We walk in to a very dark, dreary restaurant. The cashier took our order and seemed very confused or as if she couldn't hear what we were asking for. Food came out at a decent speed, only to find the chili cheese dog cold and the onion rings EXTREMELY salty. My husband's food seemed to be warmer than mine and the fries, better. THAT is the only reason for the one star. Such a shake because we would gavw gladly made the drive from old Magnolia to enjoy a delicious burger or hot dog! We have decided not to return.

The quality: excellent. It's incredibly rare to get two of those in one place, let alone all three. But we truly loved every single thing we tried. I ordered a double cheeseburger and potato salad. Both awesome. My wife ordered the ham and cheese sandwich. Despite loving the first couple bites of my burger, when I tried hers, I couldn't figure out which one I enjoyed more. Even our son's chicken tenders and fries were both excellent. Going in here is like going back in time - in terms of what it looks like, and the total on your bill. I have no idea how they manage to pull this off when food costs are so out of control, but please don't make the same mistake I did. Come here. Now.

Because I'm so glad we have one of these close by now…read more --- --- --- One trend that's incredibly consistent with a new restaurant opening is that whenever they provide an estimated date to open, you should probably tack on an additional 6 months to that if you want to be realistic. Bamburger was the complete opposite of this. Despite my wife and I being in every local foodie group on the internet, where stories often break about new restaurant openings far in advance, this one totally escaped us. The very first time it even entered our radar that this was happening was a post on Facebook saying, "now open!" And not only was this some random restaurant opening, but we LOVE Bamburger, so this was an amazing surprise. It turns out, the reason they were able to do this so stealthy, is because it only took them 3 weeks to take over the space from the former tenant (a baked potato spot), and turn it into a Bamburger. Major kudos for what I can only assume is a Guiness World Record. In fairness, there's basically not one thing that was changed in the front of the house from the old restaurant. I talked to the guy who I assume is the owner and he said they had to do stuff in the kitchen, but that's still really amazing efficiency. And as it turns out, the smash burgers here are just as good as the original location on 2920. As are the tallow fries. Just like the original location, the menu is really basic. You just order everything on an iPad and they bring it out to you when it's ready. It's basically: smash burger (single, double or triple), spicy smash burger, smashed chicken sandwich or the vegan burger. My go to is a double with the added bacon patty, to go along with the tallow fries (loaded fries and sweet potato fries are also an option). I also added on a strawberry watermelon drink instead of a soda, which was awesome. It does come with free refills too. To-date, Bamburger has only been topped by one place in all of Greater Houston, IMO, for best smash burger. Hotline Burger is still my #1, but it's also an hour away, so it looks like me and Bamburger will be getting to know each other really well in the near and distant future when I'm craving a smash.

We both ordered smashburgers with a single patty--they charge extra to add lettuce, tomato and pickles. Raw onion is not an option on the menu. The burgers come with caramelized onions, cheese, and bamsauce. We also got an order of fries and the cookies and cream milkshake. Everything was flavorful overall, and the fries were very hot. I added lettuce and pickles, so my burger had a nice balance of meaty cheesiness along with some freshness. The food did take longer than I expected for it to come out--so don't expect fast food speed. The milkshake was so good, I had a hard time not consuming it right away, but I was also pretty hungry. It's a pretty bare bones place from the menu to the service to the overall ambiance. For anyone who prefers to keep their distance from others, this is a dream come true.
