But I ended up buying Yoda. Oh well?! It has a million pieces and keep me busy for a long long time. Such a joy coming in the store. Used to play and build legos when I was younger and the nostalgic always hits when entering. We came because we were looking for the Lego flower bouquet. They were all old out at target and Walmart but we obviously forgot about the Lego store. Luckily, the staff was able to help us and check the back of one. They were also helpful with helping me sign up for Lego VIP. I've only gone in and looked at the Lego Sets especially the Cinderella Castle, Main Street USA Station Railroad Set, Hogwarts Castle Set, Hogsmeade Village, Diagon Alley and more of the Harry Potter Set. I've recently got the Mini Cinderella Castle castle set from Shop Disney. I was missing a few lego blocks, the employees are very helpful and nice. They gave me advice to go to the website, order the missing pieces from the set number and order extra pieces in case. It's a great way to buy some gifts for children, family members or someone who is interested in architecture and engineering as their careers or in it themselves. Something interesting and fun to do together as a family or by yourself if you got that much patience and 3D building skills. They're always really helpful when I walk into the store, even though I mostly just look around at the Lego Set because I can just justify the price nor have the space for the larger sets. Legos....The ultimate kid bribe. Legos....The ultimate punisher for parent feet (serves us right for bribing our kids with legos). I always thought that going to the Lego store would be way more expensive than buying Legos at big box shops. But the #factcheck that happened when we finally caved is that they have comparable pricing and such a better selection. Our kids are 4, at the time of this review. And they are triplets. So......John, the very (extra) nice man at the Lego store is super patient and very helpful. He happens to be there EVERY time we go, so the boys know him as "Uncle John" (local style) and are thrilled to see what he shows them. The added bonus to being at the Lego store is their free loyalty program gives you extra foot piercers, oops, I mean Legos. And there are frequent bonuses when you purchase over a set amount. So, yay! Also......if you happen to throw a fit and throw away a piece that lodged itself in the sole of your foot......the Lego store has a wall of spares that will help remedy your outburst. read more

I used to come here almost every week when my son was a kid. I'd bring his friends, too, and they'd buy Bionicles and were so very happy with everything in the Lego Store. They grew up though, and their interests changed to other things, and we stopped going to the Lego Store. Recently I was invited to go to my friend's 5 year old daughter's birthday party, and she asked me to buy her Legos. We hadn't been there in about 12 years and were eager to see what they had. Wow! The Lego Store sure has changed since the last time I went. They had Disney Legos based on popular movies, all of the Star Trek stuff, amazing replicas of cities all over the world (our favorites were Tokyo and NYC because we used to live in both places). They even had a piano that you could hook up to your phone and if you played the music on the piano it would actually play! I really wanted it but unfortunately it was about 350.00 so it was definitely out of my budget. They also had cars that you could move with a controller. The Lego Store has really kept up to date with modern times. I was able to find exactly what my friend's daughter wanted, a Lego set from Encanto and one with the Disney Princesses. She is going to be so happy when she opens her present. We're already looking forward to our next visit here! read more

#7 for 2021 On a mission to find a base board for my son who loves to build with legos from scratch and use manuals to create exact models. My intuition guided me to see what's available. George was the first to ask me if I needed help upon entering. I said, "Yes. I need help to find base boards, containers to store lego pieces, and possibly tables or desks that holds a drawer for Legos." He's very helpful to provide largest size to smallest size base boards. I bought two largest size base boards 15x15 which I can use measuring tape and a blade cutter to customize size. This location was out of containers and informed that these items are usually included with some of the lego sets. Too bad I couldn't teleport to Legoland and buy containers in a jiffy. I'm grateful that George provided valuable info on where I'm able to buy in-person and online possible containers or storage space, tables or desks for Legos. I also signed up for free Lego membership which will help me to save money in the long run. Great for the long haul. read more

I was doing the build your own character set and there was a certain piece I was looking for because I'm getting married tomorrow and I wanted to make a bride and groom and I guess they weren't selling them anymore and had just changed the selection that morning, and one of the employees went out of his way to go find me the last one they had . Title: Rude staff! Just now trying to go inside to buy a birthday present. The store was full because of covid restriction. We saw the sign that it was full and... fair enough. My wife, daughter, and myself were at least 4-5 steps away from the door and were trying to find a place to line up to wait for our turn. I've never really been much of a Lego person. I guess I just never really got into it. My husband, on the other hand, loves Legos and all things Star Wars. Every time we're at Ala Moana we always have to stop over to look at the Star Wars Lego. But he has never bought anything. I think he wants to buy it but never does. Well just last week was his birthday and my sister didn't know what to get him. She remembered that he loves the Lego store so we went there. They have a lot of Star Wars Lego sets. They even have a few of the completed Star Wars sets made and displayed. Those were nice because you could actually see what the final product looks like. The one my sister selected didn't have display. But it did have a little sticker next to the boxes that said Digital Box. We decided to check what that meant so we asked one of the store associates. She showed us this really cool machine. You just hold onto box to a screen and it will show you the 3-d imaging of the final product. You can turn the box and the display will show you the different angles. It was pretty awesome. I took a picture but it really doesn't do it justice. I should've took a video. We decided to get the Millennium Falcon. And with our purchase we got a free Lego piggy bank. I'm impressed with the technology display. read more

Update 07/09/19 - I do appreciate Michele, store manager, for reaching out to our family via email. Original: I am a little disappointed on my recent trip to this store. My family loves to visit the store quarterly and always purchase. Today's visit, my husband was ready to purchase and waited in line which happen to be off to the right side where 1 cashier was ringing up. There was about 4 staff present around 3pm on a Saturday. The line was rather long but we waited patiently. My husband noticed that a new cashier starting taking customers from the middle. My husband had been waiting for 5-10 minutes to pay and of course he was instantly upset that he wasn't service in the order of the line. He was told by a staff that the line was in the center. There are nowhere in the store that shows customers where the line would start. My husband was already in a line and no line was present in the center. My husband walked up to me and asked to leave and not purchase the Legos here. Then, I noticed a staff look at me and waive me down. They acknowledged that he was in line. The cashier was apologetic after I told him about the wait and the line situation. I know it's only Legos but at the end of the day, a customer will shop at another store if a store lacks customer service. There are many items that are cheaper at Amazon, Target and Walmart for the same items. Next time, we'll won't visit the store and we'll just buy the product online from Amazon or Target or even a different brand entirely. read more

Okay, I admit that I was a lego fan when I was a very young boy. Now my 7 year old son has got me addicted to lego's. After visiting Legoland in California, what isn't there to love about lego's? My wife has also gotten into the "legomania". This store has a good supply of various lego sets. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Centrally located in Ala Moana Center on the second floor close to Long's. Lots of free parking. Because of Covid19, hours have changed. Never limit a kids imagination. Located on the second deck of Ala Moana Mall, this place is a haven for kids. It's small but laid out nicely where you can walk around and still see the merchandise. It seems this is the where all the new LEGO sets get introduced to the public. A lot of the sets displayed on the wall I don't see at the other stores. Very creative but slight expensive. In the center of the room, is where discounted items are and a large bin for kids and some grownups to build something quick. The back wall has spare LEGO parts in case you're missing any. Can't tell you how many times I find these things under the couch or under my foot?!?!? The staff is friendly and they encourage you to build something before you leave. I encourage you to sanitize your hands when you leave. I'm just kidding sort off. Overall fours stars. This lego store is well stocked, easy to access in the mall and has friendly knowledgeable staff. They always let me know what promotions are in place and what's coming up (I'm a regular). What can you say, if you enjoy Lego things you have to live this store. The staff was friendly and were eager to explain any kits. We had a worker explain the interactive Mario gameplay to us. In a huge mall with lots of clothing stores, this is one of the only places I not only love, but enjoy going to. The only issue I have here, is all merchandise is more expensive than online or mainland stores and they refuse to price match. On the other hand, they receive all the new sets before other stores and online, so if there's one you particularly have to have, you can usually find them here before launch. The store is well organized, bright, and most importantly, fun! There are always kids having a great time, which always makes me happy. They have an ample selection, and most sets are in stock regularly. The special events are always enjoyable (most are for kids only). The staff are young, knowledgable, and go out of their way to be helpful and pleasant. Regardless of how busy it is, I love spending time here. read more

Sometimes I feel like I'm just a really big kid at heart. Call me a tom boy, but I loved my lego sets when growing up. I never pictured myself as a builder (I'm that person that would smash her thumb when trying to hammer a nail), so being able to build something (even if it is with tiny plastic bricks) was very exciting and rewarding to me. You can imagine my excitement when they opened up the Lego Store in Honolulu. I love to window shop at the store whenever I am at Ala Moana. Just seeing all the new sets and what people can build with these plastic bricks always brings a smile to my face and blows my mind away with how creative people can be. Whenever I shop at the store, the employees always offer a greeting and keep those shelves stocked. I also enjoy seeing the smiles on everyone's faces when they are in the store - from the 6-year old boy clutching onto the new Star Wars set to the 30-something man that is also eyeing out the same set. When it comes to legos and I, we are rivals. I hate them and they hate me. They are forever attacking my feet and I am forever chucking them in the trash. I wish I had the patience to live with the pain of legos around the house but I just can't. My kids love them, but obviously not enough to preserve them or put them away properly! Once in a blue moon I'll let my kids indulge in a little Lego fun. But we've only ever bought packs of them from other stores. Today must have been only our second visit since they relocated from the old location. Like I said, blue moon! I personally feel legos are overpriced especially for what they are. They are blocks that connect. They do help the child's mind flourish with their imagination and creativity, but I'm sure other things that are more cost efficient do just as well. As far as the store goes, it's a nice location on the top floor of Ala Moana. The staff are nice and helpful, looks like they do a good job at keeping the shop presentable. If it weren't for me having children that enjoy legos I honestly wouldn't give this store the time of day. **Christmas Edition** Tis the season to run around because you don't know what to get a relative, friend, perhaps the biggest kid. Finally you obtain a wish list! Now, the crowd is the most challenging thing you dread and fighting against when going to the mall. With that said, you don't know if the items will be in stock! Ahhh!!! (Yelling Home Alone style). I go online to check if these items desired were in stock (indeed they were). Should I risk ordering them and getting them to Hawaii before Christmas and pay the hefty shipping fees!? Nah... eh eh! (waving my head from left to right). So I phone LEGO and said word for word "Lego, you're my only hope! (Star Wars style)" I asked if the items I needed were in stock. Brianna (my saving grace) answered and had stated these items are the only last couple of it's kind in the store. I asked if I am able to reserve/purchase them via phone and she said technically they're not suppose to. But she stated since it's Christmas and the items I need are limited of stock, she allowed me to purchase them via phone. Lego, has made every rush and normal shopping quite an experience and I am thankful for their excellent customer service. I am also a proud LEGO VIP customer and purchasing the toys here is so much fun while earning points. I hope I can make this big kid happy. I always loved Legos as especially as a kid. I'll get a few cool sets i like but I am no means a collector. I have a couple like the Star Wars X-Wing. For a small store the have an awfully good selection and a friendly and helpful staff. I've been stopping by lately to check for a certain set that spurs some childhood nostalgia, the Lego Voltron set. After a few weeks it has finally arrived. Perfect timing with the recent bout of tropical storms and hurricanes. It was a great rainy day activity. I got through four of the lions, the arms and limbs and am saving the main black lion for a raining day. This set contained think 17 separate Lego bags. Each of the smaller lions were 2-3 bags, the main black lion is 5 then a bag of accessories. It's fun and makes me feel like a kid. Like a 3D puzzle. Definitely check this store out. They have so many cool special sets. I might pick up one of their Lego Architecture sets for fun, like Frank Lloyd Wright. read more
