Why they called it The Bram Stoker I have no idea, once you stepped inside there was nothing to do with Bram to be seen. Anyway, the batman, who I would think was the owner, was very friendly and I ordered a beer. But when I asked about ordering the chicken wings he said he would get some one to come down to me. As it turns out there is a restaurant, called Indigo, down the back of the pub and they cover all the food orders for the pub. It took quite a few mins before she appeared, though she was very friendly. The 'large buffalo wings' left a lot to be desired, they were not large by any sense of the word. I went with the BBQ sauce as she informed me, when I asked, that 'Franks sauce' contained Tabasco. They were alright but they weren't going to fill me up for the night. Before the waitress had come down to me I had asked the barman if he had any newspaper I could read. He said he was sorry he didn't but offered me a tourism magazine he had at the end of the bar. (it was in pristine condition and I would say had only been open a few times) After news, tourism would be my next best read in a pub... And I always like to know what Bord Failte are spewing to the tourists, what crap is m***pages.ie? :p Anyway I digress, finished the food and tried looking for the bill, going to the bar as I couldn't see the young lady, and was informed she would be sent down.... Another few minutes later. All in all the pub and barman were very nice and welcoming, the food delivery situation - and the food itself - leave a bit to be desired. Come in here for a quite pint if you are tired walking along the Coast Rd path..... You can't miss the big sign.

We stayed here one night before leaving Dublin. The Bram Stoker theming is kind of cheesy and only…read moreamounts to a handful of Dracula prints in a back hallway. The rooms are very basic - no luxury here, no sir. Hard mattresses, 80's furniture. The afternoon we checked in, a dog in the neighbor's yard (the rooms face a row of residential back yards) barked nonstop for two hours when we were trying to take a nap. The staff seemed baffled when we told them, and not particularly helpful. The staff is the hotel's main weakness. There was a very unfriendly woman waiting tables when we went down to the restaurant and our waiter was an absolute snot. He made it more than clear, waiting on us was a big hassle for him. The reason I give the hotel a three is they have a beautiful, inviting restaurant and a surprisingly great craft beer selection. If they can upgrade the rooms to match the restaurant and fire the rude staff, they might have something.

Upon arriving I was immediately greeted by Karen. She made me feel so very Welcome. She explained everything about the hotel and the town. Chelsie also helped me get checked in also. Chelsie made me feel very Welcome also. My room was so very clean, great bathroom, great bed , television , desk and was just perfect. The next morning I had an amazing full Irish Breakfast. Great Coffee and Toast also. The chef Steve is an amazing chef and so professional. He made sure I was well taken care of. He genuinely cares about the guests. The dinning room is very cozy and very well set up. Murphy's Hotel is located in the village of Tinahely , County Wickow. It should be noted I am originally from Dublin, Ireland, lived in the United States for over thirty years and served all over the world with the United States Marines all over the world. I definitely know an amazing Hotel from all my Travels and Life Experiences. I loved my stay so much. I booked one more night at Murphy's Hotel. I personally think this speaks volumes about this establishment! I definitely will return in the near future. Definitely a must visit in County Wicklow, Ireland. Murphy's Hotel rates five stars and more! A great stay , Amazing Staff and beautiful town. Shout out to Steve, Karen, Chelsie and William.

First of all, go on google and read more than 150 reviews. Second of all mine is here in short…read more The good. Room we got was great. Much bigger and spacious than in competing hotels. Food is lovely. The rest is in ordinary standards so I won't be writing about the regular stuff. The bad. Service is lacking. We had our room booked and upon arriving it wasn't ready yet. Which happens, it would be okay if a four star hotel would had offered us some complimentary tea or coffee, a cake etc. We came back in one hour and room was prepared by then. One good side is the pricing for the standards you get, except the service quality is lacking. At the bar restaurant (main opens only after 5 pm) we ordered three course meal and drinks. We ordered steak for which we had to pay extra €5 once we finished and went to pay for the drinks at the till. €5 fee applies to who gets steak with a voucher, we had that. We were not advised when we ordered steak that it will be charged extra. So that is another minus for service. IMPORTANT! This hotel mainly serves as a overnight stay for people who come to see their folks at the nearby hospital. Also, hotel supports local charity or some kids organisation (which is fantastic), just be prepared to see a lot of children running around in a lobby or swimming pool area. It's good for cheaper one night stay, but wouldn't recommend for anything longer than that and if you are looking for a quality high class stay.

Plenty of free parking both inside and out. Inside meet the friendly staff who are more than accommodating with reasonably priced rooms and all the amenities you would expect in a fine hotel. Check out the bar where not only great drinks are available but food as well. I recommend the 8-oz Irish hamburger (with a pint of Smitwicks). It's a challenge but well worth it. However, their club sandwich is hard to beat. Want something more formal? Visit the Cedar restaurant where you will find a great menu with reasonable prices. I recommend the salmon dinner followed by their great apple pie. Like some wine with dinner? No problem. A good selection is available. Breakfast! Be careful. You are welcomed by your host with coffee or tea followed by selection of great Irish traditional breakfast foods. It's easy to get carried away. Looking forward to visiting again soon. Most hotels offer shower only rooms after remodeling. Breakfast in the hotel was amazing; included fresh fruits and juices, the traditional Irish entrees or you could opt for pancakes. I asked him are there any decent people left in Ireland and I was given a snigger as a reply. I'm quite disappointed that I was treated like this customer service and a small budget compassion needs to be addressed by Management. I am in the hospitality business myself and if any of my staff treat any customer with such coldness and lack of concern, I would be deeply upset. the first that people see on arrival and departure and I really feel that this gentleman has left down my overall experience shall I say is not the best.

Every other property I visited was warm, welcoming, and accommodating. The Gibson was the exact opposite. From the moment I arrived, the staff were cold, unhelpful, and unwelcoming. At check-in, I was handed a key with barely a word and simply pointed toward the lift. No offer to assist with luggage, no information about the hotel, no sense of hospitality whatsoever. Throughout my stay, whenever I passed through the lobby, staff either ignored me entirely or deliberately looked busy to avoid interacting. I even sat in the lobby for a while just observing, and it wasn't just me - the staff treated all guests this way. Aloof, uninterested, and uncaring. Hospitality is supposed to be about warmth and service, but here it felt like guests were an inconvenience. This hotel was the least accommodating, least hospitable, and least welcoming of my entire trip, and it wasn't even close. Ireland is known for its friendliness and warmth - but you will not find it here. Do yourself a favor and stay literally anywhere else. I strongly do not recommend the Gibson Hotel.

Let me preface this by saying that I had an extremely early flight and I really just needed a room…read morefor a 24-hour period before I took another (extremely early) flight. There are a few choices for hotels near the airport, including a Radisson Blu that you can apparently walk to, but Holiday Inn has a better price point than most, provides a shuttle (currently limited because of covid--check with hotel for exact hours), and provides several amenities such as a Starbucks, same-day dry cleaning, and a 24-hour To Go cafe. I called the 800 number to make a reservation and told them I was an IHG member seeking a day use room. Unfortunately day use rooms are subject to availability and they didn't have any available, but the agent noted that I'd like an early check in on my reservation. My flight arrived at 5:40 am. The walk to the shuttle bus area was long and cold. I would strongly suggest contacting the hotel before you leave to find out where exactly to meet the bus. I winged it based on the info on their website (rookie mistake!) and I'm still not sure I was in the right area because the helpful bus driver saw me and asked if I needed the Holiday Inn Express. I was so thankful to actually receive an early check in! I don't know what I'd do if I had to wait until 3:00...probably pass out on the sofas in the lobby. The front desk people were efficient but very busy. The same story goes for the bar area and 24-hour cafe staff. This must have also been true for the cleaning staff as the floor in the bathroom needed a good scrubbing and there was a fine layer of dust on everything from the Kleenex box to the telephone. And for the first time I didn't care. All I cared about was getting over my jet lag! Food from the bar for dinner was okay for filling the tummy after a day of sightseeing. You are encouraged to go to your room after ordering and pick up your tray when they call you. Even though the hotel is fairly new, the rugs are showing signs of wear. Nothing felt super clean, but then again, I am a huge, OCD stickler about that. Service was great if not sometimes frazzled with how busy it could be. Front desk was helpful. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Food was average--not terrible and not Michelin (but I was pleasantly surprised by their brown bread and the Coronation Chicken sandwich!). Shuttle driver was stellar and explained everything we needed to know about the shuttle, meals, amenities, etc on the way over. Location just a few minutes from the airport is ideal for layovers. But in-room cleanliness didn't live up to their "Clean Promise." I would have given a solid three stars without an early check in. But I'm adding a star for being able to check in early!
