This year Willie Thompson advice us while preparing our 2018 taxes, Ms carter will not be in this season (but that she is ok) and will be back for next season. They charge you 600.00 upfront and then to prepare your taxes. You end up paying over 1k. They send in your taxes without your approval or signature and let you handle the fall out for their mistakes. Worst experience ever!!! read more

Another fan of Kaizen! My fiance' and I had H&R Block do our taxes and then they shared with us what the bill was. OH NO! So we took our paperwork back and found Kaizen. They quoted the fee over the phone and it was probably 1/2 of what HRB was going to charge. Good deal, let's give them a try. We were given an appointment according to our convenience. Upon arriving, I was impressed by the office décor. Very tastefully decorated and fresh. A hospitality bar is waiting for you to help yourself. As soon as you walk in you're going to feel welcomed. Now, for the tax prep itself. While my Fiance was being helped by Mr. Willie, Miss. Elena started inputting my info so that when Mr. Willie was ready to do mine, there would be less wait time. So efficient! The total effect was equal to HRB, in that the return did eventually add up to what HRB came up with, less the overpriced fee. The only hitch was that an earned income deduction for me was missed and after my Fiance talked to Mr. Willie and a phone call was made, the deduction was put into play and my return was a much healthier dollar amount. Over all, Kaizen was a great experience. I would suggest to anyone to go over the paperwork they email you and compare it to last years if your situation hasn't changed drastically. This is probably good to do no matter who does your taxes. They are very friendly an great to work with and very reasonably priced. The price quoted was the price we paid. I would feel very comfortable in saying that Kaizen tax preparers are honest and also to recommend them to any one looking for a good group to work with. read more

Once I found Kaizen accounting and scheduled an appointment with Zach I came to the office with high expectations. Needless to say , my expectations were met. If I could give no star I totally would! This place, the person who did my tax was totally uneducated and did not even know how to do my taxes right, he didn't include my 1099 form in my tax return and now I have to deal with all IRS issues which is all due to his lack of knowledge! When I am asking what the heck happened he says I did see your form, then why the heck you didn't do anything about it??? I have no clue why people would rate this people as knowledgeable, if I did my tax online myself it would have been better! Charging me for 200$ and giving me this crap?? I had a very bad experience with the lady at Kaizen who did my taxes last year. Perhaps the other accountants at Kaizen are much better (as implied by the good ratings), but I will not be coming back here. The lady was very nice, but she was unfamiliar with the tax software, had no knowledge of tax law, and was terrible with numbers. First, she could not answer any question I had about small business deductions or tax law. She also kept making simple math mistakes over and over, such as entering the same deduction in multiple categories, adding numbers incorrectly, and forgetting to add some numbers entirely. Even though I told her I wanted to be honest with my tax return, she added a zero to one of my duductions without asking me. After I pointed it out, she said my number was "too low" compared to what other people put. After two hours of going over and over the same list of deductions (about 30 items, which I had prepared ahead of time) and finding never-ending mistakes, I asked her to delete everything and walked her though every single field in the tax softwere. After I walked her through her own tax software, double checked everything for errors, and got some help from another employee there, I did get a decent tax return. But considering the three or so total hours I spent there, the expensive fee, and the fact that I got almost no help from the "professional", I would have been much better off using an online tax software. Perhaps this was a new employee/ consultant hired only for the tax season, but her lack of training, lack of tax deduction knowledge, and lack of basic math skills implies that Kaizen does not take the time to screen and train their tax preparers. read more

I just got my taxes done through Kaizen which provided a great corrective experience. I had plenty of bad experiences in the past doing my taxes, but with Kaizen it has been great. They took the time to answer all of twenty billion questions as well as was patient in clarifying all of my questions. Regardless of who I chose, I fully expected to not have a good experience. I mean... we are dealing with the IRS. I was more than pleasantly surprised with the experience I had with Kaizen. Really unhappy about the service I got earlier this year (end of march) for my 2014 Tax Return. First of all, they were polite and really quick in response - both on phone and email before the appointment. I have no problem for this part and I had wanted to give them 4-5 star for this when I first got in contact with them. However, the service itself would be 0 star if I could give 0 star. When I call to make the appointment, I mentioned that my income is super simple (only 1 W-2 from one employer) and the reason I'm looking for help is because of my dual status last year. I was under the condition that I changed from F1 student visa into a PR green card status. The filing requirement gets really unclear because of dual status and I wanted some help. Also, I scheduled an emergency flight out of state and really want to just pay and get it done. The girl on the phone say there is no problem and they have plenty of experience on this situation. I even follow up with a email re-confirming this situation and they confirmed having no problem. I got a quote of "perhaps around $60, probably even cheaper since the income is so straight forward". The day of appointment came and I was introduced to the "helper" really fast. They were nice and fast, which is a plus. However, since the "helper" isn't really a CPA, I'm guessing he doesn't really know what he is doing. Apparently, nothing was mentioned to him of my dual status and he doesn't really seem to understand even after I explained to him. He made the decision I should use 1040NR and started filing. To be honest, this is when I started to feel really uncomfortable. I'm not really looking for a data input assistant to just file up a 1040NR form - if it's just filing that form, I've filed it 2 years already. He basically just filed the blank without really thinking what he is filing. I even caught a few mistake and confirmed & corrected it during the filing process. At the end, they generated a tax return and say they can't electronic file it due to NR status. Here is where they earn themselves 0 star. The price came out $200 and you can't reject it after they generated the forms. This is a total fraud in every point of view. It's not like I did not make it clear to you before scheduling the appointment, and why would the price more than triple? Ok, if they just ripped me off and did a good job, I'll still give them 1.5 or 2 star. The best part is - I felt really uncomfortable about their unprofessional service and decided to spend the whole night digging up tax regulation (during the night which I should be packing for my flight tomorrow) and realize they have my tax return completely filed incorrectly. I spent 3 hour studying and re-filing it myself - luckily they couldn't send it out and I have to send it myself, otherwise I will have to file for amendment. I finished it at midnight and send it out so I could catch my flight the next day. You can imagine the pressure. So, I spend a morning at their office, got ripped off for $200 buck, and still had to do the tax return myself. Awesome service! If you are sure you are 100% US residence and you have only (1) W-2 to report. If you are looking for a typing assistant to enter number, which you have to figure out the number yourselves. I strongly recommend you go somewhere else. I didn't had time to complain to them right afterward - because I was catching an emergency flight and end up in Asia for three full month due to family issue. But at least I got back in time to put up a alert for anyone considering them next year. I'm more than welcome to talk to Kaizen if they believe any part of this is not true. read more

Wow! Who would have thought it would have been this easy to handle your taxes!?! Willie and Stephanie were so helpful and complete from prep to file of our taxes. With the new additions in our lives, we were not going to handle it ourselves this year. We went to one of those places with the twirly signs and got a bad vibe from the place. We then checked out yelp for an assist and we found Kaizen. Great Experience to say the least. Last week I had my taxes done at Kaizen Accounting. The staff was very accommodating with my busy schedule. I was greeted at the door by the friendly office coordinator and office manager. I was then offered refreshments before my appointment. They even offered to assist with my three month old who wanted to come with dad. ;-) Great customer service!!! The tax preparer was very knowledgeable and I received great advice for all my questions I had. I tried to test out turbotax free software before my appointment and put in all my documents and I did not receive nearly as much of a refund as what I was able to receive by going to Kaizen. I have been to other tax preparers and the enrolled agents at Kaizen are the best in the Bay Area!!! read more

Kaizen accounting has been such a great help to me! There are many things I could say about my great experiences because I have been going to them for about 4 years now. First off one year I started to try to do my taxes on turbo tax and then ended up wanting to finish with kaizen. And I'm so glad I did because they got me over $2000 extra in a refund that turbo tax didn't find! Kaizen is beyond thorough.
