Your food is cooked to order in front of you, so you know it's fresh. Even if the place is packed it won't take long, because there are only a handful of seats. And about that food: it's damn good. You can't go wrong with any of the skillets. The biscuits and gravy are wonderful. The toast, slathered with melted butter? Heavenly. The pancakes are enormous and awesome. The coffee, hot and delicious. Best of all, when you're handed your check, you will invariably mutter out loud, "That's it?!" The prices are insanely low. They're what you might have paid for breakfast in the 1980s. Two people can easily walk out of there stuffed and only $15 poorer. Tip Jackie well. She deserves it. It may be hot in there. It will definitely be cramped in there. You might see a fly or two. You'll leave smelling like grease. But you will be happy and satisfied and already planning your next visit. I arrived when they first opened in the morning, in a snowstorm, during finals week... so I was the only one there that I could see, but they do have tons of space to sit down at a table or curl up in a comfy seat... and multiple rooms. I don't usually like McDonalds, for oh-so-many reasons…read more But I like this one. It probably helps that it's located in a sweet, small town in Southern Wisconsin. With a need to eat somewhere quickly, we stopped here. When I sat down at a table (my husband was ordering), the manager (or someone similar) walked over and asked me if I wanted any newspapers to read. He also addressed me as "Ma'am." After he walked away, I noticed that nearly every seat and booth was full. Elderly ladies were eating together, mothers were chatting over cups of coffee, and little kids were quietly enjoying their meals. It seemed like the local spot for Sunday morning breakfast and coffee -- hardly what I'd see at a regular McDonald's! There are also some nice, flat-screen televisions around and a brick fireplace in the middle of one of the dining areas. The floors and seats were clean and modern. All the employees were extremely nice and friendly. I'm still baffled that it was a freaking McDonald's! (Four stars because... well... It's McDonald's. Four is the highest I'd ever give one.)
