    Lemon Butter Horn
    Jim B.

Wow - this place was great! Three of us popped in for lunch one day. Nice little restaurant / gift shop / bakery / kitchen. Two of is had BLT sandwiches and I had a salad. Both meals were great. So fresh too. My companions each had a slice of Kringle. I had a lemon butter horn. Oh my - the butter horn was amazing! The butter horns are worth stopping for on their own.

We three visited in early Sept. at 2 pm. Reception was fast and friendly. The restaurant only has about 6 tables but 2 were empty. Service was excellent. Full meals are about $18 and smaller portions about $13. There is a very good selection. We had a Reuben Sandwich, Swedish Meat Balls, and a half-meal Smoked Salmon plate along with 2 coffees and a soft drink. The meals included dessert along with coffee refills! Everything was absolutely great. (FYI the washroom was immaculate). We very highly recommend The Lefse House for a meal in Camrose.

A menu that does not disappoint!

If you're looking for something unique, affordable and delicious when travelling through Camrose, look no further! The Main Street of Camrose is home to a few greasy Asian restos and a bizarre grumpy soup and sandwich place, but just behind that is The Lefse House, an authentic Scandinavian Bakery which also serves lunch! This place is amazing! Both of us ordered The Lefse Dog, which is a locally made European wiener wrapped in a potato Lefse! So good! I also got a side of fresh rye bread with pickled herring, bc one cannot visit a Scandinavian resto without enjoying some sort of cured fish!! Service was friendly and fast and there is a lot of things to look at in the resto/store! GO NOW!

This is a great little place to take in some Danish/Norwegian culture. As a disclaimer it is a bit on the pricey side for the amount of food you get. However, unless you are these cultures I doubt you will be making this on your own. You can bring home baking as well as frozen products (ie meatballs) and you can browse their cute and interesting giftshop. Server was super friendly but a bit backlogged. She was the only one on the floor and on lunch on a Saturday the place was full. My family ordered three different things. I ordered the Lefse egg salad wrap with a side of homemade mushroom soup, my daughter ordered the bacon and tomato sandwich with a side of soup, my husband ordered the Ruben with a side of lefse chips. All were tasty. However, I found my egg salad a little to runny for the wrap. The lefse bread itself was amazing but could not handle the liquid of the egg salad....and what was different that I didn't enjoy was the addition of relish in the egg salad. I found this made the wrap too sweet. However, perhaps this is how it is eaten in those countries, and so probably is authentic. My husband was slightly disappointed at the size of his sandwich (smaller) but the corned beef and sauerkraut was fresh and tasty. My kid's sandwich was the real winner.... huge delicious thick bread. Soup was really tasty. With your meal you get a free sample of the dessert. Desserts were amazing. I had the lemon tart which was tasty and the rest of my party had the chocolate and lingonberry pastries which were amazing! I definitely will come back to try the other interesting offers, however for the price probably only a couple times a year.

Stopped in at The Lefse House during the first snow storm of the year to warm up with a beautiful Reuben Sandwich! If you love Reubens, this is the place to go!

The owner also has a little gift shoppe going on in there too! We each got very different coffees, and I was very impressed with the quality of coffee and the time it took to make them! We tried her fresh baked cinnamon buns, cookies and blueberry scones! So yummy!! She also conversed with us which was nice, and made the experience much more personal! I cannot wait to come back, definitely better than any of the chain coffee shops and friendlier than a lot of the locally owned and operated ones! I know the owner by name, that is a rarity! So happy we stopped in!!

The lady in front of me ordered a latte, and I watched the steam wand get put in the milk, turned on and set down before the barista hustled about with other activities. Forget microfoam or latte art - it's just a crapshoot if you'll even get steamed to the right temperature. I ordered an Americano (no steaming) and it was served quickly and correctly. What it had in service it lacked in quality. The espresso was weak and a little bland and even my 14 oz. cup nearly drowned out the shot. Nice restaurant, good place to work, lovely art. The coffee is not for coffee lovers though. Suggestions for management: train (or hire) real baristas. I liked The idea of single origin beans, but what you had was lacking. Update: I stopped in and just ordered a regular coffee. Again, the lady working was lovely, but the coffee left something to be desired.

We came in the middle of the day and enjoyed lots of choice seating and had time to gaze at all the ice cream toppings choices. We ordered a ham and cheese croissant, which was nicely warmed up for us. Along with a recommended Strawberry London Fog, which was so tasty and huge! I loved it. They had a nice looking fall drink menu, plenty of light food options for lunch, plus a good selection of pastries and coffee options. We were eager to get some ice cream, I was a little disappointed that they only had one frozen yogurt/sorbet option. And on the menu the kids size was limited to 4 years old and younger....why? I'm an adult but I love ordering just a kids size of ice cream to be honest. One bathroom as well but it did have a change table station. Loved the little find of outdoor seating in the back, looked super cute and had I noticed it earlier we probably would have eaten out there instead of inside.

They also stock ice cream which is a nice little touch. I am not in Camrose often but will definitely be returning here!

Dwell…read morecarries high end furniture lines such as Living DIvani, Flou, and Moooi as well as about a hundred others. Their showroom is limited by their space and most of their products are done through special order by catalogue. I purchased a couch from this store last summer and am thrilled with the purchase. Jim was a really big help through the whole process. The couch took 16 weeks to arrive due to being hand made in Italy, but it was so worth it! It is a piece I will have for a lifetime. I frequently check out what is new at Dwell and also see if they happen to be selling any floor models to make room for new stock. They are also starting to carry some knock off lines which are great if you are looking for something that looks like the real thing but at a more affordable price. If you are into sleek, modern lines, fun, creative items and designer furniture and home accents then this is a great place to check out. Or, if you're like me and have no idea what you are looking at but just enjoy different and well built items you know will last a lifetime, then wander in and Jim will be more than happy to show you anything that might be of interest.
