Where can a homeless person hang out without being completely scrutinized? Ding, ding. You guessed…read moreit! The library. Obviously, I enjoy all the amenities: Internet access, desks for a laptop, and power plugs... and books, of course. On another note... Whatever happened to silence? I don't think this particular library is the only one guilty of being loud. I think it's a societal problem. When you have political correctness that has gone amuck, this is what you get. At this library, I've heard domestic squabbles (from other homeless people, unfortunately), crying kids, and people that don't realize that their singing is carrying throughout the library. You know what's done about it? Absolutely nothing. I understand why, though.

This location happens to be within a few minutes walk from my home. I've been coming here for…read moreyears and have come to appreciate the branch for it's size and selection of books, movies, and music. I also like the kids programs they put out. My daughter has been a part if the summer reading program for years and I believe that has helped her become the avid reader she is today. They also have other children's programs that are a lot of fun. The branch staff has basically been the same for quite a long time and they have always been friendly and helpful. The only issue I have found here is parking during summer months. Because it is located next to a city pool it can sometimes be an issue to find a spot. The Spokane libraries do a wonderful job of making the library experience easy. You can order materials that are located at other branches and have them delivered to your local branch. You can get free music downloads by popular artists through Freegal. Computer usage is easy and you can block times online. If you haven't been for a while you should check out all they have to offer.

Pretty decent library, and one that typifies the turn libraries have taken in the past 10 years or…read moreso from simple, functional, massive collections of stuff (books, typically), to more inviting and multi-functional community spaces. Which is to say they don't have a huge selection of material. It's actually a little shocking how few shelves they have, and of these, maybe 70% is devoted to books and the rest is DVDs, CDs, games, Audio books and so forth. There is a massive open space devoted to children, with whimsical spaces for kids to hang out. Lots of comfortable seating for grown-ups as well, and it's functional and clean. Overall the design and aesthetic is top-notch. Beautiful, high ceilings with warm lighting. Floor to ceiling windows surround the majority of the building letting in lots of natural light. The location is a bit odd, and I'm guessing they figure the space will be filled in with more density 5-10 years down the road since right now the surrounding area is a bit under-developed. The park right outside makes the library a great 1-2 punch for an outing with kiddos. Bathrooms are clean. Lots of conference rooms for groups. Contracted security on-site every time I've been here, which is both good and bad depending on how you look at it.

From the owner: This Liberty Park Library has everything you need to be more connected to your community. The new…read moreand improved facility provides free meeting spaces, a children's playspace, a curated art and book collection, a quiet reading room, free computer access and more.
