I don't know if this Apartment complex is currently on here, but TJ if it is correct me and point…read moreme in the right direction!!! I was a tenant for the last 2 years and let me tell you!!!!! This place is AMAZING. It has so many incredible features you would not believe it........... I lived in the "queens spot" upstairs center apt. overlooking the most incredible ocean view of my lifetime. I would have never left if it hadn't have been for my grandmother needing my immediate care and housing....... turns out I regret even buying a house now and wish I were still there. Nonetheless.... Centrally located only 2 blocks from the most amazing rec. trail, downtown, cannary row, shopping, restaurants, aquarium...... clean, great management/maintenance...always friendly and on top of everything. NO COMPLAINTS EVER. I would go back if I could get out of buying this house!!!!!! I would recommend this apt complex to my best of friends and family and my time there will be sincerely remembered as one of the best of my life. (did I mention ocean views ?!) wow! (and great neighbors)

Some apartments have views of the ocean and fireplaces. For the price it really can't be beat. The carport and storage is a huge plus as well since we can store things in their that would normally clog up a closet in our apartment. As for Cali B. (below) Welcome to the California coastline. Things get moldy and if you don't know that you soon will. You live a block from the flipping ocean. Get off your high horse, you sound stuck up. And from the looks of it you use yelp only to write bad reviews. I hate those Yelpers! I'm glad you moved out. boom. The apartments are clean, quaint, quiet and the people here are cool as well. I love BBQ'ing on my deck. Never heard a dog bark once. The landlords are extremely attentive and take care of requests ASAP, like a text.... then knock knock. Scary fast. With Happy Girl Kitchen next door how can you go wrong!

When my roommate and I first went to the office, we were in shock that there were no weight restrictions and the pet deposit price is very reasonable. Kyle and Veronica are wonderful - very responsive, and genuinely care about the well-being of their tenants. Beware!!! I moved…read moreinto this apartment complex in August 2024 with high hopes after a promising tour. Unfortunately, that optimism was short-lived. This place has been nothing but a constant source of frustration, and I feel compelled to warn others before they make the same mistake. Let's start with the hidden fees. After paying over $100 in non-refundable application fees, we signed our lease only to discover that we'd also be paying for pest control, sewer, trash, and water--none of which were clearly disclosed upfront. These "additional charges" have averaged $250 a month on top of rent. Last month alone, we were charged $190 just for water--and there are only two people living in our unit. We are extremely conscientious about usage, and we don't even drink the water or use it for ice or coffee because we've seen brown sediment in it multiple times. I've reached out to both the property manager and leasing agent asking how the water and sewer are measured--crickets. No response, which is unfortunately all too common. It takes over a week for them to respond and address any of my concerns, if at all. Meanwhile, the grounds are infested with spiders, slugs, ants, and we had multiple COCKROACH encounters when we first moved in!!! So what are we paying for in "pest control"? That's a mystery. Perhaps the excessive amount of visible rat traps. We're even charged a $6 monthly fee just to compile the bill for these "services." Maintenance has been a disaster. When we first moved in, the thermostat was set to Celsius. Maintenance told us it couldn't be changed--Google proved otherwise. During a so-called "annual inspection," a maintenance tech left a solo cup full of master keys on our doorstep while he worked inside. Anyone walking by could've grabbed access to every unit in the complex. Completely unacceptable. A few months ago, a water main broke during a rainstorm. I called emergency maintenance--they showed up, shrugged, and said they'd "call a plumber tomorrow." Rain was pouring and flooding was imminent. I ended up calling 911 and the fire department had to come out to shut off the water and prevent further damage. Even they were shocked it hadn't already been handled. There's more. A neighbor's door lock malfunctioned. Maintenance replaced it with a used door, in the middle of winter, and didn't even bother to install weather stripping--leaving a 1-inch gap under the door for cold air and pests to flow freely. That was over a month ago, and it's still not fixed. When we moved in, the leasing office was open Monday through Saturday. Now it's only open four days a week. Security patrols that used to come by twice nightly (after a string of car break-ins) were silently discontinued about four months ago--with no notice to residents. The walls are paper thin--we hear everything our neighbors do, and when they use the stairs, it feels like they're stomping through our living room. The windows are ancient single-pane originals from what I can only guess is the 1960s. They sweat constantly, and we've discovered black mold on our clothes, pillows, and window frames. Cold drafts leak in all winter long, and the moisture issues are beyond unacceptable. We inquired with the leasing office in January if there were an option to replace the windows. The informed us that it wouldn't be possible until at least April...and here we are at the end of April with no resolution. Our lease runs until September, and we are counting down the days until we can move. I wouldn't recommend this complex to anyone. It's overpriced, poorly managed, and increasingly unsafe and unsanitary. Do yourself a favor--look elsewhere.

Yea the homes are a little old, but what you get for the rental price can't be beat. I mean there is always ways you can earn discounted rent. If you keep your yard clean, you get a discount on rent. You pay rent on time... guess what... you get a discount on rent. Really could not be happier. When you place a service call, the guys are at your door within 24 hours. Friendly is a understatement. They present themselves well and handle the issues superfast. One guy even fixed something he saw, without even being asked. He found it before we did. The staff here is amazing. Brent our new manager is super nice and makes sure you are happy with your place. He even stayed late for us when we moved in because I got caught up in traffic. Everyone went home and he was right there walking us through our paperwork and check in. I feel safe, it's quiet here. You can hear the Ocean every night, so peaceful. The only thing that I would say irritates me, is it takes them awhile to deposit your rent. I guess that's good for some.. for me I like it to be done and know it's paid. Last month it took them over 8 days. I called to make sure they got it, the lady said, "Well if you put it through the slot, then we got it." Ummm could you look for me! Haha. But that's about it. I can't say enough good things.

I have been in the military for 23 years, and as you can imagine I have seen my fair share of apartments and their management teams. From the very beginning of our stay at Surfside Kim has made us feel welcome and at home. She personally made sure that our apartment had its promised upgraded bath and kitchen hardware and has always quickly responded to any of our repair needs or issues. The grounds at the apartments are immaculate. On any given day you can actually find Kim roaming the complex either overseeing work or making lists of work to accomplish. I have never before seen such a proactive effort on the part of a manager. When my friends and family visit they always talk about how beautiful the complex looks and I wholeheartedly agree. In 9 out of my 10 last apartments you had to pretty much drag the managers out of their office to even come look at a problem and then they would run inside as though the sun was burning their skin.
