    Crab cakes

Last night our family and close friends had the great pleasure of having Chef Patrick and his wife Cherie cook for us. From the moment they arrived until they left, they not only amazed us with the dishes they made but with the knowledge they gave on each dish and ingredients they used. We started with the best Poke dish with Japanese sweet potato chips, I have had. Then moved onto dynamite shrimp, then to Crab cakes (his spin was outstanding), Caesar salad, homemade sourdough croutons that reminded us of home. We then had a nice break, and received more great knowledge from Patrick, while he started the tenderloin main dish. His tenderloin dish was something to amaze the tastebuds! We finished the night with tropical cheese cake, to put us all over the top with a scrumptious bourbon caramel sauce. Now if that was not enough they cleaned up the kitchen and left it in a state as clean maybe cleaner than when they started, plus took out the trash, wow what full service. For an extra special evening, I would highly recommend Chef Patrick and Cherie. Our special night was more than we expected!! Menu: Kona Kampachi Poke Tamari, Togarashi, Citrus Soy, Black Truffle, Smoked Maldon Salt, Ogo, Purple Potato Chips Shrimp Dynamite Beer Battered Shrimp, Sweet Soy, Garlic Tobiko Mayo, Asian Slaw, Fried Wontons Crab Cakes Wasabi, Lump Crab Meat, Japanese Pickles, Avocado, Caviar Caesar Salad Parmesan, Fried Sourdough, Anchovies, Romaine, Garlic Charcoal Roasted Filet USDA Prime, Soy Demi, Crispy Shallots, Garlic Potato Puree, Seasonal Vegetables Tropical Cheese Cake Passionfruit Caramel Sauce, Seasonal Fruit, Cinnamon Toast Crunch & Graham Crust, Mesquite Salt

    Fully cooked...OMG!

OMG! Chef Patrick was the best! He made Lobster Wontons, Ahi Black truffle Poke, Truffle Tots, Korean Ribeye(was huge!!!), and Punalu'u Bread Pudding( to die for!). He also made from scratch some yummy kid foods for the little ones. From top to bottom I was impressed and so were my foodie friends. It was a great experience! I wish I would have gotten more pictures but I was so focused on eating it! His lovely wife was so plesant and made sure to clean up everything( I think they actually left it cleaner than when they came). Overall, I would highly recommend. The price was good, the food was fantastic, the experience was over the top! When we are back on the big island, no hesitation, Chef Patrick will be coming back.

So long story short, Fukuya has been around since the 1930's and I've stopped by countless times over the years. Not my favorite Okazuya, but definitely one of the busiest with one of the largest selections! Authentic, convenient, & open before 5am! In the end, I highly recommend Fukuya for those that live in Hawaii with roots that go back generations to the plantation days. Heck, I'd recommend to just about anyone who loves simple picnic foods that our grandparents once enjoyed. Not much has changed over the years except the bright building and prices. 5/5/26 Found it hard to believe that I've never been here considering it has been around forever…read more I was wanting some sweet & sour spareribs which I normally get from Zippy's but they did not have it as a special that day. I read online from several foodies that Ige's has the best on the island and it was their Tuesday special. Easy to find, behind Cutter Ford, past Napa Auto Parts to the end of the building. They are a hole in the wall with a huge parking lot that can get pretty full. I was fortunate to find one right in front. It was just after noon & I was expecting a long line but no, no line. In fact, there were only 2 people at each counter window. They also had some other daily specials so I decided on a mixed plate of BBQ beef tips and sweet & sour spareribs. Got to the window and the guy told me the beef tips sold out so I opted for just the spareribs for $15. I was greeted by 2 friendly employees, a lady at the register and a guy, who got the plates. Service was very quick and the prices are cheap to the massive amount of food you get. They mostly take cash and will take credit card, $20 minimum. The plates come wtih you choice of white or brown rice, and mac or toss salad. It also comes with pickled onions, but they'll ask you if you want it. After I picked up my bag, it was pretty heavy, at least a couple of pounds. When I got home, I wasn't wrong. The spareribs filled more than 1/2 the plate! Taste - hands down the best sweet & sour spareribs on the island, better than Zippy's. Flavor was spot on with just the right balance of sweet to sour. The meat was so tender, fall off the bone. Speaking of which, there were very few bones in this dish! Nice surprise since a lot of places serve theirs with lots of bones & meat is not tender. The pickled onions were ono! The plate could easily be shareable, in fact, it lasted me 3 meals+. Ige's is certainly a hidden gem - great tasting food, affordable prices, quick and friendly service, good value. You can also call in your order and you don't have to stand in the long line to get it. They have a separate window past the main entrance with a sign saying, Take-Out Window. I will definitely be back . Support local!

Those Crispy Crinkle Fries topped with Shreds of Kalbi were a match made in Heaven. Those Crinkle Fries really stole the show. I absolutely love Crispy Crinkle Fries when they are cooked perfectly. Not only is their Menu amazing but the Local Braddah taking your order is one of the nicest guys around . No matter how busy they get this guy's service and attitude is top notch. So I'm figuring, they charge about $30 a lb? I can't believe what was in the container weighed even 1/2 pound. Cashier suggested the mini plate which was $13 and change. One scoop rice and about 10 chopped pieces of lettuce as the salad. Oh, and the stew dumped on the mini container from the half pound container. I should've went to Ige's down the street.
