In much the same way that the Quad motorbike pushed the humble Border collie out the picture, or the internet squeezed out good old fashioned letter writing, the traditional laundrette is now a dying race in our new fangled modern world.
The suitably and originally titled Laundrette at 85 Mina Rd is a standing stone of the local community in St Werburghs. Not only can one wash literally everything one owns in their vast king-size washers big enough for a small horse, but one can also dry their prized sheets in an equally bold dryer.
Furthermore (and herein lies the real charm for me), every flyer and poster for every music night in Bristol is plastered across the wall in a fantastic multicoloured mural. I have never seen anyone replace or change the posters but somehow they're always current. This laundrette is thus an excellent place both to find out what's going on in your local town, as well as to get those dirty undies sorted. read more
