Lazy G was great for a hotel on our snowmobiling adventure in Yellowstone. We could drive our snowmobiles into town and directly to the hotel. The lady at the front was sooo nice and helpful. (Go in and get postcards~ I didn't give myself time to do that and I wished I had). She had great recommendations for dinner, drinks and then breakfast. Room was nice and warm (after being on a snowmobile all day that was great!). And my favorite, Savannah, the office dog my friends told me I had to go meet (more important to meet her than to buy post cards). And we could park our snow mobiles right in front of our rooms~super convenient to meet up with our friends (who's snow mobile is packed~guess they're ready!) read more

We are happy to say the Lazy Duck has a boutique air about it! The renovation was well decorated; all the modern conveniences. Shower was small, so I recommend adding the hand held shower heads. Neighborhood seems questionable; but no problems. We would stay here again. read more

We were pleasantly surprised by the Lazy Duck Inn (formerly the LazyG). The new management group expertly remodeled the units and there is more than just new paint - they have new flooring, new vanity, sinks and nice colorful furniture. It felt clean and new. The shower water pressure and heat was perfect (even enjoyed the funny disco shower head). They have a refrigerator in the room and a nice colorful Keurig machine for coffee and tea. The motel is walkable close (within 1/2 mile) to downtown West Yellowstone and is a 1/2 block from the Running Bear pancake house. Free easy parking out front. The only potential issue is the air conditioning as it appears they just have portable units in the room. We were fortunate it wasn't too hot during our stay so only had to turn it on once to break the stuffiness still air. Bed was comfy. I would give them 4.5 stars if I could. read more

Do not stay at this hotel. Their advertising is misleading and false. We stayed 3 nights there. It was clean. Management responded promptly to problems with locking the door. However, when I book a hotel that advertises breakfast included and laundry included, I do not expect to get there and be told I have to drive half a mile to a restaurant that does not open before 8 am and get watery oatmeal. You could get eggs. But we wanted to be in Yellowstone National Park by 7 am. So we only got our "free" breakfast once. Decided we could microwave instant oatmeal at 6 am ourselves. When we asked about where the laundry was, we were told, once again, to drive down the road, turn, and find it somewhere down the block. Not acceptable. Don't stay here. The floor in the bathroom, which looked like waterproof luxury vinyl, oozed water...and the bathroom counter was really small. read more

This place is a gem! We were on a road trip so didn't have advance reservations for Memorial Day weekend. We stayed 2 nights. Very clean, comfortable, cozy and affordable. The owner was a delight sand gives a goodie bag at check in. How thoughtful is that? It was charming and we will definitely stay again when I'm the area. read more

Everything in West Yellowstone is overpriced; it's a tourist trap. That said, the Lazy G Motel was relatively inexpensive and the rooms were neat and clean. The woman at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful. I would definitely stay there again. read more

Very lovely owner but the simple fact is it's time to put in air conditioners. It got to 90 degrees today and it's even worse if you're on the second floor; the sun hits it at 5:30 and doesn't stop cooking it until 10 o'clock at night. The owner also lives there and her "back porch" is immediately adjacent to one side of the hotel. Unfortunately she has friends over every night and they don't disperse until around 9:30-10, their voices really carry so going to sleep is basically impossible until they finally disperse. I get that she lives here but her entertaining shouldn't come at the cost of your guests sleep. This really sucks if you have to get up early to take a tour, not to mention the fact that the room stays warm all night long (LEAVING THE WINDOWS OPEN IS NO LONGER SUFFICIENT). Don't ignore the reviews complaining about the lack of a/c like I did. I get at most 4 hours of sleep a night..... maybe. Ultimately if you can't sleep in your hotel room nothing else really matters. I'll be returning to yellowstone but won't be staying here. I advise you to do the same if you actually want to sleep. read more

Lazy Duck Inn - This is unacceptable in the year 2021 - Hotels Near Me - West Yellowstone, Montana

Exceptional! A few blocks away from the main retail area, nestled among homes and other cabin rentals. Clean as a whistle with every imaginable kitchen item provided in our unit. Staff was so nice, cheerful and helpful. We were even greeted with a goody bag! We'll be back, whenever we get to Yellowstone again! Thank you! read more

Oh, this motel was clean, quiet and the owners are awesome. Although it's got old looking paneling, every thing else is perfect, it's so super clean and large. Priced way below the neighboring motels and it's only ten blocks from the East entrance to YellowStone! 120$ is about as cheap as it gets! Gas in the area is super high so plan ahead! Tons of food options as well in the area. read more

A really nice, reasonable place to stay when you're in Yellowstone. We were arriving late, so I called to let them know that. They were SO nice and made alternate arrangements, and even thanked me for calling them to let them know. The room was spotless, and the towels changed every day. I would totally stay there again, especially since the room rates are so much more affordable than the other hotels in town. read more

The kindness, thoughtfulness, consideration, and helpfulness of The Lazy G Motel won me over. I don't know why I made such a blunder over my arrival and reservation dates, but I did. And despite my error, the staff at the Lazy G did an amazing thing for which my family and I were immensely grateful. THEY HELD OUR RESERVATION FOR US, even though we arrived an entire day late. The hostess even said, "We were concerned about you... and we wanted to make sure you were alright..." How relieved and reassured we felt to know that here was a business that believed in, trusted, and backed the customer! (FYI: I'm not a cell phone user.) The Lazy G was our refuge for refueling and recharging after long days hiking and sight-seeing in Yellowstone Park. We made full use of the refrigerator, the ice exchange, the picnic table, the fountain and swing, the goodie bag, the room furniture, the free coffee... The Lazy G had all the necessities for a "base camp!" Any extras we wanted were within walking distance. The best part was that the Lazy G is set back from all the noise and traffic in little West Yellowstone, so we all slept soundly. Stay at The Lazy G! read more

The Lazy G Motel saved our vacation. We had reserved a VRBO October 2017 for a family vacation in August 2018. A house with a kitchen and a crib for our new grandson. Four days before our vacation was to start VRBO cancelled on us. They told us to call back the day before to get some help getting accommodations. Their policy is to wait for the day before to help out but we were to look on our own. Of course we would not wait that long. We had people coming in from various states. Luckily my husband found the Lazy G. Janice helped us find accommodations for everyone. She was so kind and helpful. She had a two bedroom for my sons and their families with a kitchen. We got a room with a kitchenette. The Lazy G is located very close to Yellowstone another bonus. Thanks so much Janice for saving our vacation! read more

This was my second time staying at the Lazy G Motel and this stay was just as enjoyable as the first! Lazy G is located in a prime location to visit all the shops in West Yellowstone. We were able to walk to buy all of our souvenirs! It is also ideally located for entrance into the park; barely a 3 minute drive. Every employee I came into contact with was considerate and friendly; asking about my day and providing advice on what to see within the park each day. My room was clean and comfortable. This is officially the only place I'll stay when visiting Yellowstone! read more

Great place. Although it may look suspect from the outside, it is perfect for a one night stay. Clean. Great service. Good mattresses.

Stayed at the Lazy G Motel on vacation last summer after a recommendation from a friend, and I'm so glad I did! It was clean, convenient, and cozy, and the workers made us feel like part of the family! They recommended some great restaurants and made sure to tell us the "must-see" spots in the park. (Without their advice, we wouldn't have seen Artist Point, which ended up being one of my favorite stops in the park!) The motel is in a prime location, as it is just a short walk to the downtown shops and restaurants, and just a short drive to the entrance of the park. So glad we chose this motel for our vacation! We will definitely be back! read more

Clean clean clean. Friendly staff and owners. Janice, Frank, and Bri were awesome! I'm guessing there are more employees but we only met the owners and Bri. Pleasant and helpful. Clean, comfortable room. Amenities in room: fridge, shampoo, lotion, bar soaps, alarm clocks, hair dryer, and plenty of towels and washcloths. A+! read more

We stayed at the Lazy G on an unexpected stop over in West Yellowstone. The manager was very friendly and even let us look at the room before signing in. She also answered our questions as to where to find some essentials we needed. The room was extremely clean and functional, the beds were excellent with great pillows. The shower was very nice as well. Overall, it was not a luxury hotel, but it met our needs exactly and would definitely recommend it for budget conscious travelers looking for a clean place to stay. read more

Booked a room for me and my sister at the last minute during the busy season. The price was good and they were willing to do a one night rental which is hard to find. I've been to West Yellowstone before and I wasn't too thrilled with the neighborhood the motel was on but the town is small so we were still right near Yellowstone. The room was very clean, large and comfortable. They also has wifi, cable, and they gave us a little snack goodie bag when we checked in. The lady at the front desk was very nice and helpful. read more

We loved it! Stayed 2 nights. Janice and her husband couldn't have been kinder or more helpful. Even gave us a goodie bag as a welcome. Clean sheets and towels, warm blankets, kitchenette optional. The wooden walls lenses a old West atmosphere! read more

I give 5 stars because of the value vs price. Dalton and Brie were as accommodating as you possibly can be. The room was clean and the refrigerator cold, i BBQ'ed both days in the patio(they have multiple bbq's)... if you park, you must be a frog!!! all others will be toad!........I have had Wild West Pizza prior to this trip and it was one of the best!! for lunch, i ate on the Las Palmitas Taco Bus, excellent!! with homemade tortillas!!!(firehole ave, next to Arby's) read more

This is kind of a hard review to write, only because I'm torn between considering how very satisfactory the place was, and my unreasonable customer side. I don't often do pro and con lists, but this one warrants a change of pace. Pros: *HUGE room. Two queens, a futon, and ample space elsewhere. *Very comfortable. Newer carpet. *Super nice staff. Jan was sweet even when we had to bug her late at night because we locked our keys in the room. *Quiet location. The property has a BBQ and picnic tables for summer eating. *Nice mini-fridge that doesn't freeze your food. *Cheap. $88/night for both Sat and Sun. Cons: *No coffee pot, microwave, or phone. Luckily, I prepare for nuclear fall out when I travel, so I brought my own coffee pot and microwave. *No ice machine. You have to get it from the lobby, but it closes at 9pm. *You get the distinct feeling that this motel has been ripped off before, and therefore every patron is a potential thief/vandal. Towels were labled to indicate what they should be used for (rag, make-up, etc.) and there was a laminated letter informing us that we'd be charged if we ruined a towel (or stole one). There was also a little sign informing us that everything of value on the property has been noted and the Bozeman police department has them on record. Two other signs informed us that smoking and breaking the 'no pet' policy would result in a $100 fine. While I understand that business owners need to protect themselves, I don't like being made to feel that I'm a potential problem and they've taken every measure to ensure that I'm held responsible. I mean, sure--make me sign something that tells me this stuff, but don't post it all over the room as a constant reminder. All in all, I think this was a fantastic, reasonably priced place for the money in this town. I paid far more for the last motel here, and it didn't have the same space. If they had included a microwave, a coffee pot, and a phone, I would have given them five stars. read more

My husband and I stayed at the Lazy G for several nights while traveling through the National Parks and could not have enjoyed our stay more! Clean rooms and everything you could need at hand. The owners made sure to make our visit very special and recommended a perfect breakfast spot and things to do while in town. After several long days on the road it was so refreshing to feel so welcomed at the Lazy G. We would highly recommend this treasure, which is also only a few stone throws from the entrance of Yellowstone National Park. We wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else when in the area! read more

At first we were worried about the lack of air conditioning as we stayed in June. However, mornings & nights are very cool in Montana so it was not a problem as we were out in the park during the day. In fact the room got quite cool overnight with the fan on & the windows open. We did not have time to watch TV. Towels not great but not the worst. Owner Jan went above & beyond to help us with an computer/GPS equipment issue we had. Yes, the rooms are a little dated & yes, the coffee in the room is instant with a hot water boiler...but for the price I would definitely stay here again as it was very clean. If you want up to date rooms with all the amenities, go stay at the Holiday Inn or Three Bear Lodge where you will pay over $200/night. :) read more

My first stay here was in July 1997. I had a foster child with me I was considering adopting. The 2 bedroom suite was perfect. As I was checking out, social services called the motel and Janice came outside to tell me I had an important phone call. I was told that I could not return her to her foster home due to an incident that had nothing to do with the child. They didn't have any emergency placements available so could I keep her a few more days? Yellowstone peak season? Seriously? Janice overheard my side of the conversation and the panic in my voice. She said not to worry, they would figure something out. We went into the park as planned and when we returned, Janice had shuffled things around and we had a room for another 3 days. The child had mentioned how much she liked the wolves at the Grizzly center and we arrived to find a stuffed wolf cub on the pillow. Such a thoughtful gesture. We came back 10 years later and were greeted like old friends. She had wondered how things worked out. That phone call and Janice's kindness made the decision to adopt. Twenty plus years later, I still remember the compassion she showed us and yes, we still have the wolf cub. read more

GREAT motel for the price!! Although this is a "plain" motel without a lot of the "extras" (like complementary breakfast & big ice machine), the staff were super nice, professional & accommodating. Huge hotel room that had an extra room & bed w/ it. A nice plus was there was a small refrigerator in the room & the bed was comfortable. The staff gave us ice from their own machine plus there was free coffee available in the office. It's very close to Yellowstone N.P. We'll definitely be back! read more

The owner of this motel is the heart of the experience. Janet is a dream. My parents went to her motel for 20 years, originally due to its proximity to the west gate of Yellowstone. A health condition prevented them from making the long trip. After 5 years, I recently took them, and my grandson. We booked our rooms. My parent's concerns were addressed, AND Janet was effusive in her emails about her joy that she would see them again. We were greeted with a goody bag full of snacks and info about the park. In the office, coffee is available in the mornings, along with a plethora of information about all of the theater/museums in town, and the park itself.Yellowstone National Park is 3 blocks away, and the town of West Yellowstone is quaint, with many amazing shops and events. It was the exact escape we were craving. The rooms were perfect for us, and they maintain the sense of outdoor life, while providing comfort and cleanliness, wifi and satellite t.v. Whenever my husband and I return to Yellowstone, we will be reserving our room at the Lazy G. read more
