We rented a small trailer at this campground. The floor felt nasty on my feet and turned the bottom of my feet black. Our bed sheets were filthy, looked like some one sprayed something all over the bottom half of the sheets. My eyes were itching and burning and it turns out they've never changed the air filter. The couch was covered with stains. Dirty utensils were in the drawer. They did send some one to change the filter and sheets. When we contacted the main office in Florida they apologized and said they could only give us a 10% discount on the next time we stayed. They should have given us at least half of our money back!!!

Been calling it home since November! Beautiful place close to what we need and want. Has a laundry room also the bathhouse has 3 showers always clean and taken care of. The office has arcade games 2 pools tables a little store with your basics the staff is incredible very nice people. The people that come here are also a pleasure we love when we get new "neighbors" A little park for the kids to play at We completely love it here and highly recommend it!

Lanier's is a nice, small, family campground. The reservation desk, which is inside the gate, was a little difficult to find since there is minimal signage. It would be nice to see signs pointing to the different locations. The campground seems to be tightly packed with permanent residents and also spread out over a lot of land. The bath house was key entry and very clean every time I went up there. However, there was no water pressure. We stayed on site 10A, waterfront electric and water. When we originally called we were offered an interior water and electric site and I'm glad I didn't take that. We looked at the site (#43) when we were there. It had a drainage ditch that ran through it, there was trash where it led into the marsh. There was also a porta-john close by. The sites seemed to be rounded instead of flat. All the sites were grass and not dirt or gravel which we liked. Lots are deep but narrow. We had enough space for our high wall camper. The guy next to us had a tent. Next to them was a site with 3 tents on it. When they left a 35' camper moved in it's spot. So there is plenty of room to back in a large vehicle. Our only problem with our site was the fire pit was bolted in near the electric pole of the site next to us. It made it difficult to have privacy for a campfire, not to mention the campfires are uncomfortably close to the campers. The people on the other side even mentioned that they were trying to keep their fire small so it didn't catch my camper on fire. That was a disappointment. The rules are not enforced. Kids of the permanent tenants were all over the place on golf carts. Most were not driving age. Dogs of permanent residents were out without leashes often. One near us had three little dogs, one of which yapped for a nice long time while we were trying to sleep at 10. With that being said, quiet time is 11p - 7a, so they were within their noisy time. The dumpsters were easy to find. The dump station was a little harder to locate but it was easy to maneuver. Again, signs pointing to other areas would have helped. There is a pier nearby in the campground. The beach (Surf City) was literally 5 minutes away. The pool was nice and clean with a lot of chairs. There is a Walmart Supermarket, Food Lion, Dunkin Donuts, Hardee's and lots of local spots nearby. We found a pizzeria named JTs that was great.

Unhealthy sewer opened up and maintenance unhooked our fresh water hose placing it by this pile of dung

The person at the check-in on Friday was extremely rude more than once. Not just rude, extremely rude and uncaring and unfriendly.

It seems that the owners of this place has done what North Carolina has become so famous for. It's called the nickel and dime shuffle. Plan on being charged a service fee when you get here. 10.00 processing fee for most transactions you make. You would think that with all the extra fees they charge your site wouldn't flood, one heavy rain and you'er are in a Sneads Ferry lake. On to the three stars. The site isn't secured. people drive through the camp ground all night long. the Boat ramp is suppose to be private but it's not. Charter boat captains use and abuse the boat ramp at an astonishing rate. On Holidays locals use the( AKA Private) boat ramp which means they come through the camp ground. The Air B&B is another practice some were uncomfortable with. Temporary people passing in an out of the area on a nightly bases is unsettling. I under stand this is a camp ground a transient place, but its not secure and anyone can come in an out of the area at any time of the night.

Amanda was so incredibly sweet every time we talked to her. They have light but sturdy picnic tables at each lot that you can easily move around as needed and the same with the fire/grill rings. We cooked steaks on the grill ring and they turned out great. We loved meeting people inside the dog-park as well. Lots of really cool dogs get in there and run and play. We'll definitely be back.

We checked in and asked the lady in the office if we could pull head in (in our motorhome) so that we could look at the waterfront instead of the trashy trailers that dominate this park. She said that "usually people back in, but it would be fine for use to pull in". We pulled in and began setting up. About halfway through our setup, a guy showed up at our Motorhome and began pounding on the side of it! I don't mean knocking, I mean POUNDING as if he were trying to knock a hole in the side of it. Me and my wife were on the other side of our Motorhome setting up. My wife was closest to the front of the MH and she ran around the front to see what the problem was. A guy around 65-70 years old threw our check (they don't take credit cards, by the way) at her and said "get out"! He turned and walked away. I went toward the office and he met me about halfway, and I asked what the problem was. He began cursing at me and said that I had violated the rules by pulling in instead of backing in. I tried to explain that his wife had told me that it was OK to pull in. He called me a liar and squared off and threatened to whip my a$$. I tried to calm him down, but he replied that if I didn't get my car and rig out of there, that he would "kill me"! I am sure he was under the influence of something like crack. Crazy wild eyed lunatic. I defused the situation by pulling out my phone and started videoing. At that point, he turned his back and walked away. We packed up and left ASAP. There are many places, much nicer places, you can stay in this area, that you won't have your life threatened. Again, avoid at all cost!!! Ironically, when I pulled in forward, my front axle sunk about 8" at the far end of the site. Had I backed in, my 23,000 lb rear would have sunk to the axle and we'd have had to be towed out! Another bit of irony, the attached photo is from their website. It shows a tan Motorhome parked front in, in the very site we were assigned!!!

Similar to other kayak tours I've done, we were fitted with PFDs and given a basic tutorial on how to paddle/ maneuver in the kayaks. The owner/guide Don was very knowledgable and did a great job making sure that the group moved together and that we were safe at all times. After kayaking around the river we stopped off for a picnic dinner on Shark Tooth Island. It was fun hunting for fossilized shark teeth and other shells. My two criticisms of the tour were: 1) There wasn't much to see. We kayaked a little way down the river and then turned down a grassy side channel. Besides a couple of herons in trees and some alligator tracks there was not much scenery and it became boring after a little while. 2) The food options for dinner were a little underwhelming. They had some store bought sandwich thins/wraps and deli cold cuts for dinner. Without the Groupon the price of the 3 hour tour is $150/per person. I didn't feel that this tour was much of an "adventure" and the food definitely left something to be desired.
