My children are young (2 and 4), so it's my first school encounter as a parent, and I know the bar has been set incredibly high. The children are nurtured and deeply cared for by amazing, highly qualified and empathetic teachers who lead by example. They are genuinely excited to go to school each day, and, through the Montessori teaching method, absorb imperative life, critical thinking, analytical, and social skills in the classroom that they then take home with them. Oak Meadow students (my own and those that I've observed of all ages) are independent thinkers who are considerate, respectful, and supportive of one another. It's so refreshing to witness! Oak Meadow is a very special learning environment - we looked at many preschools in the area, and are consistently impressed with Oak Meadow's curriculum, teachers, and community.

The school proved to be a wonderful choice for my son's education . It has helped him develop a sound foundation in all aspects of academic learning while providing him the right kind of social and emotional support necessary for well rounded development. He has gone onto thrive in a highly competitive high school program with no issues. The personal attention and care that he received from his teachers all through his years at the school has a lot to do with this success. We have been so happy with his progress that we had no hesitation to start his younger brother in the same program a few years ago and we have been very happy with how well he is thriving at the school. If you are looking for excellent academics this school is a good choice. If you are looking for more than just academic excellence, I think there is nothing better than this school and its teachers!!

Now our daughter is in a two-year old class and the teachers are helping her learn the alphabet and numbers and colors and are even doing a ton to help with toilet training, which is amazing. Every day, our little girl comes home learning something new--talking better, counting to ten...it's amazing. And she's happy! One thing I love about the school is that the owners are really great about communicating with us as parents, and the teachers are too. We actually get a daily e-mail (also communicated through an app on our phone) with pictures of our daughter and details ranging from what she ate to when she pooped to all of the activities that they did and how they enhanced her learning in different areas like social skills or gross motor movement or math or language. There's also usually a picture of her and there's always a "memorable moment" from her day. The classes at Goddard are small compared to other childcares, which has been great in terms of giving our daughter individualized attention as well. In short--I cannot recommend Goddard highly enough. As a parent, I feel safe and secure and confident sending my daughter here!

There are four classrooms, two teachers per classroom - it makes for a nice, friendly community. The teachers are wonderful and provide a warm and nurturing environment that builds confidence and encourages exploration, creativity, and learning. Our son thrived here. I was concerned that three years of preschool was going to grow stale but that was absolutely not the case. The little 2.9 yr old child who started two days a week was very different from the 5 1/2 yr old, going four days a week, that graduated but I feel each classroom experience met this growth and change very nicely. The school is in the same building as The Council on Aging and the school and the council make the most of this unique set-up with the preschoolers performing for the Council on Aging community at various times throughout the year, and the members of Council on Aging helping the children pick out Mother's Day gifts from their gift shop. The children work hard to prepare and are so proud after their performance. The location also enables the children to take a weekly walk and trip to the library and other walks around town. With one stay-at-home parent, we only needed a true preschool experience, not daycare, but the preschool offers Stay and Play on Mondays and Wednesdays that extends the day to 2:30pm. I found this very useful if I needed extra time in the day. We also took advantage of Stay and Swim where the kids are bused to Beede for a swim lesson on Wednesdays. The children are learning art, science, and math every day through their activities and play. The teacher shared all that the children were learning in her weekly newsletter. Stand-outs from this last year alone - Learning about Concord's amazing authors and then taking a hike in the same woods they hiked; learning about the world's most talented artists, making art in the style of these artists, then capping it off with a field trip to the MFA; reinforcing the value of giving back and helping others from a month long dedicated service unit where the children do things like collect old towels for animal shelters, candy for soldiers, and actually go shopping to put together a holiday meal for a family in need. Each year they put out a yearbook for the school. I love that he will always have these books to remind him of his time in preschool. The graduation ceremony was a beautiful (tearful for mom) send-off to kindergarten and, after speaking with my son on his first few days in kindergarten, it is clear that Carousel Preschool helped prepare him for an easy transition to kindergarten. As you can tell from this review, we are big fans of this preschool. :^)

They share the playground with the Concord Children's Center. They offer an optional stay and play program, swim lessons at the Beede Center, and a summer program. The kids go on many fields trips (local businesses, Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, local farms, etc.) and walk to the library across the street on a weekly basis. Unsurprisingly, they have a close relationship with the Concord public school system, which allows them to really ease the transition to kindergarten (they even organize field trips to kindergarten) and provide valuable information about your kid's needs and strengths to their new school. We also liked that all teachers are experienced and mature individuals. You will not be leaving your kid with a 19-year-old. It's a well run, creative, and welcoming program.

He's become so much more independent, confident, and socially engaged -- and he absolutely adores his teachers and classmates. They go all the way up to kindergarten, and while touring, I could tell all the staff and kids were happy. This is important to me, as I want the best for my child. They have a chef! They introduce nutritional meals and plant a seed of understanding food groups at a young age, to instill healthy food choices as they grow. I LOVE THIS! I was talking to a neighbor mom who couldn't understand why they would have a chef, and to ME, it's important. Because cooking, prepping, rationing out snacks and meals, is tough sometimes. I run a business and manage an office, and my husband works starting his days at 630 at a glass contracting facility, so we are BUSY! Knowing my daughter can get the proper attention and great food, makes me feel VERY confident that I'm providing her with the best school. They have monitors and video cameras, which helps me feel the kids are safe. There's monitors in the front lobby. Everything was clean, everything was labeled, and it felt like they're managed very well. From sign language, to educational groups, to the hands on staff- I just feel this is the best center in town. I literally cried in the parking lot! My only complaint is the price. It's nearly double what other daycares nearby offer! Their full-time rate is 500$. I understand they offer a LOT and it's the best of the best, but 3-400 range would be more appropriate in my opinion. Worth the tour! the kids will thrive! This is our dream daycare!

They girls have their primary teacher, but are constantly interacting with different groups of kids and teachers and staff. This has been wonderful in getting them accustomed to new people outside of the school environment. They used to be very shy about meeting new people but its a comfortable process being in new places now. The school also helps me as a first time mom with many questions I'll have about different things the kids experience. An added bonus that extends beyond the school environemnt!

From a logistics standpoint, staff were communicative, responsive, and attentive. The team handled our child's multiple food allergies professionally and confidently. They were flexible and supportive when we needed to change his schedule for several months to accommodate a family emergency, and were open to amenable to our preferences with big milestones (e.g., potty training). To begin with, I applied here as an infant teacher and later found out that teachers were not following safety procedures such as hand washing with the children and leaving teachers out of ratio. As a child care professional, I have always washed children's hands after their diaper changes even in the infant classroom. Also, when I worked with one of the floating staff, she placed a one year old in a time out! When these concerns were brought to the head teacher and office, we did not see eye to eye. The owners and director blamed me for "gossiping." Which is completely opposite for what I was doing. Next, they do not take the infants outside! I tried to stress with the staff how important it is to get these children outside for fresh air. The children were bored. There were not many activities for them to keep busy. In conclusion, I was out sick one day and I sent a message an hour before my shift. The office gave me a hard time because I did not message them two hours before. I was unable to send them a message out there specific time, but made sure I messaged them as soon as I could. I was let go in an unprofessional manner and was not given any warnings before the day that they let me go. A week or two before my dismissal date I asked the head teacher and office how things were going overall with me and everybody said that I was doing a great job. Beware and do your research before accepting a job at this establishment.
