Good experience at the White Eagle while spending the night from Pennsylvania and exploring Mesa…read moreVerde. Held our breath while opening the door to the room, but room 17 was clean and well equipped with 3 double beds for our family of 5. Cable TV worked well, internet took a few minutes to connect but worked fine, and showers were hot. Other patrons were quiet and caused no disturbances. Only issue was the tub drain that did not drain, but after borrowing a plunger and attempting to gain flow, the manager gave me the room key to the room next door so we could continue our shower process. Problem solved! It is family- run establishment, which I like to support- and although dated, it was clean, convenient, and at $147, more affordable than other options in Cortez. Thanks, White Eagle!

**Family-Owned, Clean Pet-Friendly Motel That Checks All the Boxes**…read more The White Eagle Inn was a very nice stop to recharge on our way to New Mexico. Being a family-owned hotel with just three owners in 60 years, it was satisfying to support a local business run by two charismatic and enthusiastic owners that deeply care about their property rather than another hotel chain run by the "Big Six" (IHG, Choice, Wyndham, Hyatt, Marriott, Hilton). We arrived late at night, but the owners were so kind to arrange a late check-in process. Check-in time is from 3-9 so they were generous to accommodate us. The late check in was convenient and socially distant. The owner Kellie even sent ice to our freezer! Nice touch. -Location: The hotel is located right off the highway through Cortez, though a little removed from the city center. -The Hotel: White Eagle has a homey, down-to-earth yet earnest feel. It is a lovely throwback! There are 16 rooms and a nice picnic area with grill. There are 2 areas for the furbabies. Pet friendly but you absolutely need to declare your animals. Rooms are a single level motel format with quaint front desk area. -The Room: We had the triple room 17 which was very comfortable with three double beds. It is located at the end of the motel and has two chairs and a table in front. The room was clean and had retro wood paneling and traditional lamp shades. The bathroom was properly sealed and very clean. There is a table and chairs for eating as well as desk with chair. The beds are a bit springy but nice. It was so nice to have three beds for three travelers. Light fixture above window may need some dusting (mostly negligible but just wanted to point it out). Room blackouts out with ease for easy sleep. The bathroom had tile floors and the shower was very quiet. The water pressure is lower, but this is the desert! Perfectly understandable. However, the hot and cold faucet knobs took more adjusting to get the right temperature (bounced between very hot and very cold fast). They did not skimp, with tons of towels, washcloths, toilet paper, and shampoos/soap (came in individual packages) in the room which was so welcome! A/C ran consistently and the room stayed cool in the Colorado heat. Two important notes are that check out is at 10 AM and that there is no breakfast (though there is tea and coffee). Better get your early bird game on and get the worms! Check out is seamless, just put the key in a drop-off at the lobby door. The owner Mark personally sent us goodbye and gave us some great recommendations for the area. Positives: + Enthusiastic Staff + Three Beds Option + Tons of Towels + Quiet Shower + Only 16 Rooms + Easy Check In and Check Out + Great Value Neutrals: / Location Quips: - No Breakfast (understandable with COVID) - 10 AM Check In (due to COVID) - Knobs on Shower Overall White Eagle Inn was fantastic and we will definitely return when we see Mesa Verde! Excellent Value! 106 for a clean room and three beds is unbeatable.

The kitchen has all you need to cook as I cooked for the three of us on a photo tour. The showers and bathrooms are very well furnished and always clean, Plenty of room on the living area to relax The four of us came back on another photo tour and it very close to restaurants and groceries. We will booking it again in the future and our friends has just asked about it again as they are planning another trip to the area. During our road trip, we trekked up a storm but at some point between the monsoon, the lightening and the thunder as well as all the mountains starting to blend in together we decided the next state would be Utah. We were deciding on hotel vs Airbnb, we needed a one night rest to get up and continue driving. We opted for Airbnb and came across Dick's place which also had good reviews on Airbnb. We decided to take a chance and hoped he responded. Dick not only responded but he checked on us to make sure we had arrived safely as he knew we had a 5 hour drive from our last stop to his place. Upon arrival, the apartment was clean and free of any smells. There was kcups for coffee in the morning, as well as flavored cream. There were the essentials shampoo, towels, wash cloths, soap, knives, plates, cups, pretty must the necessities of any home. There was a binder that had some local tourism info as well as how far some highlights were from his place along with driving directions. There was ample parking and there were security cameras on the exterior of the property thus giving you piece of mind. Access to the keys was straight forward. It was an extremely nice experience. And lots of space, clean sheets, etc. We will definitely stay with Dick again if traveling back to or through the Utah area.

Heart of Telluride is right in the middle of Colorado Ave. walking distance to everything. Shopping? It's all around. Food? Everything is right there. Grocery? liquor? Right here. Gondola and ski lifts? Quick 2 block walk. If you ski, they also provide lockers right at the base of the mountain. And if you like to partake in the 420 action, they have it. This place is three stories with a condo at the bottom that can be separate or can be rented along with the top 2 floors if you have a lot of folks. We rented the entire place so that means 2 kitchens, 2 washer dryers, 2 living areas, etc. The downtsfairs condo itself is gorgeous and would be awesome if you just have 2 people. King bed, steam shower, living area, fully appointed kitchen. Come up the stairs to the second floor where you find a huge master bedroom with king bed, huge master bath with steam shower and a stand alone tub. There is a washer dryer on this floor. Another bedroom has king bed, full bath, and entrance to the back itself in case you want to sneak in late. Another bedroom also without a bathroom inside but there's one across the hall. Did I mention that bathrooms have robes and slippers? And that the floors are heated? And that the bedrooms have fireplaces? It's truueeee! Then we have the top floor with an awesome kitchen with top of the line appliances and everything you need. And a nice sized living/ dining area along with a bar too. The patio outside is a superstar! Lots of furniture. Hot tub!! Grill!! Views or the mountain and town. The guy that met us and showed us the House was a wealth of info. And we were greeted with a gift basket in the upstairs and downstairs kitchens with wine, bread, a box full of chocolate treats, cheese, coffee, etc. Basically, you feel like the queen (or king) of the mountain if you stay at Heart of Telluride. This is the only way to do it!!

At arrival the unit had a bad propane leak and no one answered the contact number or email for hours. There was no main propane shut off at the cabin. We located the leak as internal at the stove. We turned the gas off there and aired out the cabin until it was safe to sleep in which was a little past midnight. The kitchen door didn't latch and couldn't be locked. We also had an issue with mice in the kitchen. Forget about showering, there was absolutely no water pressure, and only one bathroom had enough pressure to flush solid waste. We ran out of toilet paper since only 1 roll was provided for 16 people. The sinks also drained the grey water right outside the wall to the dirt and not to a septic system. The building wasn't built using commonly safe building practices. One room smelled liked a hamster family had died in or under the room. The tap water was trucked in and given the whole experience we didn't dare drink the water from the tap. One person braved it and ended up with lots of tummy troubles. If you want camping, then camp. Avoid this place unless you want a real shanty barn experience.

Plenty of fresh air. We also glad that we could bring our two huskies along, for an additional charge. They loved the cooler temperatures at night, in July. The cabin was good enough for 5 adults. The loft area was a lot shorter than i thought it would've been. It's about 3 ft high, so we had to crawl around up here. which was fine, the area would be great for kids. There was an AC, which seems like it needs to replaced, it just blows out warm air. But that didn't matter, because during the warm hours, we were outside in the shade. Even in July you just need to open the windows at night to cool the entire cabin down. The place was clean, but not to our standard of clean for a chain. We just clean a bit more, to our liking. The pots and pans are useable, they also need to be replaced, as well. They did have everything we needed. The hosts did have a booklet of all the house rules. As well as information on the two towns near by. This was my first "house rental" booking and the experience was great! communication with the host was clear and concise. I figured since the host lived in the area we would be checked on, we weren't. And that was great! that put me at ease. I can't wait to book this same cabin or one of the others soon.
