However, already knowing Erica and her staff made what could have been an incredibly difficult decision feel like the best choice we could have made. The staff at Cowlicks and Pigtails made our transition into the world of infant daycare so smooth and reassuring. Sending a baby to daycare shortly after maternity leave was a completely different experience than sending our older child to preschool, but they made us feel comfortable, supported, and confident that our daughter was in wonderful hands. Our daughter started at just about 12 weeks old and is now three, and we truly couldn't imagine our lives without the incredible staff at Cowlicks and Pigtails! They have cared for her, supported her, and loved her through every stage. Knowing she is safe, happy, and surrounded by people who genuinely care about her means more to us than we could ever put into words. We are so grateful to be part of the Cowlicks and Pigtails family!

They are dedicated, people who truly love and care about your children. Their curriculum is great, as someone who has seen the Massachusetts Core Curriculum Standards for first grade, you can easily see where even the basics for two year olds are setting them up to have a mastery of this information early. We've never had a problem with feeling as though there is an open line of communication. If for some reason they need to call, they try multiple phone lines. They always respond to e-mails as well. Our son recently underwent extremely serious surgery and was out for a few weeks. The staff took time out of their day to call, and ask how he was doing, specifically citing for their own concern, not for school reasons. When he was ready to go back, we sat down and came up a plan with the director & teacher and they were amazing, incorporating his potential physical deficits into the routine (things that would benefit the whole class such as calling out specifically working on their non-dominant hand) and coming up with a plan to have an extra teacher shadow him at recess to ensure his balance was normal but that he wasn't feeling like he was being singled out. Even when he started going back, teachers who hadn't had our son in years were coming up, taking time out of their day and talking to us, offering resources and experiences of their own if we needed them. I noticed one negative response (for another of the Jack & Jill centers), mentions fevers. We've gotten those calls too when he was younger, where the fever is gone by the time we get him to bring him to the dr's, but you have to remember it's for the well-being of all the children, it goes both ways. If they can avoid spreading something contagious from other children to my child, I am appreciative. On the flip side, I received a call from a teacher saying, I needed to call because he "just seemed off" siting a few unusual things from that morning that were out of the ordinary for him, which were actually the first symptoms leading to the above mentioned surgery. For that I will always be thankful.

It's a diverse group of kids and teachers which is wonderful. The kids go outside everyday in a nice playground and also go for cute walks along the beach area. It is more affordable (without sacrificing on quality) which is exactly what this area needs. I hope they expand more in the South Shore area. In regards to cleanliness - Bright Horizons wins, but A Child's View is sufficiently clean, as it cleaned and sanitized every night by a professional cleaner.

It's a wonderful safe, clean facility with plenty of resources and qualified teachers. But the…read morelead teacher in my child's classroom was kind but joyless, and was far more interested in maintaining the organization of the classroom materials than in encouraging the children to play and learn. I absolutely understand that with 20 children in a room, things can get out of hand quickly, but that needs to be one of several objectives. For example, at drop-off, several children were playing nicely at a table, building from a pile of duplo blocks. Every minute or two, the teacher would instruct them from across the room to pick up the latest three or four blocks that had fallen under the table, rather than allowing them to continue to create or showing any interest in what they were doing. If she had stopped by the table to ask about what they were building and then also had them pick up, that would have been far better. Another day, I heard her rather sternly telling a preschooler that she was disappointed in how she was playing because "those toys don't go together". The offending action? The child had decided to put a couple blocks in the toy cash register instead of the play money. 3 and 4 year olds have such joy and creativity, a need to be able to explore through play, that it's a shame to stifle that, so we decided to move to a different arrangement.
