We spent three fairly pleasant nights here in early August, and were overall happy with our experience. We booked the 2-room unit in the motel (a king bed in one room and two queens in the other). When we got to our room we were initially concerned about noise because it was along a high-traffic corridor for guests heading to the restaurant and main lobby. As it turned out, this wasn't an issue at all. The positives: - very convenient to the west entrance of Yellowstone - just drive down the street and you're there - short walk to all the restaurants and shops, though probably every other hotel in town is also a short distance away - super friendly front desk staff, easy to reach with questions - free cookies in the lobby (and they are delicious!) - very good breakfast buffet with hot items that changes a bit every day The less positive: - the rooms and furnishings are very dated, but clean - not enough seating for everyone - just a couple small arm chairs and a desk chair - the toilet/bathtub room is a little cramped, and the shower head is low so taller people will have to stoop - air conditioning was temperamental. We figured it out eventually but the first night was a little uncomfortable - bath amenities were a little spartan. A fresh bar of soap for the shower wasn't provided for our stay. It would be nice to have a separate conditioner because the shampoo/conditioner option wasn't all that great The cost of our three-night stay, with breakfast included, was about $1000. Given that we were there in the summer season just before the end of the school break, it wasn't entirely unexpected, plus we had two rooms and three large beds total. It was worth it. read more

Convenient location next to restaurants, shops, and a little over half miles from the West Entrance. We stayed in the motel part, and while the room was on the smaller side, was adequate. They have fresh baked cookies in the lobby and you get a voucher valid for up to $10 for breakfast and coffee, juice, soda, or hot chocolate. The front desk gals were friendly. We didn't use the pool (outdoor) or hot tub, but they looked nice. We paid about $170 per night not including taxes. They have RV parking. I rarely give five stars if you see my reviews. Everything about this place was good actually excellent. The breakfast assigned is not average and is absolutely above normal. Highly recommended as it came with our room. The room was clean, decorated, the beds were comfortable, and the air conditioning was excellent. The TV had a wide selection of channels, and it all worked correctly and was clean. Yes, this hotel may be costing just a little bit more. Since we will know, most likely not be back to Yellowstone I will tell you the truth in stating that they are under pricing their rooms at this place . They should be asking $100 more a night. Conservative estimate of everything that I've seen throughout all different hotel states and areas. They need to up their rates because they are actually too low by at least 20 to 40%. When we have breakfast, we watched a head, waiter training, a newer waiter. I was actually watching in a managerial way to see if he was following the correct way to train new employees. Visited West Yellowstone for a snowmobile trip & stayed at the 3 Bear Lodge. What a wonderful time we had. We stayed in the motel section,rooms were clean pillows & mattress so comfy after a day of snowmobiling. So quiet to get a good night sleep. Snowmobile rentals right outside our doors. Our guide was Chris we were so impressed with him on our 1st guided day that we requested him for our 2nd day. Personable & so knowledgeable about the history surrounding Yellowstone. Tom helped us out the day we were on our own with mapping out directions for various trails. We had breakfast every morning at the restaurant which was literally right across from the rooms where we were staying. Good selection of breakfast items. Waitstaff all very friendly & work very hard. We did not rent a car & opted instead for transportation from Bizeman Airport. We basically could walk every where we wanted to in town. Grocery store close by that also sold beer & wine. On the few down days we had we spent at the Grizzly & Wolf Sanctuary it was amazing & within walking distance of the lodge. read more

Like others have said, the lodge is nicer than the motel but the motel is cheaper than the lodge. So guess who stayed in the motel? Everything about Three Bear Lodge seems like a labor of love. The staff exhibit exemplary warmth and hospitality. The place has a plethora of historical images. The founder's autobiography is on sale throughout as are stories of his story. Every furnishing in your room is handmade and though that rustic heavy wood look isn't what I want in my home it's quite perfect in this environment. A stay at Three Bear Lodge includes breakfast at Three Bear Restaurant and this is a nice perk as they do a good job. About the motel: the exterior is thoroughly without charm but it's clean and neat. You can tell someone cares as summer flowers have been planted in the small planter areas near the cabin entrances. Inside, the rooms are very clean and very quiet with fine shower pressure. Housekeeping does a good job here. Whether you stay in the motel or the lodge you're welcome to use the outdoor pool and the two indoor jacuzzis beside it. Fresh towels are kept stocked at the jacuzzis. You have no idea how relieving it feels to sit by the pool or soak in the jacuzzi after a day spent in the park and though I wouldn't think I'd need lodging which had a pool or jacuzzi in these parts I was very happy mine had it. From here, you can easily walk to dinner and to the many tourist shops in the area and the western entrance to Yellowstone Park is very nearby. As I drove around West Yellowstone I noticed a plethora of other places to spend the night. I can't recall how I wound up settling on Three Bear Lodge ($241.90 per night total, including daily breakfast for 2) but even after noticing some other places which looked interesting I had to admit that I was perfectly happy, pleased even, with my choice. read more

Friendly staff and clean rooms.. we went during low season.. only room left for 2 was a room for 6 people in the lodge..worked out well as I got my man cave..no daily room service due to Covid but we were able to swap out towels.. restaurant is close by and good food.. hostess at restaurant were a bit terse but waiter/ waitress were cool.... was able to borrow bear spray while I was hiking..only bummer is limited laundry however laundromat is close by.. will return in future read more

I'll be honest we stayed at the former conference room which is now the four bed suite that has two bathrooms one with shower and one with out with two tables one in the middle which has five seats and the other has one seat. The beds are hard and firm so it's hard to fall asleep if you not use to firm or hard beds. The bathrooms are huge and you can walk around in them and their spacious also comes with trash cans and huge sinks and counters. The room comes with a TV, dressers, lamps, telephone and plenty of walking around room. The WIFI is a hit and mess some days it's fast and some days it's really slow not sure if it's on a satellite connection or not but it acts like it is when there is rain clouds coming about. The TV has a few channels but not much to choose from during the day and night time. Yes, the hotel is outdated and could use some upgrades such as the mattresses, flooring and better Internet connection if you can get it up here in the Mountains. Now for the bad part..Last night about 7pm a unknown person/guy ''supposedly from maintenance'' decided to come walking in on us and never say sorry for walking in or nothing just left and my father went to the front office and ask about it they claim he's a new employee and didn't know and we should be okay that he can come in with out knocking my father was like you need to tell the employees to learn to knock first before entering. The lobby staff didn't have a answer about it so if you choose to stay here or not. The laundry room closes early and it's always packed when there is only one person using it they only have one washer and dryer its packed at all time. The coffee in the rooms is nasty reminds me of Starbucks black coffee very dull and burnt. Over all experience of this place is three stars possible four if they wouldn't allow their staff just to walk in on you no matter what time it is. read more

Spent 4 days in Yellowstone and stayed here. Very comfortable. I stayed in the motel and my friends stayed in the lodge. Will say that the motel had standard lamps and not a lot of outlets, so bring long cords for your electronics. You may have to recharge one device at a time. But everything else very comfortable, and the heater warmed the room pretty quickly (temps were 27 to 54 my entire stay). The Three Bear Restaurant was outstanding. Available for breakfast and dinner. Everything freshly made. read more

This lodge is located in West Yellowstone, right in the heart of town and right by the YNP entrance. Location is very good. Service is great, very friendly and courteous. The rooms are decent and the bathrooms are clean. Good towels. Everything you need they have. No need to pack much because you can do your laundry right there. The three bear lodge restaurant serves good food, and it opens at 6:30. Definitely recommend this lodge and the package deal they offer. read more

came here to eat twice during our trip to yellowstone. the first time i got the spaghetti and they underserved me so badly (it was quite literally 5 bites of spaghetti) that i was still hangry afterwards, leaving my dear boyfriend to pick up the pieces at the hotel. so if you have hunger induced anger problems, do not get the spaghetti, or if you do, have a loved one tie you to a tree beforehand. the second time we came here i got the impossible burger. it was undercooked but i gaslit myself into liking it because i couldn't have a repeat of the spaghetti night for the sake of my relationship. decent atmosphere. read more

Kids and I spent two nights here during our Yellowstone Park trip, it was a perfect home base while at the West Entrance. We got a room in the motel part with two beds, we were able to park right outside our door and unload suitcases easily. Mini fridge in the room allowed us to keep our drinks and sandwiches cold for the next day's trek in to Yellowstone. Staff was super friendly, we arrived late and they stayed in the lobby waiting for us to check in. Lots of cool memorabilia and lodge history in the lobby area, apparently they do a lot of snowmobile business in the winter time. The Lodge is on Yellowstone Ave, you can easily walk to shops up and down the street. We were given breakfast vouchers to use at the lodge restaurant but we decided to eat at a pancake place in town instead. Nothing against the lodge restaurant, we just wanted legit pancakes instead! read more

I don't normally give low stars for something unless it's pretty bad. However; I cannot in good conscience give this place a high score on anything experienced. They get two stars because they are doing really well in the COVID world and being clean. But, check this out. We booked a room for 4 days and 3 nights. We booked a room with three beds that looked to be pretty large and looked like was at least 4 stars. We call a day in advance and apologize that we couldn't get someone to watch our dog so we had to bring her. They were understanding and kind and booked us the same "quality" room but one that allowed pets. Also, this room cost about $100 more per night which included their $25 dollar pet fee. So, we walk into our twice as expensive room, remember back to all these beautiful pictures annnnnnd we now have a room with two beds for 4 adults that is the size of a shoe box. Literally looks like was pulled directly out of the 60s. The air conditioner tries its hardest to cool the closet it is in but can't cool the rest of the shoe box and simply isn't worth the $200+ price tag that comes with the room. Also you get a "complimentary" breakfast. It lists ten items that are "complimentary" but what they don't tell you, it is really a coupon for $8 dollars off per person per meal. So, the breakfast burrito is $9, but on the list of "complimentary" items. Really though it would cost you $1 for the complimentary item. I normally do not complain, but seriously you're charging me over $100 more a night, which says costs $25 a night on their site and doesn't limit rooms, I lost space, I lost a bed and 4 adults now can't sleep comfortably like promised, is 50 degrees outside and my room is probably 86.7. Completely unacceptable to false advertise and then downgrade a room to bargain quality at 5 star prices. read more

I was going through some old pictures again, and it hit me that I never gave it a review. I stayed here three years ago, and I really liked both the restaurant and hotel. The beds were really clean, soft, and comfortable. The sheer cold of the neighborhood was a really great feature. I had a lot of fun just going outside and sitting in the 40 degree nights. I also ate at the restaurant, and that was a great experience. I hadn't eaten buffalo before here, and that was a really interesting experience. It was a really dry, smoky texture and taste, but I definitely would love to have it again. It was a really great experience. I'll definitely come stay here again if I get the chance to see Yellowstone again. read more

Best stay EVER! We enjoyed so many things about this lodge that I found it difficult to leave. The staff are as friendly as it gets, but the lodge itself is beyond compare. At first I was fascinated just reading the story boards posted all throughout, but then I bought Clyde Seely's autobiography and read the entire book while there. A fascinating life story, that's all I'll tell you. Several parts of his story brought tears to my eyes. The lodge was built with great care. Huge lodge poles, beams, and incredible stone work everywhere you look. Fresh free coffee all day (good coffee too), and the restaurant was one of the very best. In fact, we didn't bother eating anywhere else during our entire stay there. Stay here for a fraction of the cost of staying at Yellowstone. You won't regret it. Be sure to follow the historic trail, there are hidden gems everywhere (one of them is located within the Holiday Inn next door). I can't say enough how much we thoroughly enjoyed it. I want to go back and spend at least 2 weeks here, it was that wonderful. If you don't do anything else while visiting Yellowstone, be sure to stay here. A 5,000 mile round trip journey and I find my thoughts going back to 3 Bear. My only complaint is I wasn't able to meet Mr. Seely. Hopefully, I'll be back and see him on the next visit! read more

Then we had a snowmobile package and got our room moved to the lodge area and those rooms where much more larger but nice as well. We purchased a package for three nights in the lodge and an all day upper Yellowstone and an all day lower Yellowstone. The package for the two of us was somewhat expensive, but after comparing with other tour companies for just the tours, it turned out to be a fairly good deal. The package included breakfast each morning and one prime rib, seafood, or chicken dinner, a gift from the lodge gift shop and entrance to the nearby IMAX. The room in the lodge was very spacious with two queen beds. Everything was clean. There is a small fridge, microwave, A/C, desk and TV in the room. The desk chair wouldn't adjust and I felt like I was sitting on the floor. I ended up putting two pillows on the chair and I'm nearly 6' tall. Internet is through one of those non-secure connections where you log on through their web site. These really annoy me as I don't even feel safe to go get me e-mail. (I know I shouldn't on vacation, it's just that it stacks up so much while I'm gone.) The connection was very spotty, usually slow, and sometimes disconnected. Beds were comfortable; unfortunately the pillows were really hard. My wife likes to keep the room cold and the blanket and comforter were too thick so I'd get too hot and then pulling the comforter off it would be too cold. Finally, on our last night I found that sleeping with just the comforter it was just right (3 bears??). Staff was friendly and helpful. I would probably give it 3 1/2 stars if that were an option, but as part of the travel package it worked out to be very acceptable to us and I would recommend it. read more

There are many, many lodging options just outside the west gate of Yellowstone. It was tough to choose which place to stay at. The fact that they had a lounge and restaurant right next door sealed the deal. What a charming place to stay. All the employees are friendly and helpful. They put out coffee and hot water early each morning if you need that cup of coffee first thing when you wake up. The rooms are good sized and furnished with rustic, home made items. Breakfast was included at their restaurant. We weren't sure how that would work but it was great. There were around 10 items you could choose as your free breakfast, and your choice of beverage. You could also order anything off the menu and they would subtract $8 from your bill. We usually steer clear of restaurants in hotels but we figured we would try the free breakfast. The food was so good. And all the servers were very friendly. We didn't even consider having breakfast any where else during our stay. We had drinks in the lounge one day. The drinks were good and very reasonably priced. We liked breakfast so much we decided to go back for dinner one night. It was really good. And you had access to the lounge if you wanted a drink with your dinner. It was a really great experience. And only minutes from the west gate. I highly recommend the 3 Bear Lodge. read more

Three Bear Lodge was a nice stay, other than the poor water pressure in the shower, but my complaint is aimed at the buffet. The first day, they had these delicious, big crispy potatoes, however for the rest of the duration of the trip they had smaller, frozen reheated potatoes. I don't know why they switched them. Thats not what made this a 3 star review. What did affect my review was what happened with the buffet in the morning yesterday. The buffet says it opens at 6:30. It's way past that and the door is still locked. Mostly elderly, and families were waiting outside in the cold. However, there's another side for the people staying in the more expensive lodge that opened way before us. They were sitting down, getting their foods etc. while we were all stuck in the cold way past opening time. People began getting upset and started banging on the door and apparently they forgot about us. That wasn't cool. However the days that Steve is working, have always been smooth! Steve is friendly, provides great service, and makes everyone's experiences easy or efficient! He always opens on time. If you go to the buffet hopefully Steve is working! read more

I can't say enough great things about Three Bears Lodge! First of all, Kayla is fabulous! She went out of her way to accommodate our family!! She rescued us from a horrible motel down the street we were supposed to be staying at. TBL has personal touches all over the lobby, I enjoyed reading the owners journey from buying the lodge until today and I especially loved reading about how the fireplace was built in the lobby! The restaurant next door has a delicious breakfast, the rooms were clean and plenty of room for our big family. I have now stayed here for the 2nd time. I was here with an outdoor adventure with Sheep Dog Impact Assistance. Both times we had large groups and they really took care of us. In addition to their professionalism, they made me feel like I was one of the family. I will always stay here when I visit West Yellowstone. Their snowmobile guides are amazing! Very knowledgeable about the park and taking us through the national trails. They made everyone from beginners to advanced feel comfortable, safe and cared for. We stayed at 3BL twice in the past decade. The rooms are well sized, especially if you are in a suite. The one bedrooms do not have a door to the bedroom area so privacy is limited. Suites comes with two sinks and one bathroom. Street parking is never a problem, and you get a $10 voucher per person for breakfast with your stay. The fridge is decent sized and lets you store food from the local supermarket and reheat left overs the in the microwave. I recommend grocery shopping for non-refrigerated foods before coming up as the local selection is limited. The food at the restaurant is delicious though the service is spotty depending on your waitstaff. The wait can be 30 minutes plus on the weekends. Which is crazy because Timberline just 5 minutes down the street is just as good and has no wait. Sit in Shannon's area if you can as she is possibly the best waitress in West Yellowstone. As another reviewer have said- some of the staff are suspiciously slow around minorities. The heated pool is great for kids and is very clean. A couple of negatives- the beds are really soft and springy and may be an issue if you have a bad back. Room service failed to change towels on one occasion and forgot to replenish toiletries on another. The front desk staff is friendly and won't make eye contact when you enter and leave which is nice if you are not a social butterfly. 3BL is a two star experience at a 3 star price, but for West Yellowstone, that is to be expected. read more

Don't expect a 4 star but a solid 3 star basic no frills room. The breakfast in the restaurant is cooked to order. The full stack of pancakes was delish. I chose this motel because it has an attached restaurant and includes breakfast.I take care of my unvaccinated grandchildren and do not feel comfortable eating indoors.I was told by the staff that I could not get any food to go from the restaurant,so I basically could not have the so called free breakfasts.It also would have been nice after a long day of sightseeing to get food to go for dinner.The beds were comfortable and the location was good but I would not stay here again.With this Delta variant surging what possible good reason can there be for this dine in only policy? Fantastic staff, but...for the price we paid for an "upgraded" lodge room I expected a much nicer room. We have stayed in beautiful hotels in the most exotic places and didn't pay as much as this. Our room was clean, but felt dingy with the old carpet and bedspread. The front desk staff and the restaurant staff were excellent - very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included and was a good size meal and beverage included. We enjoyed Yellowstone very much, but in hindsight, I would've stayed in Gardiner. read more

We stayed in the "Lodge" - which is very convenient to the entrance to Yellowstone park as well as tourist shops and restaurants. For the price, we were expecting more, but given that West Yellowstone is a tourist town, with few name-brands, the hotel was ok. Our room wasn't ready when we tried to check in (3pm) so we waited in the kitschy Montana lodge-style lobby about 30 minutes. We noticed that none of the staff were wearing face masks, despite the posted requirements for masks on the front door. Our room was VERY dated with clunky wooden furniture and creepy-lit lamps. The carpet was rumply. Beds were, well... not as comfy as I like, but my husband didn't complain. As noted in another review, our room was clean but just felt dingy with the old carpet & bedspread. read more
