They may seem like the same, but they're actually quite different. While both breeds descend from the Old English Bulldog, the American Pit Bull Terrier is a cross of the Bulldog with the Terrier. They crossed these two breeds to create a more muscular and agile dog that could perform better in bull-bating and ratting. The Pit Bull is recognized as part of the Terrier family while the American Bulldog is part of the Molosser dog family. The temperament of the American Bulldog resembles that of an English bulldog. They are a gentle and affectionate dog that gets along well with children and can be regarded as a large lapdog. They can prove to be friendly dogs and very family-oriented, especially if they are trained at a young age. As I said he's 12, with arthritis and starting to lose his hearing and vision. He limps around, at this point the beloved Lab would maul him to death. He's too old and arthritic to hurt a bird at this stage of his life. Great stereotyping going on. Money wasn't an issue nor my credit, I'm a physician assistant and make quite a nice livelihood but I'd rather live in a hole in the wall than automatically rejects me on a dog they never met. One of the biggest issues I experienced was that my car was vandalized even though I was paying for parking inside the property. You would expect a paid parking area to provide at least some level of security, but that wasn't my experience. The condition of the building is also disappointing. The hallways are frequently dirty and have an unpleasant smell, making the property feel poorly maintained despite the high rent. Speaking of rent, be aware that the amount you actually pay ends up being higher than the advertised price. Between the additional fees and other charges, the monthly cost is significantly more than what you're initially led to believe. The move-out process was equally frustrating. Management told us it was okay to hang pictures and other items on the walls, but when we moved out, they kept most of our security deposit without providing a clear or reasonable explanation. It felt unfair and inconsistent with what we had been told during our tenancy. Overall, between the lack of security, poor maintenance, hidden costs, and disappointing handling of the security deposit, my experience was far from satisfactory. I would encourage anyone considering this property to read reviews carefully and ask detailed questions before signing a lease. Take your money elsewhere, you can find a better deal and don't be deceived by their "move-in" specials.

I highly recommend NOT living here under ANY circumstances. The living conditions of this property are below standard and borderline dangerous. There is constant loud noise in the building. Whether it be weekend parties, or constant banging, or your neighbor vacuuming with their door open while blasting music after quiet hours, you will never be able to truly rest here. I still can't sleep during the rare time it is quiet because I'm anticipating what will happen once I close my eyes, it's unpredictable and I truly feel unsafe. The hallways constantly reek of marijuana and cigarette stench. I recommend you ask to go in other hallways besides the one they tour you in, check out the trash chutes while you're at it for a lovely added bonus of stinky and disgusting odors because people leave things to sit there and it's never cleaned. Also, ask to see the loading dock where the fly infestation is located as you move in! 75% of the gym is broken so if you expect to utilize that amenity I would recommend going in on your tour and taking a closer look, try out a treadmill see if it even turns on. And there's no actual fitness classes so that's false advertising, I've tried to attend 2 and neither of them happened. While you tour the property, ask to go in to the dog run. There you'll find excessive amounts of dog waste, it's almost impossible to not step in it as the ground is covered in it. Also if you take a walk around the property outside you'll find the same issue, plus trash everywhere too. While you're at it, look around at the cars parked illegally and maybe notice the cars parked in handicap spots with no placard or handicap plate. This place is not upholding standards of living by any means, but allowing people to take handicap spots without placards is simply illegal and has left me without accessible parking many times. I was constantly messaging and emailing management about how JUST the noise was effecting my mental health and physical health enough to want out, but their solution was to ignore me until they couldn't anymore. After I took more serious action, they offered to switch units when the same issues exist in every inch of this property. That was the only thing they ever offered me, management here might as well not exist. They don't hold people to the standards of their lease, and also do not uphold their end of the lease. So I strongly recommend that you think twice before moving here, it is a shame that I have to continue to live here when I'm truly mentally drained and physically ill from this living environment. It almost feels like a cruel joke or living nightmare.

It's close to shopping, a short drive to center city and about ten minutes from Forbidden Drive where I fell in love with the trails and nature there. Linda, the property manager, is the best. She made the moving in and moving out process easy and straight-forward and was always helpful whenever there was a minor maintenance issue. The pool, bar, and gym across the street were great and my husband and I used them often. The complex and grounds are well-maintained and clean. It was a wonderful experience living at this complex. Rent is a little high compared to other apartments in the area but I believe it was well worth it for worry-free, convenient living. I highly recommend! A few notes: you will need a snow shovel in the winter to shovel out your car after the parking lot is plowed. Don't wait until there is 2 feet of snow on the ground to purchase one like I did! You will not be able to find one within walking distance and your car will be inaccessible. Also, "emergency maintenance" crew members during off hours (I believe this is run by another company) are not the best. A little rude and rushed. If your maintenance issue can wait until regular business hours, you will get better service. Good luck!

There are no cameras or keys to to enter the building. They require a key to open the door to the laundry room but once you're down there you can actually walk through the hallways and go up into other apartment buildings without a needing a key . It's a safety issue . There are no cameras! I am terrified to go down there by myself , not only that .. why are there 2 washers/ dryers for so many different buildings just unsecurely connected ? .. so this is what happened... I've had several packages from carriers amazon, usps, and UPS be delivered only for them not to be there when I got home. As many of you know Amazon takes pictures when they deliver packages and I have pictures of them being at the mailboxes but they are GONE when i get there . I am so frustrated at the lack of security here , i have Lost so much money because of this issue, I've never had something like this happen before . Have fun where you live ? More like Get robbed where you live ALSO THIS PLACE IS INFESTED WITH GNATS!!! I've defogged my apartment 3 times already, it's disgusting. I only lived there for a short time due to work, no other reason. I actually really enjoyed living here. I had a one bedroom and it was VERY spacious! The cost for what you get vs. what other apartment complexes in the area are charging, it's incomparable! Very low cost, even compared to living in the suburbs! Depending on if the unit you get comes with a parking spot, you can choose to pay for their gated parking. I opted for the parking which, again, I thought the cost was reasonable for the area. While the building is old, they are constantly updating their appliances, AC units, bathrooms, etc. My only complaint was the mail situation. All USPS mail is delivered via small lockers that you open with a key, but almost all packages were just placed in the lobby, in front of the lockers. I have never had packages stolen, but I have heard of it happening. The property manager was doing his due diligence to prevent this from happening and, again, I never had any packages or mail stolen. Hence the five stars. Overall, it's a safe area, the apartment is well-maintained, and maintenance is prompt and does a good job.

My bad experience was attributed to the fact that I lived in one of the two basement apartments and due to that, I ended up being too close for comfort to the property manager's 'office.' The property manager is a very difficult person to be around. She is rude, crass, vulgar you name it. She is extremely unhappy; I never saw her smile once. She takes her comments to the extreme and she is unpredictable. One day she'll leave you alone, the next day she'll be threatening to evict you. Because of her behavior I worried about my safety, and I wasn't going to stick around to find out what she would do. I tried really hard to understand why she is so angry but ultimately I think she has a stressful job and takes it out on people verbally. I got to know a few residents who do not live in the basement but had an unpleasant opinion of her. So if you live on level A-D you will interact with her, but in a limited capacity. I don't take the things she did and said personally; I hope she seeks help to handle her anger and improves her communication skills. If you live here, do not live in the basement: 1) You will be in constant contact with Jenn the property manager 2) You will hear people walking, talking, yelling, parking...you name it because your windows are facing 36th St. You will hear everything that's going on outside. You will hear every footstep and toilet flush of the tenant above you. 3) No cell service. I had Verizon and couldn't make or receive calls because I had no signal. I had to switch to AT&T and buy a signal booster. One of the maintenance guys had Boost Mobile and couldn't use his phone when be was in the basement either. 4) No AC Like any other apartment you will have to deal with bugs. Just handle it yourself, I don't think the landlord should have to respond to every bug complaint after the initial move in extermination. The Living area is the largest of all the apartments in the building. Mr. Berger is a really good landlord, it pains me to have to write a negative review because if it was just about him, I would say he is a 5/5 star landlord. He responds within 24 hours. Handles all issues quickly and despite my issues with the property manager, he has been extremely helpful, professional, and accommodating. I've lived in 2 other places in Philly and by far, he has been the best landlord. All utilies are covered except electric. Indego bike share is 50 feet away, the Drexel Shuttle stops at 37th & Spring Garden Street. The pricing is ~$800-925 that I know of for 1 bd. If you are a Drexel student the location is ideal, I wasn't. If you have a pet you don't have to pay pet rent or pet deposit...this is actually a bad thing. Residents can have any breed including pitbulls and mastiffs. As a dog owner, it saves you money up front but the money is a wash of you have to take your dog to the vet for emergency surgery and get stitches on your hand if one of those dogs gets loose and attacks you and your dog. I would recommend this apartment to Drexel Students who need annual living only. I highly recommend you DON'T live in a basement apartments. I highly recommend Berger Properties and Mr Berger the landlord (He has 3 others in the city).

Many of the other tenants are loud and dirty. The bathroom floor is full of cracks. This is a very old and disgusting apartment. Roaches and flies came out within days of my move-in, even though I am very clean. The location of the apartment is not good, the buses are never on time and you have to walk quite a distance to get to good transit. The neighborhood is sketchy and dirty. Also, people leave the back gate open so even though the apartment is "locked" it is very easy for people to enter the building.

Goldtex Gets A Bad Wrap So, I have been here about 6 months…read morenow and figured it is time to leave a review. Especially because people are more prone to go on and vent rather than say what is going right. I moved up here from Florida in December, just after Greystar took over. I love the history of an older building and understand that comes with its drawbacks. Yes, the elevators were having some issues when we first moved in but it looks like those have been resolved. Haven't had a downed elevator in over a month now. The pool and hot tub are closed for refurbishment (but honestly...it has been winter...who wants to swim during winter. Maybe the hot tub would have been nice but it's not the end of the world.) Even with that down, the new management team took the time to make the rooftop a nice place to hang out. Maintenance sometimes takes a bit but when I went in and actually talked with the staff, they explain that they were down to one maintenance person for a bit and (again older building) they were a bit behind. They sent out an email explaining the situation with the HVAC and have also been sending updates...in addition to providing portable AC units for those of us who needed them. Has it been perfect, no. But they have been communicative, have taken short term action to try to overcome the situation they probably found themselves in when they were hired to manage the building, and have kept us up to date on the actions they are taking towards a permanent fix. The concierge staff is amazing. Rob and Phil are always friendly and welcoming. They knew my name AND my dog's name within a few weeks of moving in. The management team has held 2 or 3 events every month since I got here that has made it really easy to meet some of my new neighbors. Especially nice when coming in to a new city. Regardless, I love my apartment and am glad that it is my first home in Philadelphia and think it is pretty obvious that a company that JUST came on 6 months ago is doing a great job handling an older building and all the charm that naturally comes with that.

Heating/AC is controlled by the building and they only switch over once for spring/summer so it was very hot during the unseasonably warm days!! Four regular and two freight elevators but multiple are often broken so plan accordingly and leave a little early in case of long elevator wait times! 3. Not much noise from neighbors but certain areas are louder, ie. I always hear my neighbors' TV from my bathroom. Figured this out when I heard "THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELLS YOU" after a late night shower and got very scared lol.
