Best acai bowls around! I honestly didn't expect much from this place bc it's just a little drive up coffee stand. However, a friend of mine raved about it so I thought I'd check it out. Man was I pleasantly surprised!! The acai bowl with peanut butter is the best! To add pb might sound weird, but it's just the perfect flavor to compliment the acai, bananas and berries. The girls that work there are all very sweet, too. The only reason why I didn't give it a 5 star rating is bc I'm not a fan of their coffee. It has a weird taste to it, and I'm not sure why but I just can't get on board with it. I'll just drive up, grab my bowl, and head on down the road to Starbucks. This is a TWO sided drive-through coffee shop that you can still walk up to. They have all the drinks that a coffe shop can have. Also a few snacks to munch on. Their biggest plus is that they have TWO drive-throughs! So if your in a rush this is your coffee shop. They like dogs too! read more

The Lean Bean is a little lime green shack located in a little parking lot area of a plaza in the Santee area off Mission Gorge. They sell anything from coffee, smoothies and juices to acai bowls. It's perfect if you're on the go because the Lean Bean serves as a drive thru establishment so no need to get out of your car if you're having a bad hair day. I really wanted the acai bowl to live up to the bowls I've had at other establishments. It was too sweet. The granola tasted only of sugar. I liked the amount of fruit on it and it was fresh. I just feel like there is too much sugar in the acai mixture and the granola. Also, it's s little pricy for what you get. I haven't tried anything else here. I like the double drive through concept and everything else about the lean bean. Will try something different next time. read more

Great little drive thru spot. Acai bowl was plentiful, very reasonable price. I got the acai bowl with peanut butter. Acai purée, peanut butter, fresh blueberries, bananas, strawberries and topped with coconut and guava. Very delicious and feeling. You can tell this is a hot spot. Staff were quick and nice. I went here for the first time after driving past it for since I can remember as a kid. Today I was driving to work and decided to stop by finally! I'm glad I did. One of the women working that helped me was so energetic and seemed so happy to be working there she gave off great vibes, it put me in a good mood as well. She asked me what I wanted and I wasn't sure so she asked if I wanted a surprise drink. I got a cold brew with some flavored syrup and it was delicious! I absolutely am in love with this place and come here almost every day! I usually get a Peanut Butter Açaí Bowl or a Peanut Butter Açaí Smoothie. I have gone to other Açaí places and this is by far my favorite in terms of flavor quality. They make theirs the perfect balance of everything and the size is the most favorable as others are too excessive and charge more due to having a bigger serving. It's hard to miss as it's a bright green kiosk/stand in the middle of a parking lot, I would advise having ample time to wait if you're coming in the morning as sometimes they are packed. There are mornings where they aren't as busy, just be wary. The owner, Gigi, and her staff are all incredibly nice and always welcoming. The only thing is I wish they had other locations! read more

They would even get out of the booth to take orders when the lines would get backed up. Today I waited about 5-8 mins for the car in front of me to finish their conversation... When I pulled up the girl was sweet, but they were still talking amongst themselves and I felt no attention was given to my order. 3/5 Food I was very disappointed in the portion I received. Very large scoops of peanut butter, not as much acai as I'm used to . It just felt rushed. It was still edible but when you're used to them producing it a certain way. I always go here after a hike at Cowles and their acai bowls just make me SO HAPPY. The perfect consistency, fresh berries and the honey and coconut flakes are always the perfect touch. The granola is so crunchy and goes so well with everything else. I've never tried their coffee but my friend got their regular coffee and was really impressed. Pretty delicious, pretty darn delicious!! I basically came here because I generally like to eat plant based yay go plants! So I ordered the acai bow with the peanut butter and boyyy was it delish! I wish there was just a tad bit more of the pb because you seriously need a little with every bite! Yummy! It was a perfect ratio of acai to the fruit on top (banana, strawberries, blueberries, coconut, agave if you'd like) Pero like, it would have been just as good without the agave and extra coconut for me! They offer shredded coconut, agave syrup and peanut butter! They layer each ingredient perfectly and cut the fruit small enough to enjoy each bite you take!
