Surprised this building has no reviews yet?
after moving down to philly for a new job, i literally agonized over where to stay. unlike nyc where finding an apartment is next to looking for gold on a muddy mountain slope, philly just had too many dizzying options. but driving thru the gates of the isle, couldnt help agree with a friend who commented that this place felt very different and seemed more like a resort than apartment building!
i really liked the layout of my unit, where i had a great view of the Schuylkill river. and despite on paper seeming kinda small, felt much roomier thanks to the huge windows and amazing light in the early afternoon. also, my unit had no shortage of storage. more than enough little cabinets to store nearly everything i owned.
the amentities / lounge area was very comfortable, and glad that the gym wasnt an afterthought in some basement. and while i was a little disappointed i was a bit too far from the kelly drive running / bike paths, the trails that were immediately outside the building's door are still quite nice. also, the bridge to main st is pretty baller. cant think of any other building in philly that has something similar. and the deck is fantastic. relaxing with a nice beer with the river rushing below, watching the sun set on a long ass day was worth the amentity fee alone.
also, they offered the the least expensive parking of the buildings i toured. some might be concerned about the past flooding in the area. i didnt experience any problems, tho admittedly, i did check the flooding reports and made sure my car was in the upper 100yr flood zone!
but above all else, big shout out goes to the leasing and building management team: ashlee, laylaa, laurel, rafael, bruce, gina, kevin, mike, and evan. they were always welcoming and very in tune to my needs as a tenant. no matter my issue, they went above and beyond to help out the situation. seriously, they set a super high bar.
with that said, like most new construction buildings, there were alot of growing pains. the walls are not nearly as thick as the pre-war apartments i had in new york. you can hear people's conversations pretty easily. so if you're light sleeper, tread carefully. also, outside ambient noise can be heard again rather easily, like the traffic on i-76 where things can get noisy after certain hours when trucks are careening down the highway, bumping along in the nite.
and given i was the first tenant in my unit, i did have a more than a few issues: my dryer not working (even tho management was happy to let me use an empty apartment's dryer while i waited to get a new one), the electric stove vent didnt seem to vent properly. water pressure on the upper floors was kinda lacking, so goodbye massage setting. also, there were at least two building wide brown outs. and every now and then someone had either broken thru the parking gate or it would malfunction and be stuck in the up position. nevermind, the fire alarm would accidently go off without any warning. and do be careful when walking across the bridge during the rain or snow. i've been lucky, but sometimes, parts of it just look dangerously slippery. and the utility billing did have a few hiccups that thankfully, i was able catch. i consider myself a pretty patient dude but after a while, being a guinea pig for a new building does get to be a bit much and it was time to go.
but regardless of these problems, and maybe its that hazy tint of cramped nyc apartments of the past, this building was quite nice to live in: an incredible view of either the river or canal, one philly's most gorgeous settings, and a fantastic management team who aptly navigated thru all these problems with us as tenants, were a huge part of an overall nice stay. read more
