Folks laid to rest here date back to the 1800's, and some were true pioneers!! Pioneers that you read about in books growing up. The Junior League of Las Vegas maintains it and has tours. I had no idea who Antonio Morelli was. He was the music director at the Sands. This house is maintained to look like it was during the 1960s. He lived in this house. The house actually was moved here and has an interesting story about that. Go to the League website. If you're interesting in a tour you have to sign up for it. It's only during certain times.

The Junior League of Las Vegas uses this house as its headquarters but it was also their mission to preserve the house as one of their projects. The house is a great example of mid-century modern architecture. Originally, it was located on the golf course of the Desert Inn Country Club Estates on the Sands/Twain side. When Steve Wynn bought the Desert Inn, the houses from the Estates were leveled except for the Morelli house which was able to be moved. It was the only home with a crawl space and thus could be lifted up to be moved. The house was donated to the Junior League. Part of the tour is a video of moving the house on September 30, 2001, and it's quite interesting to see its move to Eastern, down to Fremont, and up 9th to Bridger. The interior contains many things we don't see in houses today. The tile work of the sinks in the bathroom are amazing, and the step down shower in the master bath is amazing. The Junior League women do the tour and it's quite interesting. Thanks to them, this house has survived and with it part of Las Vegas history. For those who don't know, Antonio Morelli was the musical director for the Sands Hotel.

According to the plaque, it describes the novel as "the amazing adventures of Priest Xuanzang and his three disciples, the irreverent monkey, the greedy but lovable pig, and a hardworking river goblin as they go on the journey in search of Buddhist sutras." Furthermore, "In spite of all the trials and tribulations along the way, they are successful in reaching their goal" which is "the Palace in Western Heaven where the Buddha lives." It's a rather interesting story and the sculpture is a lovely representation of the novel!

Although Las Vegas Chinatown is very tiny, this statue makes it unique for this specific Chinatown. As a Chinese kid growing up a big fan of 西遊記 and watching different adaptations of the story, this statue is most definitely worth taking pictures and videos of.

These were the first things that I saw as I arrived in Shoshone and they blew my mind. They are…read morelocated about a mile before the 178 and 127 intersection in Shoshone, California. They take a while to fully explore and are spread out greatly. One of them even has a burial at the top! Some of the cave holes can easily be accessed, and entered. Just be on the lookout for rattle snakes as these places are notorious for rattler activity! If you are in the area, please check these out. They are as fascinating as anything else in Death Valley.

The house is privately owned and it's where many of the things from the Liberace Museum now reside. The tour I took was lead by Jonathan Warren, an expert on the life of Liberace. He's also is an expert in describing the Liberace items in the mansion. The tour lasted three hours and was very informative. The whole hacienda is not covered but the section closest to Palomino Lane is where the Liberace memorabilia is located. Reservations must be made for the tour. I was the only person yesterday because some that were scheduled needed to change their tour date. It was a fantastic tour. I had been to the Liberace Museum before it closed, but I never would know what I do now because of Mr. Warren's encyclopedic memory!
