Our second cabin there was spacious and just as good as the first, if not better. I can't get over just how clean and authentic the place was. It was nice to come back to these cabins after a long day in the park. The manager, Shay, made our trip better. He went out if his way to accommodate us and was always willing to answer questions and help out in any way he can. Its four rustic log cabins were built in the 1940s in a forest of pine trees right off a central avenue in West Yellowstone and almost walking distance to the West Entrance of Yellowstone National Park. They don't take online reservations here, rely mostly on word of mouth to fill the cabins from May to October, and take great pride in providing incredible personal service from the family that has owned Whispering Pines Motel for decades. There is much to love here -- inviting front porches, the charming and woodsy decor, the feeling of being in a special place untouched by time. Each cabin has its own unique features from the largest cabin with beamed ceilings and views into the woods that sleeps five to the smallest unit for two that wraps you in a warm coziness that's hard to leave. She had great recommendations for dinner, drinks and then breakfast. Room was nice and warm (after being on a snowmobile all day that was great!). And my favorite, Savannah, the office dog my friends told me I had to go meet (more important to meet her than to buy post cards). They readily helped us with a small extra need for one of our party. (Jul 2026) Our Gallatin Cabin was separate from three other cabins in two other buildings. Ours was modern, bright, and clean. They provide a nice book of local recommendations, and a number of useful discount coupons! Thanks! One bedroom was roomier. Two others were quite cozy, filled with queen bed and cabinet. There was wifi and a moderate-size tv, which we used to screen-share the day's photos. The kitchen area was roomy and fully equipped, with an open counter with tall chairs. We ate there, and at an indoor picnic-like table. The open layout was nice for conversation. It was convenient to have laundry facilities, and two shower-bathrooms. There was a small attached deck with chairs, and also a grill with table and chairs across the parking lot. We didnt cook there, but we did sit at one or the other for morning coffee and evening beverages. We felt comfortable and welcome. This was perfect lodging with perfect hosts at a convenient not-too-busy location with a nice restaurant-bar across the street, and within a short walking distance of downtown shops, restaurants, and bars.
