I went to a Folk Music event on Friday evening 24-4-15 headlined as the Anti Capitalist show. I had travelled some distance and asked whether there were sandwiches, since there were non available, non on sale I asked for anything else. Crisps were offered but since they had "run out of these" a crumpled plastic bag of onion rings" was offered. Since I was driving I was drinking soft drinks and asked for a pint of tap water with cordial squash. The pleasant young barman obviously trying his best then asked for £2.60. I then asked to see the manager, and politely complained as I felt about the excessive prices.
I then received a tirade of self justification about the Management Committee (email address is not obvious on the site nor are the personnel) setting the prices, a suggestion that I should go and own my own pub where I could set my own prices, with a final instruction to change my objectionable attitude or be thrown out. The Bar manager was most offensive and impolite in his manner.
The Venue itself appears OK, clean and comfortable with the young bar staff helpful and polite. I can say little more about the evening since it seems despite the title of the show I felt definitely unwelcome and in the wrong place. I cannot recommend this venue due to the bar prices and the dismissive, arrogant manner of dealing with "feedback" complaints. The good news was the organisers willingly returned my entry fee. So thanks to them. read more
