He was such a friendly guy, helping me like I was a paying customer. He didn't have to be as accommodating! I went back after my run to thank him, and get a cup of coffee. I'll definitely keep coming in when I get to Camarillo, as I often do. I'll also check out the gallery and performances!

Pretty frustrating experience this morning. My wife put in a door dash order for my favorite coffee…read morelast night for my birthday. It was set to be delivered this morning. Order went through no problem. Trouble started this morning when my wife received a message from the driver that Tree Lounge doesn't have the order (first screenshot). My wife looks and sees she received a cancellation text for the order 1 minute after the driver's message (second screenshot). From the outside this looks like the driver walked in, asked for the order, they said they didn't have it and then cancelled it. So, my wife called Tree Lounge to see what is going on and was told that they cancelled the order because they were "in the middle of their rush". It's easy to see how poorly this situation was handled in general, but also clear no one checked online orders to prep the work for the morning. This order shouldn't be a surprise and the choice to just blind cancel it instead of making it because of what equates to "we're busy" is pretty bad. Takes a lot for me to leave a review. If you don't want to process online order during your rush then set those hours up in door dash. If you screwed up and just didn't check your online orders in the morning, then just make the drink as the next up order. I was invited to attend an event at the Artist Cantine to meet some organizations. So I went, I went with my coworker! The invitation said it was going to be in an art gallery, so that was very interesting. I love going to art galleries, so I was really OK with going to to this event (No offense to other events). OK so the art gallery is located in a strip mall call the Palms ( former Oxnard Outlets). The only times I've ventured out to this center is for my US citizen fingerprints, class for Cal Lutheran, and to buy furniture, however it's very easy to just zoom pass this shopping center because of locatioin wise (you can't get more awkward than tha). OK so I finally found the gallery, the exterior looked really cool, clean, open, relaxed, etc. People who were hosting the event were there, they had wine, hummus, crackers, cheese, and other H'orderves . When I arrived I was like wow! I knew I made a good choice deciding to come, the walls were full of art, interesting art. Art that I actually saw my self in. The owner of the art Gallery gave a speech about his gallery and why he opened it. It looks like he loves art, has passion for it, and therefore he worked hard to open the gallery. He also explained of the events that they are going to start hosting next year "Bohemian Nights." which are going to be cultural events i.e dancing, singing etc. Apparently the owner also invites the artist who post the art, so they can come and talk to the people who are interested. So I'll be keeping up with their website ,to see when artist are coming and what art I can snatch (buy). Which artist are here? Wow I was surprise to see some art from artist that are pretty known, i.e. Lalo Garcia. The owner said that he has art in the Los Angeles Cathedral, Our Lady Of Our Lady of Angels. Very surprise to hear that, it's not very common where you stumble upon art galleries in Oxnard (very rare) so this was a good fresh air! So why 4 stars. I don't like the location, it's really hidden, in a shopping mall that (if it was up to me, I would avoid). But I am going to try to make the effort to try and come here. However, all in all, a great find!

I'm rounding up from 3 1/2 stars to 4 for several reasons. First, because this is another stop in…read morethe Passport 2 History book, and the hostess was delighted to see us bring in the Passport. Kudos! Second, the hostess / cashier was extremely welcoming, informative, and gracious. She was happy to see us, which is always a nice feeling. She let us know that there was a group meeting down in the basement about to get started in 7 minutes, but that we could go down there to see a collection of weavings on display. We popped down to check them out. While not mind-blowing, it was a fairly extensive grouping of closely woven pieces of varying size and design. Back up on the main floor they had their current traveling exhibit of artwork from the collection of the Mullin Automotive Museum. The varied works of photography and paintings in various media are as striking as the autos that inspired them. Well worth experiencing for those who love the sleek lines and elegant components of classic cars. Having been to the Mullin, I don't remember the artwork as much as the cars, which suggests that highlighting the art is a worthwhile endeavor. Because these works were not the property of the Carnegie, but rather on loan, photography was not allowed. Up on the second floor, selfies only were recommended, but photos of the museum's permanent collection were okay. The current selections are of the plein air style, with emphasis on California subjects. Cornelis Botke (husband of Jessie Arms Botke, noted Ventura County painter) is represented with one of his landscapes. I thought I recognized the Botke name. Jessie Arms Botke's works are currently featured at the Santa Paula Art Museum. There is a fair amount of unused space, especially on the second floor. Portable display walls could be utilized to expand the number of works available to see. I suppose lighting could be a challenge, but they could surely figure it out. The building itself, in neoclassical style, was the former Oxnard City Library. It presents a grand facade in downtown Oxnard, adjacent to Plaza Park. Free parking in their own lot and adjacent streets. We saw a fashion photo shoot happening out front when we arrived, and it does make a statement as an architecture background. I understand that it's a popular place for photography. As we were leaving, the hostess mentioned that around the corner is their "Artist in Residence" venue, and suggested that we check it out. The current group of pieces there are mostly focused on photographs, and are vibrant, youth-focused, and often raw in emotion and subject matter. Worth checking out, especially for anyone who thinks that art museums are "stuffy".

Love that we have a little gem like the Studio Channel Islands art center in old town Camarillo…read more I've walked by this building many a times and always was curious what it was like inside. I came for a gala event over the weekend where they rented this space and was excited to check it out. There is plenty of parking as they have their own lot and we also were fine with parking across the street in the free two hour parking spots. The art center is small but a great way to see local art and pottery. They do have single stalls bathrooms inside the studio which is appreciated. It also looked like in one room they had jewelry for sale but I didn't give it a proper look as I was more focused on the artwork and decor. The reason for the docked star is simply because we wandered in as a part of an event that had rented the space and thus there wasn't a whole lot of art on display. What appeared to be up is their around the year collectibles and some small art work pieces. It's definitely better to plan ahead to come here when they are actually running an art exhibit or have an event specific to the art center. At least we got to check it out and have an idea about the space now. Very cool to have a place like this in Camarillo and eager to check them out again in the future so I can leave an updated review.

I'd argue that the "Commemorative Air Force museum" is a better representative of "Air" exhibits…read morethan the Smithsonian's " "Air and Space" museum. Sure the Smithsonian has some of the most historically significant airplane in aviation history but everything is so far away. All the exhibits here including the airplanes are within reach...one can experience there size and in many cases your able to look, touch, and walk into some (historic ) airplanes. One of personal life thrills is being able to sit inside a real MIG 29 cockpit which I did at this museum. Also in this visit we were within feet of one of the only flying B29 super-fortresses left. Our entire family was in awe of the planes and the stories the (wonderful ) docent regaled us with during our visit. It's not fancy...you are in fact inside a hanger with planes that do fly vs the Smithsonian but no less an opportunity to see historical planes and learn about the history of flight and the US Air Force ! Everyone associated with the museum is wonderful and friendly. We were told that the exhibits do change so visiting at least once a year will provide an opportunity to learn and see something new.

It was a very different, but cool thing to see airplanes inside of the venue. We took a picture of one of the airplanes outside and one of the airplanes inside the venue. I took a couple of videos showing how spacious it was. They have a stage for a band, DJ, or performers. From what I read on their website, they have a list of caterers they work with. I don't know which one they had yesterday, but the food was delicious! They also had several cashless bars inside the venue to order drinks from. The only things that I didn't like were that they don't have restrooms inside, so the company rented "fancy porta potties". Another thing was the parking situation. They don't have a lot of parking space so we had to take an Uber to get there and back, but overall, it was nice and great for big events.

Had an amazing experience finishing a half sleeve with Esteban who was recommended by a friend…read more Said friend is working on getting a full sleeve. I ended up having to do 3 sessions. All went well. I was comfortable and the vibes was just right. Esteban did a great job executing all my ideas. Best of all, I was charged half of what I was quoted in LA. It was a win/win for me. I got to be at home and finally finish my left arm sleeve to match the right side. No more ink on my arms. Next up - my legs. Thank you so much Esteban.
