As someone who has always had healthy hair, losing my strands due to illness has been very distressing. I am not a wig wearer, and knew next to nothing about them, but I was open to learning. I planned a consultation at Hairs 2 U to coincide with my time in town. Ms. Arnold was patient as she explained the different types of wigs, and tried a few on me before I felt I had the perfect fit! She then made sure that I knew how to take care of it, how to style it, and how to re-order it (or any of the styles) online. Although I live in Atlanta, where there are PLENTY of wig shops, I will continue to buy from Hairs 2 U - I love their mission, and I love my new wig!

Lois is very kind and helpful--I came in looking for a specific style, for a last-minute event, and she found exactly what I was looking for. She allowed me to try it on before purchasing (with cap of course), which was great. I bought a synthetic wig for a costume, and the quality was much better than anything you'd find on Amazon--it not only fit right, but the hair felt and looked natural, and it was at a very fair price. I'll definitely come here again.

It's devastating and hard enough to get a cancer diagnosis and loose your hair. My encounter with Lisa was over and above. She is an expert in her field and really cares about her customer. aI really don't like that all my reviews are negative. I am going to get on the positive ones ASAP…read more SOOOO......This store seems like it could be really great for older women (50+) with some money to spend who know what they want. It was not the right place for a 29 year old woman whose hair was falling in small clumps over time but who had half of her hair left when she entered (ok, I'm going to stop writing in the third person now). I had never tried a wig on in my life that wasn't a costume and did not know the difference between a 150% remi hand tied from a yaki 120% swiss lace front from... yeah. What first hit me when I walked in was "holy sheitel!" because there were head scarves if the most Boca of prints overflowing from atop every display. I told the proprietress and her employee, who i believe was Russian, that i knew nothing about wigs, needed one, preferably not my everyday fare (long, brown, scalpy frizzball). As you can see in the pictures below, although I tried on maybe 5 or 6, I lied two. Problem was that the blonde had to be shipped because it wasn't in stock in that color and... The brown Raquel Welch lace front not-heat-friendly synthetic that I would discover had a defined part, a curl that would not go anywhere and, if the owner cared, was way too large from temple to temple but instead of saying that, i was repeatedly admonished for tucking hair behind my ears. So it came time to try to 2 wigs on. The blonde was human hair, around $3k. The auburn $3-400. Instead of giving me a cap, I was given a thick plush headband to try on the wigs with. Erm, unsanitary... But i tried not to think about that... The owner was very impatient with my not being able to place the wig on correctly but not until it was clear i was not going to be purchasing the blonde. I liked the synthetic and the price was much more palatable. However it was a bit itchy so they said they would sew a silk lining in. Ok. I came to pick up my wig with lining and decided at the last minute to get a hat with hair underneath for $50 or $75. This was the best purchase i ever made there as i wore it out and about which i never did with the other. I was never told how to take care of my wig. I bought a wig brush and pink plastic holder online. I did not know how to make it my own, if and when to shampoo it and with what, if i could style it.... Nothing. To make matters worse, I git home and discovered that my wig cap had been shrunken to fit my cats head. The silk lining i had paid an extra $40 or so for was a double basted piece of fabric covering the whole cap. Too bad it was not the same circumference as the cap. I had to take it out which took 30 seconds. As you can see, the wig quickly turned grotty even though I didn't dare wear it out (no one mentioned cutting lace, plucking, parting, taping or gluing). Basically, once i turned out to not be a human hair sale, i was treated like crap. I was the only customer there each time i went in and, like i said, if you have money to burn and are an older woman, i think this could be a very pleasant experience. It was not for me. PICS: two are in the store trying the wigs on, two are a couple weeks then months later. The hat pic with unintended cleavage is only last summer. Still lookin good! ;)

I have been searching many weeks and places for a specific half wig. I had a picture of the item on my phone that I was interested in purchasing. After my pedicure I was driving down Woodland Avenue anyway so why not give it a try. When I went into the store I was greeted by two of the workers who asked how they could assist me. I was very impressed with this because generally you can walk around for a long time before anyone even addresses you in beauty supply store. Once I showed them the picture of the item one young lady said 'we do not have the specific item but we have that brand and something comparable to the item you're looking for'. She addressed the other young lady and explained where she would be able to locate the item. I was asked to follow her to the back of the store where the wigs were. I was shown several options and offered suggestions of how I could make the styles they had available appear the same as the one in the picture. Since I'm not creative I didn't take the chance but, I really did appreciate all the effort they showed an offering customer service. For that alone I will return to make purchases in the near future.

Thanks to my job, I meet a lot of business clients and my hair appearance always has to look nice and professional so I've been to MANY beauty supply stores in Philly. The minute I walked in to this store it became my favorite one. First, I must say I was very impressed with the deals they have. Unlike a lot of hair stores, they ACTUALLY mean DEAL. I'm a picky girl so I compare a lot when I make any purchase. Based on my good research, this store's prices generally run a lot cheaper than other beauty supply stores or online. Second, I was impressed with the size of the store and the selections of extensions. Products were neatly organized and easy to find. Lastly, the staffs were friendly and they professionally helped me to choose my body wave. The lady showed me several options including Remi and virgin hair and I decided to go with their virgin hair. It's been almost seven months now and I'm still wearing it. If you need hair in Philly, this is the place to go.
