Somalian coffee, chai, and sambusas are incredible! Crispy, delicious, and so fresh. The spices are yummy and the sauces only added to the flavors. The owners answered questions and shared their favorites. It's right by the Vanderbilt campus, plenty of seats to do work or relax. The only downfall is the ventilation. You may walk out smelling like sambusas, but is that really so terrible?

I love how simplistic the menu is + the focus on chai teas as someone who is a chai lover! Their Somali Chai is on another level, super flavorful and pairs so well with the brown sugar flavoring. This was definitely a next level chai and I love all the flavors & customizations they have. I also appreciate having a chai that's already dairy free instead of having to ask for a substitute! The service was super quick and staff are all friendly!

So happy to have an outpost of the Horn in Midtown/ next to Vandy. They have a slightly smaller menu than the original location (especially drinks) but a great pastry case and delicious sambusas and chai (hot and iced). They're still at the VUMC Farmer's Market on Thursdays in season but save yourself the line and check out their storefront on 21st in the same building as CVS and Cava. The service is great and efficient. Several cozy tables to eat in (try the house sauces, especially the hot sauce!) but not much room for larger parties. The chai is the best and the cheesecakes are all delicious. They also have housemade Dubai chocolate bars in milk, dark and white chocolate.

We both enjoy African coffee shops but had never heard of this one so we decided to give a shot. The place was clean and filled with locals watching tv and talking amongst each other. The guy behind the counter greeted us and promptly took our orders. We ordered caramel lattes and chicken sambusas. We took our food to go and enjoyed our food at home. The sambusas were top-tier delicious and they were cheap ($2 each I believe). The coffee was strong and reasonably priced as well. This hidden gem is definitely worth a visit.

When I entered, the shop looks simple - with locals chatting and watching TV, and a person behind the counter taking orders and making tea and coffee. I personally got a medium sized tea which looks like large honestly, and I opted for the mint. The tea was made in front of me, including the steeping and foaming the milk, etc. The tea is quite sweet and served at the right temperature; it exceeded my expectations as I would've expected it to just be something like English tea that is more floral, but rather this is more minty, herbal, and creamy like milk tea. I also got a beef sambusa which was $2 and it is like a samosa - a great snack at a very affordable price. I am glad that I found this hidden gem and I will come back given the great prices and quality of the food and drink. P.S. they apparently serve camel milk, according to the front door paper!

Delicious, fresh, and flavorful meats, veggies, and injera. All of the dishes were so satisfying. As a lover of Ethiopian food, I can happily say that Street Injera delivers some of the best around the Nashville area. Add this spot to your rotation!

I assume that they're Eritrean (Habesha cousins of Ethiopians) because the names of my favorite dishes seem to be a different language from their Ethiopian counterparts' Amharic. But the flavor was never lost in translation! I ordered Combo # 3 for $18.99. It comes with your choice of 4 vegetables (out of 5 preselected options) and one salad (out of three preselected choices). The side choices are quinoa, injera, or white rice. I confirmed with them that they use teff, meaning the injera is gluten free. They also offer 3 spice levels: regular, spicy, and extra spicy. I love all five vegetable options so it was hard to decide. I ended up choosing the Red Lentils, Yellow Lentils, Tikil Gomen (the cabbage dish), and Collard Greens. Everything was excellent! 10/10! (Everything I ordered was vegan and gluten free.) I ordered spicy because I love spicy food. But let me tell you... I was not prepared for the authentic African spices they hit me with. My bad! I will never underestimate them again. I had to literally sit the injera on my tongue first, then put the food in my mouth in order to finish my meal. LOL Next time I'll be a good little American and order it the normal way. I'll try their fosolia (green beans and carrots) next time. The Shiro also looks good, but it's only available as a full entree. They operate out of a food hall, so it's take out only. I ordered online and my food was ready at the promised time. The customer service was excellent and the lady (whom I'm assuming was the owner) was very nice and helpful. I will definitely order from them again.
