I have never felt so compelled to leave a review. Let me give you a clear picture of how this…read moreschool operates. I reached out on a Monday about availability. The owner and director, Kailee, promptly replied with enthusiasm, telling me multiple spots were available for my child's age group. Great news, right? We toured the school on Wednesday. Kailee greeted us, led us to her office, and began her sales pitch: teacher-student ratios, art shows, the "extras" they offer. Not once did she mention teacher names, qualifications, or experience--things any parent would want to know. When I asked about staff education or degrees, she had no clear answer. "I think one might have a master's degree," she said vaguely. When I asked about handling challenging behaviors or redirection policies, again, no clear answer. For someone running a school, that was alarming. The tour itself? Fine. Saw a dirty fishtank. Typical corporate franchise feel. Nothing special. She handed me paperwork, explained the enrollment steps, and told me all I needed to do was register if I wanted the spot. So Thursday, I did exactly that. I got the doctor's forms, submitted everything, and checked off her entire list. Then Friday morning, I receive an automated message saying I'm on a waiting list. Confused, I email Kailee for clarification. That's when she replies: "Hi Charlotte, It was such a pleasure meeting your family & sweet CHILD. I loved watching her excitement for the learning space. We'd love to have her join our school community! Unfortunately I was mistaken about the Tuesday/Thursday space when you toured- I have a space in the Older 2s class, but CHILD is just a bit too young for this age group & would go into the young 2s instead. The Mon/Wed space filled right before you registered by a family that toured earlier in the week & completed their registration just before yours. I'm so sorry that the space is no longer available as it was when you toured." No apology for the bait-and-switch. No professional courtesy to call me when she knew the spot was gone--just excuses in an email I had to initiate. So not only did it take her days to "realize" my daughter's actual age--even though I gave her birthday in the very first email--but I'm also supposed to believe someone conveniently toured and registered before me? Here's the truth: If you want transparency, if you care about teacher qualifications, behavior policies, or basic honesty, look elsewhere. The GOOD news: Fort Mill has plenty of ABC Quality Rated schools, where teacher qualifications, safety standards, and curriculum quality are regularly evaluated. This school is not one of them. Save yourself the time, stress, and disappointment. The director avoids accountability, doesn't answer calls, and communication here is minimal at best. TL;DR: This place will sell you frills, avoid your real questions, and then pull the rug out from under you. Warmly, Someone who actually wants a safe, quality environment for their child--not just a place to drop them off without standards or oversight. :)

He was very quiet and to himself. We were on a waitlist for Oakcrest, then a friend of ours recommended Ivybrook and their half day program. We took our son on the tour and fell in love. His eyes brighten and he was so happy. The registration was seemless. Kailee was very professional and answered all my questions and concerns. Our son is much more talkative, less shy, and plays very well with other children. His first day of school, he asked me to turn around and take him back. The staff is super attentive to him. If there were any issues or concerns in the classroom, they were handled immediately with care. He's learned so much here at Ivybrook, the only thing we regret is not taking him here sooner. We've noticed how much our son has grown, how well he speaks, how much he enjoys school and we love every bit of it.

The trip itself was quite a distance, which made it even more meaningful that everything was so well organized and thoughtfully planned. It was a wonderful way to connect with the staff and some of the families. One of the most meaningful parts of the experience was seeing the parent involvement in action. While it was the parents leading and supporting the group, Ms. Skyler's natural connection with the children, her energy, and her presence stood out. It was truly special to witness the level of trust and bond between the staff, and children. There is even a mini farm and a few gardens at the school. What makes Fort Mill Cooperative Preschool unique is how they encourage and create space for that involvement. Through field trips, events, and holiday celebrations, they build a strong, connected environment for both children and families. We especially love Ms. Emmy and Ms. Skyler. The owner, director and the Fort Mill Co-op family-staff have truly changed school for my son. A huge thank you to Ms. Szilvia Fillmore, the on-site Clinical Art Counselor, who is also affiliated with Thrive Family Services. Through her support and collaboration with the staff, my son has grown in his ability to identify and communicate his needs and emotions. This was very valuable! The tools and materials she brings into the classroom were something we didn't even realize we were missing at previous schools. This is truly an incredible school, with strong values and a genuine commitment to each child's growth and development. We are so grateful for your thoughtful and engaging approach to learning.

My issues were my last few months** As I look back and question my choices to leave my kids here makes me sad. I loved a select few teachers, my girls were lucky to have them. If they had any other teachers I would have pulled them out way before I did. This is not a place that I would tell another parent to bring their kids. My daughter was picked on and picked on by one child in particular. I complained, nothing. I complained, they moved classes. That day my daughter told me he was still picking on her, they were allowed to play on the playground together? C'mon, really? I would think of another child is hitting and spitting on my daughter they would take it more seriously. I questioned them about this boy, the response was his mom was going through a hard time and she wasnt surprised he was being bad. She tried to justify it to my face. Don't get me wrong, I get hard times. The fact that the people i paid way too much money too didn't care, pisses me off. I spent way too much money here for less then mediocre child care.

Originally she was still on breast milk when we started we had no issues with milk being distributed they follow the standards and go above and beyond for quality control still to this day when it comes to food or medicine. All lunches are refrigerated and heated up daily per standards. One of my favorite things is the standard they hold the teachers to and don't mess around when it comes to safety they will report themselves for something other schools tend to overlook. A few teachers have changed classes to be a better fit for the curriculum. In the evenings teachers are sometimes used in other classes to cover and make sure the student to teacher ratio is still good. Our daughter had been with them almost 3yrs and the the knowledge she comes home with is amazing since this is a STEAM program school. We have looked at other schools (to see what else is out there) One other nice thing they have is a machine called halo I think and it's a sanitizer that's also used in nicu units of hospitals. This past cold and flu season was a breeze I feel a lot of it attributed to this machine and the diligence of the staff on making the kids wash lots

That said, this review is not directed at them--it's directed at the organization, leadership, and ownership behind Oakcrest. We've had two children enrolled here since 2022 and have paid over $83,000 in tuition--never missing a single payment. We've supported the school, told other families about it, and truly tried to be good members of the community. Recently, our youngest was accepted into a new program, and we gave 35 days' notice that he wouldn't be returning. Unfortunately, I missed the "re-enrollment deadline" by 12 days and was hit with a $200 re-enrollment fee. I take full responsibility for missing the cutoff. But what shocked me was the complete lack of empathy or understanding from leadership. No flexibility. No conversation. Just a cold response quoting a handbook. I wasn't asking for special treatment--I was asking for basic human decency after years of loyalty. To make it worse, the communication around this policy was minimal. We received only one reminder in March--no follow-ups, no texts, no push notifications through the app. And yet, they'll call or message multiple times if your child has a mild illness. So it's not a tech limitation--it's a priority issue. Oakcrest brands itself as a "preparatory academy," but at the end of the day--it's a corporate daycare with a polished image. They're quick to run book drives and food drives (which families support), but when it comes to truly valuing long-term families--they've made it clear where their priorities lie. If you're a family comparing child care options, I'd encourage you to look deeper than the branding. Our experience has been a harsh reminder that no matter how much time, money, or trust you invest--you're still just a number on a spreadsheet to them. Disappointed doesn't even begin to cover it.

The school did not notify me of this issue - my child had to disclose it to me. When I told the school director about it she effectively did nothing about. Additionally, she did even notify the parents of the other effected child of the situation. 2) My child was vicitimed by a bully in her class for years. This situation resolved itself when they child left. The school's director tried many times to get me to understand that things like this happen with children and that I was blowing it out of portion. 3) My ex-spouse and I were involved in a very nasty custody battle for many years. The school and its adminstration constantly took sides. At one point when I lost custody the school's director effectively told me that the contract was with the other parent and that as such I would not receive any communication about my child and that I would be removed from the email update list and that they would not provide any updates on my child's progress. 4) Very high teacher turnover. The school only has 3 full time teachers and within a couple of years the school fired 3 teachers. 5) many parents fall into social tribes - the child see this behavoir and copy it. I found that child tended to function in groups that excluded other children. Even a teacher at the school who had children at the school were victimized by this type of ingroup/outgroup abuse by other students.

Everyone is happy, warm and welcoming and most importantly passionate about  their work and bringing out the best in each child. Our son has been thriving in the small family type environment and he enjoys the focused attention he receives. He enjoys school so much that he even requested to stay for after-school-care. I would describe myself as a very protective parent, but knowing that my son is at Anami gives me a tremendous peace of mind. Aside from the warm and caring environment, the curriculum is excellent and his learning and growth has been tremendous. It is a tight knit community were parents make new friends among themselves. The school hosts many community evenings and events to get the families together and keep everyone informed about developments. I highly recommend Anami!

The staff is excellent, she never had a teacher who didn't connect with her on a personal level and she always received top-notch personal attention. Her development both interpersonally with her classmates ("friends" in the parlance of Goddard) and her readiness for kindergarten was amazing. She was so well prepared that during her placement test for the public school kindergarten she currently attends the teacher giving the test came back after a few minutes and said: "Well that was the quickest test ever. Your daughter already knows everything she needs for Kindergarten." And it is not just the staff. Goddard attracts great kids and does a great job of teaching them. Every day when I dropped off and picked up my daughters I was surrounded by "friends" who would be just as excited to see me as they were my little one. It really is a great community of learners who are nurtured to do their best. I would completely recommend it as the finest daycare (honestly it is more a school than a daycare) in Rock Hill that I have run across and anyone who wants their child to have a successful start in life should seriously consider sending their child there.
