Bells Art Factory is one of Ventura's true gems. Located in a beautifully repurposed former…read moremattress factory, this nonprofit community arts center is deeply rooted in creativity, accessibility, and community care. The space is home to 30+ local artists working in painting, ceramics, photography, jewelry, and more. In addition to artist studios, Bells offers youth art classes, artist-led workshops, and cultural programming including Ballet Folklórico, Aztec Dance, and yoga (Monday-Friday) with a suggested donation, making wellness and movement accessible to everyone. I've personally attended donation-based sound baths and their Día de Muertos event, and both were thoughtfully organized, welcoming, and grounded in community and cultural respect. The value here is undeniable. You are getting high-quality programming, meaningful cultural experiences, and direct support of local artists and educators, all without high price barriers. Parking is available in a small lot on site, though spaces are limited. Street parking is also available in the surrounding neighborhood. They also host First Fridays, which are always a great way to experience the space, meet artists, and support local creativity. Everything here feels intentional and community-driven. If you're looking for an affordable, enriching space that truly invests back into the community, Bells Art Factory is absolutely worth visiting and donating to.

I do want to like this place and support a local business.... But. They just don't make it easy…read more The location is great. Neat little place and I love the local art. Those are the positives and that's where it ends. Let's start with the main product, coffee. It's HORRIBLE! I could be snarky and insulting but I kind of feel bad for them. I've tried a few drinks and there is this crazy after taste that is simply unpleasant. The baked goods are hot and miss at best. Often dry and tasteless. Now, the staff. Over the years they've had some wonderful people, but the good ones don't seem to stay more than a few months. For whatever reason they retain anyone devoid of personality and energy. Product knowledge is virtually nonexistent. Enthusiasm? You'd think that the caffeine would wake them up, but no. It's like they are on heroin. I've interacted with someone who I'm told was the owner, but I can't imagine someone so blah and uninterested decided to open a coffee shop. This place has potential if they simply replace the coffee, staff, and sell to someone who actually cares.

Love that we have a little gem like the Studio Channel Islands art center in old town Camarillo…read more I've walked by this building many a times and always was curious what it was like inside. I came for a gala event over the weekend where they rented this space and was excited to check it out. There is plenty of parking as they have their own lot and we also were fine with parking across the street in the free two hour parking spots. The art center is small but a great way to see local art and pottery. They do have single stalls bathrooms inside the studio which is appreciated. It also looked like in one room they had jewelry for sale but I didn't give it a proper look as I was more focused on the artwork and decor. The reason for the docked star is simply because we wandered in as a part of an event that had rented the space and thus there wasn't a whole lot of art on display. What appeared to be up is their around the year collectibles and some small art work pieces. It's definitely better to plan ahead to come here when they are actually running an art exhibit or have an event specific to the art center. At least we got to check it out and have an idea about the space now. Very cool to have a place like this in Camarillo and eager to check them out again in the future so I can leave an updated review.
