I had the Klipptones play at a 60th birthday party where I had assembled one of the most diverse group of family, friends, and neighbors of all ages. The group showed up wearing black suits, which gave them a cool, blues brothers sort of look. Every member showed great talent. The lead singer has a beautiful voice with a broad range. The sax player played like he'd been playing for 60 years, yet looked about half that age. The bass and drums kept the beat, and kept it interesting, and the lead guitar showed his chops too. What was incredible was the range of tunes they do. Not "duplicates" of the original bands (if you want that, play the album!) They played covers close to the original, but layered in their own style, making the song work in the set and for the mood of the evening. Which brings me to another talent they showed: playing to a crowd of just under 100 people, ranging in age, politics, health, and everything - how do you keep then engaged and interested, with big sound, but not ear-splitting for the older ones? Well, they did it perfectly!!! I let them choose the songs, playing to their strengths. They changed things up every once in a while to make it interesting and get people onto the dance floor. Even my 89 year old mother got up to dance! From a commercial perspective, they are professional, and while not the least expensive option, WELL-WORTH their price. I checked out more than 50 different bands in the SF Bay Area, viewing their web sites, watching their videos, listening to their tracks. The next closest band was 10x the price! I can't say enough about them. They even had me shed a tear or two with the soul they put into a few of the numbers that had meaning for my wife and I. We can't say enough good things about the Klipptones! These musicians are the real thing--professional and polished. So many of our guests raved about their playing, which included jazzy background music early in the evening and on-fire, rock-out dance music later on. They have an incredibly large and diverse playlist and worked with us to select tunes that fit with our party and audience. Josh (lead singer and band leader) has an uncanny talent of adding comments and song introductions that were so personal--as if he knew us. Jesse (band manager) did a fabulous job of working with us to plan the event and make decisions, for instance, about location of the band in our yard. Josh and the Klipptones are incredible (An aside, the Klipptones have opened for Big Bad Voodoo Daddy - yes, they are that GOOD!). I originally booked him for a new year's eve gig, but then COVID had other plans, so we moved to April. COVID was still an issue, so we finally moved it to end of August (and guests plus band had all been vaccinated at that point) for my wife's 50th birthday celebration. Everyone in the band arrived slightly early, they set up quickly, brought their own equipment, lighting, music stand, etc. And their music. Fantastic. Josh used a list of songs that I gave him as inspiration of what to play that evening - which had a lean toward swing, lindy, and big band era music (my wife and I are big on lindy-hop). But they also switched it up with modern music that had a similar, highly danceable beat - adapting to the mood and vibe of the evening and all our guests. They were flexible and let us make speeches using their mics. Most of all, Josh and vocalist Mayra are incredibly friendly and down to earth. It was great getting to both know them and have them as our band. I am booking them again for our upcoming company holiday party (and keeping my fingers crossed that they are available!). We had a white themed party and they were also accommodating about that and wore white jackets. Super awesome, professional, and versatile musicians! I was looking for great live entertainment for a Senior Prom event for my senior residents at work and found this band from San Francisco on Yelp! Josh was super friendly, responded quickly, and was super eager to help accomodate our particular budget, which was definitely a struggle when I was looking for entertainers on GigSalad. On the day of the event, he and his guitarist set up early and were all set promptly to start. They professiobally played Rat Pack genre songs as we requested, and even took outside requests from the packed senior audience. Both of them were up for anything, as they even sang "How Much is that Doggie in a Window" to the excitement of one particular resident. I also loved how they took time in between songs to shortly engage and converse with the audience. All the seniors loved the event and especially the entertainment; while they are usually motionless in their chairs, I have never seen them bob their heads and clap along which the Klipptones got going. Our event ended up being a blast with residents still talking about it the next day and wearing their corsages. I would definitely recommend the Klipptones. They're professional, fun, and would make any event a blast (or romantic I guess if that's what you're going for)! read more

This review is long overdue!!! Just want to say that the Klipptones was the icing on our wedding cake! they are simply amazing! Josh is such an awesome guy to work with- super responsive, flexible, reasonable, and sneaky! Sneaky?! Yes! My sister who is my Matron of Honor contacted Josh to be a part of her speech. They collaborated on what we call one of the most epic MOH speeches ever created! My sister started her speech and just when I thought the water works was about to start, she started to sing "Can't Take my Eyes Off of You" by Frankie Valli. Their sample songs were amazing, and we kept our fingers crossed that they will respond and that they will be available. They did and they were! We went to see them play dance music at the hotel in Oakland, just to make sure, and were even more impressed. We recently hired The Klipptones for a welcome reception with approximately 150 people in attendance the night before my son's wedding. I asked that they do a "rat pack" style party with 50's 60's music to start, and then turn it up to some more modern dancing music. All guests entered to some wonderful Sinatra and Big Band style renditions of various hits, and by the end of the night the dance floor was packed and the crowd did not want the party to end. All the band players were great, and Mayra and Josh make a dynamic singing duo. Jesse, the band manager, and Josh, the band leader were great to work with leading up to the event, and they were very flexible about staging needs and song lists. The Klipptones provided music, entertainment and MC services at our daughter's wedding at Jefferson Street Mansion in Benicia, CA on 5/14/22. They were absolutely, utterly fantastic in every way. They have a super-tight, funky beat and sound that absolutely made the party. From Josh's smooth, skilllful MC and announcing stylings to their exciting Hava Nagila and Hora dance (where the bride and groom are raised in chairs and spun around), they were thrilling and galvanizing in every way. Not only do they play fantastic rock and funk, but they're an extremely accomplished and classy jazz ensemble for cocktail hour and the reception, and their quiet violin music as guests arrived and the bride and groom processed down the aisle was pitch perfect. Their saxophonist and female vocalist were tops in every way. Josh and the group were extremely comfortable and super-accommodating with last-minute changes we requested for the setup and music. Josh is AMAZING! We saw him and his band perform at Tupelo, one of our favorite bars in the North Beach. They have a very wide range of songs - from swing, jazz, rockabilly to most current pop! You will be pleasantly surprised to hear your fav Sinatra song followed by Hozier' "Take me to church". So cool and so rare and no weird jazz which will nurse you to sleep swiftly. Him and another vocalist, very attractive lady btw, seem to work together so cohesively and smooth, - their positive and fun energy captures you instantly, and his bandsmates all wear smiles on their faces. The Klipptones were a highlight of our wedding. From the moment we contacted Josh, we were blown away. The Klipptones were by far the easiest, friendliest, and professional vendor to work with from beginning to end. I was never worried about anything related to the music and our guests enjoyed pre ceremony music, danced all night and are still talking about how great the band was. We hired the Klipptones to play at our wedding, and they really went above and beyond. Firstly, they are great musicians. I enjoyed the contrast of the male and female vocals, and all the instrument players were skilled. They do swing/jazz music that is very danceable, with some swingified pop songs that were a lot of fun. The guests enjoyed both dancing and just listening to their music. Josh was very responsive in the months coming up to the wedding, going over playlists and such. We wanted to do a song not on their repertoire, and they learned it for us and did a beautiful rendition. Josh was also great about MCing a bit during the evening, and he even offered to handle our playlist of MP3 songs for various parts of the evening. From the very beginning we felt that a live band was the way to go, but worried about not including our own favorite songs or that people wouldn't dance as much if they couldn't sing along easily.
