I came down for a special showing of a film, and was captivated by this small but extremely…read morethoughtfully-run cinema. (OK, I guess theater, since they're also set up for live events, the stage looks super fun). While the original place has clearly been chopped up a bit, as these things have happened over the years, to make multiple screens, the smaller main theater retains much of its original charm. The sound was among the best I've ever heard -- forget the mall theaters with their cookie cutter speaker systems, this place feels like the audio has actually been tuned to the space. Not too loud but utterly clear and encompassing. Throw in interesting programs and very, very reasonable concession prices on top of super friendly staff, even though the Orpheum is quite a haul for us, we are definitely returning, especially for the special festival programming. Now I want to buy some merch so I can spread the word.

This is a real gem of a downtown Theatre. Tickets are priced very reasonably. $6.00 on Monday and…read moreThursday bargain nights . Tue, Fri-Sun tix are $8.00 . You get your ticket from an old fashioned ticket booth in the front of the theater before you walk in through the main doors. Candy and popcorn are served with a smile from the old style concession stand. There are two theaters downstairs, The theatre upstairs used to be the former balcony when the Orpheum, was a single screen Theatre. In the early 90's it was converted into a triplex The seats are comfortable and the upstairs room is a nice size. The theaters downstairs are a little smaller but still comfortable. The building was opened in 1908 and used to be a roller rink, for about 12 years before it became a theater. They play a cute Little trailer "let's all go to the lobby" back from the 1950s before the previews start. Then right before the movie starts up on the screen it says " orpheum theater presents feature presentation" You can't go wrong going to the theater to enjoy a motion picture. The price is right the staff is friendly and helpful the sound and projection crisp and clear no annoying commercials or too many previews before the movie Definitely a much more enjoyable personable experience vs going to a multiplex
