As we walked into the door, we were offered to select from a variety of Popsicle. The Junction has a $5 entrance fee and a drag show and by a drag show I mean this show dragged on forever. The environment tends to be either too crowded or empty depending on what time you arrive. The drinks are pricey and the lines for the bathrooms tend to be quite unbearable.The music was great for dancing yet the dance floor tends to be rather small. Good times! We have spent a few nights watching the Olympics on their fabulous screens. The food is good (we have mostly eaten pub fair, but there look like some other interesting things on the menu). The wait staff is friendly. Some folks have said they should make up their mind if they are a gay or straight bar.....I think it really doesn't matter! Everyone is welcome! This is a nice place with a decent patio. Food is pricey, but it makes up for itself by being better than The Score's food. Wings came out nice and crisp, but not steaming hot. My friend had a chicken sandwich and he rated it 4 out of 5. read more

Always a Fun Time @ The Junction! Great Staff, Reasonable Prices and Wicked Tunes!

Junction is alright... it's not great, but it's not too horrible either. I find myself here at least once a month, as there aren't too many options in Vancouver in the way of gay clubs. My experiences here have been hit-and-miss, really depending on the group of friends that I come here with. The crowd is fine, but just like any gay bar, be prepared to deal with the inflated egos of entitled white gays. Also, I find that there are always the same people here, who mostly stay within their own groups... so this isn't a great place to go if you have a goal of meeting somebody new. The music is fairly good and easy to dance to, mostly top 40s, with the occasional peppering of throwbacks. All in all, pretty standard music for a gay bar. There are regular drag shows which are usually not too horrible... but the dance floor is closed while they're happening, and the shows tend to drag on for too long, when most people come here to dance. In my experience, the staff have been very friendly and efficient. But to be honest, my favourite thing about this place is the relatively cheap $5 cover. read more

I gravitate to where the people are great and the dancing is awesome. Drinks and food, ah well, don't much as I'm not picky, so I don't have a review on that. I always wind up at the Junction because, duh! $5.00 to get in, I always make new friends as everyone is so friendly, even the staff who are rock down busy and I have never been disappointed by the music. Rude customer service. This incident happened on Friday, June 2nd, at the closest bartender to the door. Gave $4-$5 tip the first four rounds. The fifth round, my friend asked how much it was, the bartender didn't respond and grabbed money directly from him. I asked him why he did that, considering i bought from him the first four rounds. The bartender's responder was, what's the problem. I said it's a bit rude that you just grabbed money from him, especially I just gave you $4-$5 tip for four rounds . He said "what's the big deal". I asked to speak to the manager, and explain the situation, his response was, so? What's the issue? I said to him, if you don't understand the issue, than you shouldn't be manager. Than he went ahead being defensive saying I'm being condescending. I left and went to a different bar that night. read more

I walk up to the bartender. It's dead as fuck. I ask for two waters (but am obviously holding cash to still tip him). He gives me two cups and points to the drinking fountain in the corner which I awkwardly half filled the cups with. He could have easily done it for me with ice and the gun. Great customer service... Experienced a very rude bartender here the other night. A friend of mine approached the bar and asked the bartender- Glenn, for two glasses of water. He dismissively replied "they're over at the cooler" without providing any general direction. When my friend then followed up asking for a couple of empty glasses, he then replied that he could only serve my friend bottled water. As my friend was paying for the bottled waters, my friend accidently dropped the terminal on the counter, to which the bartender replied with calling my friend a "shithead". Not only am I disappointed by the obvious rudeness to a patron, I am shocked that my friend had to pay for water in a drinking establishment.that has a social responsibility to ensure its patrons drink responsibly. Don't go to this bar. Rude service and employees who don't understand customer service is their job. Mark a bartender at this place abrasive pushed myself and a friend of mine to move out of the "service area". The bar was dead!!! Went to "The Junction" in August of 2013. Loved the ambience of the place during its quieter portion of the evening. The bartender, whom was extremely friendly, made a super awesome drink that tasted just like SweeTarts candies. Loved it, will stop in again when in Vancouver. read more

Yesterday evening at 2:10 am my friend and I experienced terrible customer service to the point I had to contact the manager, Byron to discuss a teachable moment. The facility was closing at 3 am and I had inquired if there was a cover charge for the last 45-50 minutes. The reply I received was a point to a sign above my head and "don't you see the sign is still up?" in a condescending tone. I explained to the young lady, I've been to many clubs in the states and overseas that are not concern about charging cover within a certain time frame, because the promoter and/or owner's priority is to make as much off the bar before last call. The unpleasant interaction did not stop there, the young lady asked what would we like to do- still in a condescending tone. My reply was no and proceed to walk away before recieving more unpleasant body gestures and remarks which included "Buh-Bye. The exit is that way." The conversation with Byron wasn't any different and was defensive as soon as he approached my friend and I. During the interaction, my friend and I spoke in a calm manner which wouldn't cause any concern of dealing with intoxicated or hostile patrons. I explained to Byron the purpose of the conversation was to point out a staff development opportunity in the near future. Byron then replied that he had spoken to the staff member prior to speaking to us and he was certain and implied the order of events were fabricated on our part. Byron's comments and body language during the conversation became hostile and erratic to the point he walked away while telling us, "I'm going to get the staff member to talk to you." because again he felt our story of events were inaccurate. Once Byron returned he was very apologetic verbally and his body language was less hostile. Byron offered us to come in with no fee yet we were no longer interested after the initial interaction with the staff member in addition to the manager. Overall, I will not return (my friend and I are tourist) nor recommend this venue to individuals in the LGBTQ scene in addition to our personal networks within the states or overseas. read more

Nice waiter, great patio, BUT $11 for nachos? If these were the huge plate of nachos you get at "The Foundation" on Main St., then fine but seriously the smallest batch of nachos in the world! when Ody closed down in 2010, we (gays) try to look for a nice club where we feel comfortable & relax, where we can drink, have some fun, enjoy a good music...some came here to junction...only few people came to this place at that time, me & my friends keep on telling, this place is such a waste, why only few people are patronizing to this place? especially when most of the staffs are from Ody... but we keep on coming here, even though there's not much people in...we did few drinks then after midnight we go to other bars ( numbers, Celeb)...we still come to this place until the time when more & more people come to this place, mostly overflow from oasis...& more & more people come here...until they're charging covers...& opppss they're charging also people who are patronizing this place when there were only few people come to this place...its ok, its only $5 anyway, we dot mind paying.. Now...the line is horrible..there are 2 lines...which is confusing...why do they have 2 lines? line is too slow, last saturday (april 7'2012) i have to line up for almost an hour...WHY???? sometimes when you go to other places like seattle ( i hate comparing vancouver to other cities) theres a long line up, but it moves...in here...it move so slow and even stop...& when you get inside ...you were wondering, whats with the slow moving line up when the place is not even full...... i only go to this plaxe usually on friday & sometimes saturday...ood music sometimes, sometimes not too good nor not too bad...depends on who is the DJ... sometimes good crowd...sometimes so so...but this is a place where im comfortable. this is usually the place i tell my friends to meet, on TGIF i mean Friday, after a stressfull week at work...all in all if I want to have some fun, this is the place. but i hope one of this days there will only be one line...& u dont have to wait for an hour to get in...they should treat everyone as VIP.. calling junction manager or owner, check out the bars in seattle cuffs or neigbours or r place...THEY ONLY HAVE ONE LINE UP....& people dont have to wait more than 10 mintues to get in... read more

I have nothing but bad things to say about this place. They keep the line ups long so people think they're waiting for something great. The doormen are really obnoxious and stand-offish and it seems they take bribes to let hipsters in while you wait in line for forty minutes. I would recommend going to numbers, which is less pretentious, and is actually a lot more fun. read more
