Hub Cafe is part of the Church of Ireland and Methodist Chaplaincy at Queen's University Belfast. However it's not just for students, anyone can call in and take advantage of the £1 filter coffees. Yes, only £1 and it's as good a cuppa as you'll find anywhere. On the day I visited patrons looked to be a mix of business people, mums with kids, retirees and students.
Although I didn't have any food, only coffee, I noticed The Hub have a sandwich bar with fresh-looking fillings on display. They sell a range of breakfasts including filled sodas, waffles and pancakes, some sweet treats and lunches such as soups and paninis.
The Hub Cafe itself has a fabulous relaxed vibe with comfortable sofas, tables and chairs. There's a snooker table or is it a pool table? Or is there a difference haha??!! Anyway, there are books to read and free WiFi too. It's just a great spot at which to chill.
You can easily ignore the fact that The Hub is part of a religious organisation. Alternatively, if you're spiritually inclined you can pop into their "worship space" to pray, or do whatever it is that religious people do. Either way, as far as this cafe's concerned, it's a brilliant little hidden gem. read more
