Terrible experience! I'd just like to start by saying that I've never seen a chiropractor before and I've been in a lot of pain but, I'm not really sure of the exact source of said pain. As we all know, some things could trigger other things and whatever you thought was the problem could be caused by something else. I was hoping to see a professional and have a conversation/ consultation since again, it's my first time. I was informed when making my appointment that I needed to arrive about 10 mins early. Which makes sense...provide information and get into the system. My appt was at 3pm. I arrived at 2:20pm. Sat in my car until 2:40pm. Went up to the door which was locked and saw that the office is at lunch until 2:45pm. Fine. So, I wait. 2:45pm comes and goes. Another customer that pulled in right after me, comes up at about 2:55pm and says shouldn't they've been back at 2:45pm. I said I believe so. He gets frustrated (understandably so) and leaves. It is a bit hot out, mind you but, I'm still not too upset. Another gentleman walks up and we wait. Someone from next door comes up, says nothing, unlocks the door and says you can go in. I go to the front desk, where the is no one and it smells pretty bad, like food (which is also understandable however, off putting) The young lady looks at me and the other patron and says, "oh, the lights are off...where are they"? So, myself and the other gentleman begin to walk back outside. We get back outside and the young lady says "oh! Dr. Nick" I believe that was his name. So we are just kind of standing there, not really knowing how to proceed. He says I don't know where my assistant is and then asks me if I have an appointment, as I walk back up to the counter. I say yes. He asks if it's my first time. To which I say yes. He then says oh, well sit down because I have to get more information from you. This is exactly why I was there quite sometime before my appt and he wasn't. He then looks past me and asks the other gentleman if he is also a new customer, to which he says yes. The Dr. then proceeds to ask him questions about why he's there "any accidents, falls, work injuries "? At this point I'm getting a little irritated. I'm sure he notices and then looks at me and goes, well you too. We both say no at the same time. He looks to me and says why are you here? What's wrong? Where is your pain? Rapid firing questions. I look at him and say, I have a lot going on. I've never been to a chiropractor before, I thought we'd be able to talk in private. He says is it your spine? I only do spine. I only do spine. I stood up and said my name and my appointment time and asked him to cancel it. By 3:06pm. I was out the door. This whole exchange was extremely unprofessional. I wasn't ordering a turkey sandwich. We were talking about my human body. It was not my fault that they were late and that his assistant vanished. This was a very off putting experience. They were so unapologetic, to add insult to injury. A part of the reason I have never been to the chiropractor was because I was fearful so, I was already a little anxious but, I'm in so much pain, I felt like had no choice but to try and go. I really thought that my fears would be eased and I would be well accommodated. I was really hoping to be treated better than this. Very, very unprofessional! Is this a traditional Dr. office? No. However, I thought confidentiality would still be implemented. I would NEVER recommend such a place to anyone. Funny enough, I have a message booked at the neighboring Massage Envy tomorrow morning which apparently they also own. I called to cancel that because I just don't feel comfortable spending money at a place where me nor my hard earned money are not welcomed or valued at all. The girl who answered the phone there was extremely sweet and assured me that I'd have a better experience. I sure hope so. To The Joint Manhattan Beach, CA: do better. read more
