The infant room is filled with caregivers who not only watch your child, but genuinely care about their growth and development. Our child has learned so much, and I wholeheartedly believe it's because of the amazing people here. They offer age-appropriate activities and crafts that keep the kids engaged and learning in fun ways. They also go above and beyond with extra events like family gatherings to help parents connect, book fairs for the little ones, and the most magical visits from Santa and the Easter Bunny for photos! One of the biggest comforts as a parent is knowing they have a nurse on staff. It's incredibly reassuring, especially on those days when your child isn't feeling 100%. If you're looking for a daycare where your child will be loved, nurtured, and truly cared for, send your children here! You won't regret it.

The teachers all seemed to love him and did a great job of letting us know how his day was. I never once worried if he was well taken care of or ate enough (he's a picky eater) because they always did their best and kept us well informed. I also really appreciated how they approached any misbehavior. You know, our toddlers tell us everything and for the most part some kids are just learning how to play well with others and I feel that this school really gave space with that while also doing the necessary incident reports. Lastly, our son was blessed to have grown with his classmates. There isn't a lot of turnover with kids in this school and that was such a plus for us- our son growing up with other kids and becoming best friends with them. This is the school you want your kids to go to.

My child completed their preschool experience with strong pre-academic and spiritual foundations. The administrative staff, preschool teachers, specials teachers (e.g., Spanish, P.E. instructors), and aftercare teachers are top notch. My child attended full day preschool as a 3-year-old and again as a 4-year-old. We were so impressed that we had no qualms about continuing enrollment in kindergarten at Central College Christion School. The preschool team is kind, courteous, and conscientious. The director and program coordinator have an open-door policy and welcome parent collaboration. There are many parent volunteer activities, as well as school-sponsored events during evening and weekend hours to give working parents an opportunity to be a part of the preschool community. At Central College Preschool, diversity is celebrated, and it was reassuring to see students and staff from diverse backgrounds represented. Central College Preschool (and the elementary school) is a gem! It is so much more than a school; it's a family.

The director of the school, Becky Kidwell, is very sweet and accomidating. She often stops in the classrooms to get to know the chlidren and their families. The staff is very warm and is devoted to helping prepare the children for school. The curriculum has an academic focus and the children learn to write their names, bring items from home to share for each letter of the alphabet, enjoy singing with the music teacher once a week and benefit from a very nice outdoor playground and an inside gym room with equipment, parachuttes, balls, and scooters. The school does not do field trips, which differentiates it from the other local preschool at St. Luke's. Like all schools, some teachers in this school are favored over others, and the teacher responsible for the 5-year-old preschool class is one of the best teachers I've ever met. She is warm, keeps her kids in line, ensures they are ready for kindergarten, and truly cares about the welfare of the children. The school offers two-day, three-day, and 5-day programs and all of its classes are half day (9-11:30 or 12:30-3). The rates are very affordable. Registration for the following year opens to the public opens in February every year and some years, spots in the school fill up quickly-especially for the morning programs. On registration day, parents often line up at 6am. While the school was founded by and is housed at Stonybrook United Methodist Church, they do not teach religion in the classes and the preschool is a seperate entity from the church. The school hosts a Halloween Parade of Costumes, a Thanksgiving Feast, Valentine's Day and Christmas parties, which all classes participate in. My only complaint with the school is that it does not offer curb-side check in for children. This is a minor detail but, for me, it meant that I had to park my van and lug my 3-year-old and her 1-year-old twin sisters in and out of the crowded hallways with all the other parents for pick ups and drop offs-no easy feat. Our experience with this preschool for all three of my children has been excellent.

You want to believe that they have your children's best interests at heart. You want to know that they are teaching your child age appropriate behavior and to help them learn to appropriately express their emotions. Dropping my son off in the morning became traumatic, I would bring him in only to hear the kids getting yelled at and threatened. They'd threaten to not let them go outside for talking. This was not only in the preschool room but in the 18 month room as well. I've never heard children this young get yelled at like they are supposed to behave like elementary age kids. My son gets upset when he feels he isn't listened to. So what does he get for talking? Sent out in the hallway, BY HIMSELF, to sit. WITHOUT a TIMER or anyone keeping track of behavior. They tried giving the kids stickers once for good behavior and supposedly that was their version of "we've tried everything but your child's behavior is not improving." Well, he's still 3.... so.... ???? I got messages at work because he threw a pillow. I got messages at work because he was being "disruptive." He also was left in timeout unsupervised and upset long enough for him to peel the plastic baseboard off the wall. Got a picture message from the "director" who has a degree in business and not a lick of childhood development education, and that supposedly I was supposed to be mad at my kid? Y'all are supposed to be taking care of HIM? I think they forgot that part. So the first two issues were him throwing a chair, which first of all he learned from another kid at the center, nevertheless is extremely troubling and we took it very seriously at home. Was warned (via text message) that if we had it happen again that he'd be asked to leave. Understandable. However someone else pointed out to me that my kid doesn't just get mad out of nowhere and blow up like that. He would have had to escalate to the point where he picked up a chair, then throw it without anyone noticing.... disturbing at the least, and even moreso that the "director" Jenna said she was present for this happening. So I set up a meeting and she canceled last minute. There's no communication with her or anyone else about what they are doing to correct the behavior or deflect it. Just basically same stuff. Put the toddler out in the hall for talking. Which, from what I have been told, is basically against the law. I guess there's a requirement that there needs to be an adult within arms reach or four feet away, which begs the question, how did my kid get away with throwing a chair twice? Several months pass, and he had an incident where he got upset and pretended to spit on the floor, was informed VIA TEXT MESSAGE that he was "interrupting class" and that they were giving us a week to find somewhere else to take him. No problem. Byeeee. Still give Stephanie in the 18 month room 5 stars.
