Food was really good! For a bar-like setting, the food far exceeded your regular British-pub food.read more

Hands up who likes Belgian beer? Then please let me direct you to Brouge. First of all, its a…read moresurprising treat to get here. As you walk up Richmond High Street, past all the chain bars and restaurants, a little sign catches you eye - but it is at foot level. Brouge is located in the basement of a building, so you have to walk down stone steps, and push open a heavy wooden door to get in. The inside is pleasingly designed with cosy, sleek leather booths. I was with friends who wanted to make their way through the Belgian beer list, and it is comprehensive beyond your wildest dreams. I lost count of the varied amount of beer that were on tap, but I saw blonde bier (using the Belgian spelling), brown bier, fruit bier, Trappist bier, as well as ales. Pages and pages of all types of beer. They all went down a treat - apart from for me, who doesn't like beer! Sorry everyone. Still, there was plenty to eat and drink, and non beer drinkers needn't feel left out. The lunch and dinner menu is also Belgian themed, one speciality is mussels, done 4 different ways. I also spied larger plates, like Belgian sausage and mash. I was pleased to see that there was plenty of wine on offer, and they thoughtfully suggested matches of meals to the drinks. The wine list does jump up in price though, most of the bottles were £25.00 or up. There were a handful of house wines which were under £15.00, thankfully. Perhaps next time I come here I will try out a couple of beers? I guess this is the place to do so.

Great local place to meet up with an old friend. Started well until we were alone in the dining…read moreroom competing with a teenage group who was incredibly loud. We asked the server to move us which happened but unfortunate. Highly recommend the crispy Califlower and mezza platter. Garlic shrimp so so and surprised no calamari on the menu. Service was not attentive which was another unfortunate experience. They could up their game with simple changes.

Absolutely shocking. We paid nearly £900 for 13 of us to have Christmas Dinner here. After being…read moretold our original booking at the regent had been cancelled 4 weeks before Christmas, we was booked here by the main office with no other choice. We thought we had been upgraded as costs for the meals were higher but this was not the case. I will not fail to mention the lovely lady who takes the bookings offering lots of help and support for some of the family who had issues with certain foods on the menu, wonderful lady didn't get her name. Christmas day.. Starters we had were great, until the Christmas Dinner came out! Frozen mixed veg which hadn't been MICROWAVED long enough so was still frozen, rock hard undercooked potatoes, almost raw pigs in blankets, gravy like water and not to mention the turkey...already cooked turkey that was from a packet maybe then microwaved . And then the Yorkshire...that would of knocked someone out if thrown across the room. On to the pudding, chocolate cake that was drowed in so much alcohol, our kids would have walked out drunk if finished ! Service was shocking, forgetting all of our prev orders and bringing out different dishes saying we must have ordered it when we definitely would not have ordered salmon on Christmas day, but stood arguing that we had. No "can I get u anything", huffing and puffing when we asked for cutlery we hadn't been brought. We complained to the manager on the day, he offered no alternatives and was happy for us to all leave hungry, no free drinks even.. they still had to be paid for. No sorry really. He said he would happily get us a refund on the prepayment we had made we just needed to contact the main department in a few days and he will okay it. 4 weeks it has taken, over 15 phonecards, being passed left right and centre, being hung up on, telling me lots of different stories as to why they cant issue refund yet. To then be sent an email saying we will not be issuing a refund on this occasion. Without even an apology or a voucher or any kind of compensation. I have 12 other people that will be writing there experience on the reviews, this is not something I wanted to do but after the lack of responsibility and disgraceful service experienced I will be taking this further. AVOID AT ALL COST And do not pre pay ever!

A gem! A high end, fine dining establishment- once upon a time it was a pub, but now it is most…read moredefinitely a restaurant and don't wander in expecting a pint of lager and a packet of pork scratchings. The dinner menu ( at £70/person) includes three courses appropriate to the season ( three or four choices per course). The wine list is robust, and includes a good selection of wine by the glass . While none of it is cheap, there is a lot of art in the food. If I had one small gripe, it would be that the experience is a little on the slow side- dinner was a three hour affair- on the other hand you don't really want to be swilling back your Pomerol as though it were a supermarket Beaujolais on a Friday night.

Great quality food in a nicely decorated restaurand and good deal with their set lunch weekend…read moremenu: 35£ for 3 courses. The lunch started with some parmesan shortbread and truffle cream with chervil. Also Irish soda bread for the table (in house made and delicious). For starters we all went for the charred mackerel, radish, ginger and champagne. Super tasty, one of the best meaty mackerel I have had in a while and the sauce was super fragrant. For mains, I went for the middle white pork (very creative and delicious) and my family went for the Hake and lime sauce (well cooked fish!). And for desserts we all went for the chamomile and apple creme brulee. Sooo goood! Overall the food is classic Irish with a twist! I would highly recommend it for a special occasion
