I absolutely love this place - the set up is quaint and beautiful - you enter through the side door on the left. I walked in and I felt like I came home. The organization is wonderful and you'll find things you won't find anywhere else the stitch markers are so cool. You can even have some tea and sit down and knit or crochet. This is the best yarn store in Texas! The owner and staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the store has as amazing variety of high quality yarns of every type. I love that I can get both indie yarns and yarns from the big manufacturers all in one place. She's also willing to order yarns and colors for me, which is amazing!! During covid shutdowns she offered free shipping and local delivery. Everyone in the store is complying with pandemic safety measures while still providing amazing customer care. Since this "hobby" is my anxiety and stress relief, it was super important that I have access to yarn with the added stresses of covid. I visited this shop for the first time today, intending to only buy some yarn for an accent color to a top I was making. I ended up leaving with a sweaters quantity of alpaca/wool yarn and another tops worth of mad tosh yarn, and I have no regrets xD They have a wonderful array of great quality yarns at fair prices. I could spend hours going through all the shelves and bins but I had my hubby with me and he was starting to make rolly eyes. The ladies here were so welcoming and friendly, I felt so comfortable just shopping around and never felt pressured. They have lovely accessories in stock too, I picked up a beautiful shawl stick since I didn't have one They will for sure be my go-to LYS and probably a stop for me any time I visit Georgetown :) read more

I fell in LOVE as soon I stepped through the door. Yarn, yarn EVERYWHERE! It's a beautiful sight indeed and the quality of the products are unparalleled to what you'll get at a big box store. If you're like me, shopping at craft/hobby stores for your yarn because you didn't know there were other options.. lemme tell you, get your behind in the car and drive here. This will be your new home. Which is not just a thing to say because it's actually in a house with rooms full of, you guessed it, YARN! Okay I'm done ranting about yarn. The lady (I cannot remember her name and it was a single letter... maybe D) that helped me was very nice and knowledgeable. I was in the store for a long time just browsing trying to find the right colors and weights for my project and she answered all of my questions. I am sad to post this negative review: Let's face it, you can get beautiful yarn at any boutique yarn shop. What sets yarn shops apart is the culture that the owners establish and how customers are made to feel when they visit to work on their projects. This shop has a culture of intolerance. I felt as if I was stuck in the 1950s, lots of pursed lips and disapproving throat clearing, albeit pretty darn quiet. The employees were at times rude to me, taking liberties where they had no business. Avoid the stinky cigarette smoker and the controlling worker, she's easy to spot, she acts as if she owns the place. The good things I can say are that the sale inventory is well stocked, find savings of 25-40%! The trunk shows are awesome, highlighting local talent! They have a great line of project bags, that have leashes, to keep yarn from tangling when working with more than one skein. I had never seen that feature in a project bag! They have great notions and nifty samples, you can really get inspired. read more

Absolutely precious little shop. I live just down the street from this location. Every time my wife and I visit it's like visiting a sweet grandmas house. It's warm and cozy with tons of cute items everywhere. Shawnee is a complete sweetheart that goes out of her way for her customers. Tons of cute events and knitting nights. As a husband who supports his wife's hobby, I can sneak in here and ask Shawnee for help on picking out gifts and yarns to surprise my wife. My grandparents lived in a small, cute house. Every corner of it was filled with comforting things: photos, dolls, doilies, blankets, pillows. It was crowded, but cozy feeling. Being surrounded with so many happy things was comforting. This is exactly how Knitting Cup feels to me. A small, cozy shop with happy things put in every place they could possibly fit. This wee shop was a wonderfully comforting atmosphere, and the lady who owns it and her friends and customers are all so, so sweet. I just wish I lived closer, then I could stop by more often! Going here is a good mood maker pick-me-up. Knitting Cup carries many brands across many price points, all good quality. No matter your price range, you can most likely find something here that you can afford for your project. Of interest to me especially is the decent-sized selection of warm weather yarns--cotton, bamboo, viscose/rayon, etc. These types of yarns can be a bit tricky to find, but Knitting Cup offers a good selection in a good colour range, rather than just 1-2 colours of each kind. The shop is organized by animal fibers, plant fibers, sock/lace weight, and then a supplies/tools/patterns room and a sale room. Easy to navigate. I just adore going here. I could gush all day. Drove all the way from south Austin, calling before I left to make sure they were open so they new I was stopping by. Zero customers in the store. Received zero customer service. Even made eye contact with the employees. Was one of my favorite stops on the annual yarn crawl. Sadly will never make the trek to support this yarn store again. read more

I really enjoy the selection of yarns in this shop. There is a good selection of fibers - animal, plant, synthetic - and blends of them. Sorry, can't suggest this place to anyone. We tried several times to shop here and extend my daughters skills. EVERYONE with the EXCEPTION of the owner treated my daughter with respect. The owner made it clear on three different occasions that she could not be bothered with anything regarding her. Saying she was an ex teacher who clearly did not like kids anymore. We bought all our supplies from her and still, she was rude, intolerant, and treated my daughter shamefully. We left and will never go back. She "had" a great location and now has a shack of a place will tiny rooms, minimal (like 4) parking spaces, and everything stuffed into many spaces. read more
