After having a great call with him to go over our vision and how he works with us to make it happen, he gave us a worksheet to fill out. The worksheet was very important in the planning process and helped us choose songs and music for all the particular moments of the day (many things we hadn't even thought about before looking over this worksheet). Dan came for a site visit so he knew what type of equipment he'd need and to understand the flow of the day. He set up and handled all of the speakers, microphones and equipment. She was truly able to capture our relationship authentically, and for that we will be forever grateful. My fiancé and I are not terribly comfortable in front of a camera, so we were nervous about our engagement session. Courtney instantly put us at ease--she's professional but also very warm, personable, flexible, and easy-going. She had really creative ways to pose us that seemed funny in the moment but resulted in gorgeous, natural-looking photos. (For instance, she kicked off the session by having us look at each other and answer the question "who is the better cook?" It got us talking and laughing!) The photos she delivered (on time, of course) were a mix of beautiful, classic-looking portraits and delightful candids of us being our goofy selves. Ahead of time, she also sent tips for what to wear, which were incredibly helpful. The session also gave us an unexpected opportunity to see Courtney's ability to improvise. We were supposed to do the shoot at a park along the Russian River, but when my fiancé and I got there early we realized that the park's closing time online did not match what was posted at the site and that the parking lot (there was no street parking) would close halfway through our session. I called Courtney and she quickly suggested that we meet in downtown Healdsburg instead and do the session walking around downtown. We appreciated her ability to think on her feet and come up with a plan that was better than the one we'd made to begin with! The Russian River location had been our idea, but downtown Healdsburg gave us such a cool variety of scenery to work with. Weddings often don't go as planned (or so I hear...) and I'm confident that Courtney would be able to handle any last-minute wedding day changes with grace and ingenuity. We would have booked her in a heartbeat for our wedding, but she's already taken! I highly, highly recommend Courtney and would jump at the chance to work with her again.

Getting in front of the camera is not always an easy task, but when you have a professional and grounded photographer to work with, it feels like no one is watching and you can be yourself. Krista met with us and learned about the goals of each of our photography sessions (yes, we love her work so much that we have worked with her multiple times!) and she then found the perfect settings for the shoots. She nailed everything from the lighting and soft colors for our engagement photos to color correcting the tones of our professional headshots to match our website theme. She also did a lot of prep work and had ideas for poses and action shots that she felt would make us shine. One of our most favorite photography sessions with her was in Calistoga when we did AcroYoga in the Courtyard of Castello di Amorosa. It was so much fun to just play and we are still amazed at how she was able to time the shots so that no one was lurking in the background - as there were a large number of tourists there that day.
