Even though the pub was dark and dingy with a low ceiling, it was still well-cleaned and didn't smell like musk. You could tell the employees here took care of the place well. Even if you prefer something lighter, there are a small amount of seats near the window with a lot of light coming in so it does cater to a variety of tastes. ~ Variety: There were plenty of great ales here that my friends enjoyed. I had a whiskey in coke and it was well made at a fair price too. My server was very friendly and personable, which added to the home-y feel of this pub. --- I can't fault Ye Olde Murenger house. If you're into something more quiet, this is the place for you. Even if it wasn't my own personal cup of tea, there is definitely a place for a pub like this. The service was great, just grab your drinks sit down at a table, peruse the really good menu and then order at the till. The food came out cooked freshly and was great, goats cheese on a portabello mushroom is very tasty (ask for the chutney on the side not over it). A rump steak cooked to perfection with all the trimmings and a beer and ale pie for my wife with vegetables went down very well. The finale was the 'pudding table' with 3 puddings, 1 x vanilla ice-cream, 1 x mint ice-cream and a bit of cream is especially for sharing but, would have shared four really good idea and portions were quite big considering. It was recently refurbished and is clean, stylish and the owners were very welcoming. The food was fantastic - very tasty and reasonably priced. Much better than a motorway service station! Come off the M4 at junction 24 and head down the A48 towards the M48 (towards the old severn bridge) and it is a few miles down the road on the right. You can then go over the old bridge and rejoin the M4 - result!
