This means I have now experienced childcare in 3 different rooms at this center and at different stages of my child's development. I chose Wirtzies because when we walked the center the assistant director at the time acknowledged children with their names as we walked through. She showed that the staff there would care about my child and treat them like a little human and not just a child. My gut felt that this would be a good place. They offer an inner generational program where the children have time with the elderly adults in their day program. This also was something that was of interest to me. My gut was right. They care about my child. My child has learned so much from them that he wouldn't learn at home. I get pictures and updates from them regularly. There have been incidents where he is hurt or hurts someone else. But you would be hard pressed to find a parent who watches their own child and never gets hurts. You can't watch your child 24 hours a day and neither can they with a state ratio of 5 to 1. They have addressed each incident appropriately. They care about my child and that is worth anything I need to pay them but they are affordable. I know they also offer state subsidized care if needed. My child is happy there. He loves his friends and his teachers. He even loves the ladies at the front desk.

Knows how to follow directions at home. I now love watching her sing and dance by herself. She is excited to go to school in the mornings and gets sad on days she doesn't have school. Andrea and Vanessa have made my daughter feel safe and comfortable. Outstanding teachers/caregivers are very rare. Hats off to Andrea! She just knows what my daughter needs (as if she has known her longer than a few months!) Vanessa with her kind smile, is there to help my daughter feel secure that she can wear her backpack till she's ready to take it off. Seriously, the teamwork that has been developed in this class is what any parent would hope for. To all the other ladies as well, I just wanted to give a huge thank you for guiding my daughter in this class! I am forever grateful! I drive away every morning knowing my daughter is in excellent hands!

While our early experience was positive, everything changed once he entered the toddler room. My son came home more than once with unexplained injuries. I picked him up once and discovered his mouth was bloody. I asked what happened, his teacher said, "I have no idea what happened." That answer was not only dismissive--it was alarming. He also had two separate incident reports for falling off classroom furniture--once from a table and another time from a chair. My question is this: if a teacher is truly supervising toddlers, how on earth is a child able to climb onto a table, stand long enough to fall, and get hurt--all without anyone noticing or stopping it? Toddlers are quick, yes, but that's exactly why supervision matters. Not long after, I personally witnessed a toddler teacher at Estrella KinderCare physically pushed a child down, causing him to fall and cry. The moment I saw that, I could not help but wonder if this was how my own son's injuries had occurred. It's one thing to get an "accident report." It's another to see with your own eyes how a teacher treats the children in their care. I immediately reported the incident to the director, Josie. She seemed concerned and assured me the teacher had been placed on leave pending an investigation. I wanted to believe her. But the very next day, when I arrived to pick up my son, that same teacher was in the toddler classroom--chatting and laughing with other staff. When I asked why she was there, I was told she was just picking up her own child. But here's the issue: if a teacher is supposedly on leave for pushing a toddler, why is she being allowed back into the classroom, interacting with the same kids? To me, that looked less like accountability and more like damage control. I have walked into the toddler room and seen teachers with their backs turned to the children while using their cell phones/the classroom iPads. As an educator myself, I cannot overstate how unacceptable that is. I am responsible for a classroom of children every day. I know what proper supervision looks like, and I know what negligence looks like. What I saw at KinderCare was negligence. At that point, my trust is gone. I unenrolled my son immediately. If you have a child in the toddler room at Estrella KinderCare, please be mindful of what's happening. Aggressive behavior toward children should never be tolerated, and yet here, it was brushed aside. What's worse is that the staff culture seems more interested in protecting each other than protecting the children. After pulling my son out, I decided to dig deeper. I looked up reports from the Arizona Department of Health Services regarding Estrella KinderCare. What I found shocked me--but it also, sadly, didn't surprise me. This center had already been cited for poor supervision of children by teachers and for excessive incident reports. These are the exact issues my son continued to experience almost a full year after those citations were issued. In other words, nothing had changed. The problems were documented, known, and ongoing. I'll be attaching screenshots of these reports in my review so other parents can see them as well. I gave Estrella KinderCare the benefit of the doubt too many times, and my son paid the price. Please, if you are considering sending your child here: don't. It's not worth the risk. There are caring teachers in this world, but the culture of this particular center feels broken and unsafe. The first incident I witnessed was a teacher, Ms. Jen, using her feet to push children into their chairs. I immediately brought my concerns to the front office because I do not believe that is an appropriate or acceptable way to handle toddlers. Unfortunately, I felt those concerns were dismissed. Not long after, I saw the same teacher use a spoon to stop my son from doing something. Aside from being inappropriate, it was unsanitary. I also witnessed teachers picking food up off the floor and giving it back to the children, which was extremely concerning. About a month later, I picked my son up with a busted lip that had dried blood on it, a knot on his head, and hives covering his body. No one contacted me about any of these injuries, and when I arrived, staff could not locate an incident report. After about 20 minutes of searching, they finally found it, but it was so poorly written that it was nearly impossible to read. Another issue occurred during water day. My son was placed in a different classroom and allowed to participate in water activities even though he was not scheduled to be outside for water day at all. He was allowed to play without a swimsuit, sunscreen, or water shoes, and spent time outside soaking wet in the same clothes I had dropped him off in. No one contacted me beforehand to let me know he had been moved or to ask me to bring the appropriate items. Ultimately, we chose to unenroll him early after receiving conflicting information regarding tuition and scheduling as he transitioned into the two-year-old classroom with an additional day. Let's just say, If they're teaching children the same math that they use to calculate payments, you do not want to bring to your child here! Throughout our time there, it became apparent that communication and organization were lacking. Staff members frequently provided different answers, and concerns were often met with explanations rather than meaningful resolution. As a parent, I was deeply disappointed by the overall lack of professionalism, cleanliness, accountability, and organization. I never felt confident that concerns were taken seriously, and there always seemed to be an excuse instead of a solution. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this facility. That said, I do want to recognize the teachers who made a positive impact on my son's experience. Ms. Megan, Ms. Rebecca, Ms. Morgan, and another teacher; a Black woman with glasses who was usually there midday, whose name I unfortunately cannot remember were all kind, attentive, and genuinely cared for the children. We came from another local daycare facility in the area, and we are so glad we found this place. From the outside, the building might look small and a bit tucked away, but it truly proves the saying "you can't judge a book by its cover." Once you walk inside, the facility is surprisingly large and spacious, with beautifully decorated high ceilings and thoughtfully designed learning areas. Lily, the Director, has been amazing from the start. She regularly checks in with us and makes sure everything is going well. She and the entire staff are incredibly cheerful and professional, while also creating a genuine sense of care and trust. Every morning we are greeted with smiles, and my son is excited to go to class each day. One of the biggest differences we've noticed compared to our previous daycare is the variety of activities and spaces available to the kids. Because the facility is so large, the children aren't confined to one room or a single playground all day. Instead, they get to move throughout the school and experience different environments. Some of the amazing things available to the kids include: - A mini cafeteria where they can participate in cooking activities - A science lab - An indoor basketball court - An in-school library with Spanish lessons - A media center - Three large playgrounds for different age groups - Art classes - An imagination center for dress-up and creative play - A large activity room with a stage, toys, and tables for group play The environment allows kids to explore, learn, and move throughout the day rather than being cooped up in a single classroom.
