As they say on their website "While the NIH takes care of the child's medical needs, The Inn tends to the child's heart, soul and spirit." When you enter the building it looks like you have entered an upscale ski lodge. There is a reception desk to the left, but straight ahead is a sitting area with plush couches and a fireplace. As part of a service organization that provides Sunday dinners 3 times a year, I have only been in the public areas. They have recently added new kitchens, done other renovations, and built a new outdoor play area. Each family has their own private room. There are various public rooms such as a computer area, a quiet room, and dining areas, etc. Our group prepares a meal in a double kitchen equipped with 4 stoves, microwaves, sinks, small appliances, and kitchen equipment. There is a pantry with paper products and non-perishable items. Each family has a personal refrigerator for their own use and there is a common refrigerator for anyone to take advantage of. Volunteer groups can leave leftovers in the common refrigerators for residents to use. Behind the kitchen area we work in is a laundry room with a number of washers and dryers. Staff and volunteers provide a large number of diversions and activities for the families. One night there was a high school choral group; another time someone was organizing board games; and another night an outgoing man was setting up a bocce ball set for after dinner entertainment. Each child apparently has a mail box where small "treats" are provided. There are many ways to contribute to this amazing organization with donations of time, of money, or in kind. When I am at the Inn I feel sad for the children and their families, but I am thankful for them that they have the Inn and that they are getting treatment at such a remarkable, caring facility as the National Institutes of Health.

We were so grateful for all the help they offered us while we were there on our first visit. My girls love coming "home" to the children's inn. There is so much to do there--the staff always has movies available for kids and lots of fun activities planned. They even have a sweet therapy dog for the kids to love. . There is nothing you need to bring when you stay here besides your pillows and clothes. My girls always ask when we get to go back to see the amazing doctors there and stay at the Childrens inn. So blessed to have had this experience.

There are quite literally not enough words to describe how much we love and appreciate every aspect…read moreof this center. When you are looking for a center, if the administrative staff is beyond communicative, if teachers love your child as they love their own, and if the energy that seeps forth boasts of creativity and engagement at all times, you know you've found the perfect place, and that place is Rock Spring Children's Center. It's hard enough knowing that you have to leave your child over the course of a day, but to know that you have the best care possible for your child during the day helps alleviate so much of that stress. The Center does not just say they love children, what they want to do to improve or how the work aligns with the mission, but they show EACH of these things, with intention, every single day. And while I'm talking about the overall feel and experience of the center, there are so many additions that really take it to the next level. The offerings of ballet, karate, an amazing plyometrics program, and music, all of it offered from phenomenal external entities as a formal class that help keep your weekends, a little more open. And for more ease, if you struggle to pack lunch every day, a catered lunch option is available. There is differentiated instruction that allows for all students to feel safe and seen. And did I mention the engagement and love of teachers, and administration? The list goes on. TLDR: There will never be a center as phenomenal as Rock Spring Children's Center!

I wish the shoes were in one spot and organized by size, but I recognize they're using the space they have. The clothes are very well organized and there was someone reorganizing and adding new items while I was there. I was in the mood to go thrifting recently and asked a few of my friends what areas would be good…read moreto get some steals. I was told this area would fit the bill. So after looking around and finding a spot, I headed out. Made my way here and the area was still reeling from the storm that rolled through. The parking lot was a mess and even though they had just opened, they were jammed. I found one of the remaining parking spots near the store and made my way inside. I was expecting a rather expansive area on the inside only to find out that it is much smaller. Not usually a problem, but when it came to browsing, it made for a much more bothersome experience. I would spot an item, want to take a look at it and then promptly be pushed out of the way with another customer with a cart. I was beginning to get frustrated when I decided that I would give it another go. I came here to find an item to put my remotes in and kept going through the housewares section. I had in mind what I wanted, couldn't quite find it. When I did, you could tell it was cheaply made with the Goodwill mark up. I was about to give up when I spotted the endcaps filled with random items. I saw one particular piece and decided this would fit the bill until something else might come along. I quickly went through the clothing but when it comes to clothing for men, this place is severely lacking. Compared to the women's section, it is about quarter the size. Checking out was fast. I paid for my purchase and was back outside.

I am so pleased to have met and know some of the amazing people that work at this organization…read more Bethesda Cares mission is to prevent, end, and ease homelessness. When searching for a non profit in the area to try and help support- I thought to the most basic needs of a human's life. Shelter, Water, Food. Nobody should be without a home. And Bethesda Cares feels the same way. Not only do they offer lunches throughout the week, they provide shower facilities, daytime shelter, and mail services. To prevent those from becoming homeless, they work with people who are in apartments but are in danger of having their utilities shut off, or people who are possibly facing eviction. They are truly angels - and contrary to the name- Bethesda Cares serves those through the county. There are more than 800 chronically homeless citizens. Some with mental and physical health issues. As a community of millions, we should be able to ban together to help Bethesda Cares in it's mission and end homelessness in the region. I will continue to help them whenever I can, and I hope that these amazing people are blessed in each and every part of their lives.

Almost Perfect - Liljenquist & Beckstead in Montgomery Mall…read more After 3+ years on Rolex waitlists at Liljenquist & Beckstead. On a random Sunday I decided to visit Liljenquist & Beckstead in Westfield Montgomery Mall with real hope. My mom has been buying jewelry from them for years and recommended the store to me back in 2020, so I knew the service would be excellent. I left impressed by the team and even more motivated to keep working toward my dream watch. I've been grinding for over 12 years. My partners and I recently launched our own business, and it has exceeded every expectation. This success has me ready to invest in a meaningful piece the Rolex GMT-Master II "Bruce Wayne" something I can wear every day as a reminder of the grind and eventually pass down to my kids as a family heirloom. Jeff Kaufmann was fantastic. He was super nice, took his time with zero pressure, and thoroughly explained every detail of the Bruce Wayne, including exactly how to set and use the three time zones on the GMT function. His patience and knowledge made me feel like a valued client rather than just another name on the list. The whole team at the Montgomery Mall location was professional and genuinely passionate about watches. This visit alone earns a strong 4 stars. I'm holding the 5th star in reserve for the day I get that lucky call when my Bruce Wayne becomes available. If you're a serious collector who's been waiting, I highly recommend stopping in and asking for Jeff you'll be in good hands, just like my mom has been for years. Thank you Jeff Kaufmann and the entire Liljenquist & Beckstead team. You've earned a loyal future customer (and probably my kids' future visits too). Looking forward to coming back to complete the story.
