Then when the haircut proceeds, I only feel a few snips, but didn't think anything of it. Stylist starts to style my hair, and I didn't think much of it and gave them full faith. When I got home and put on my glasses, I saw my bangs were TERRIBLE. I went to First Choice to get them fixed, and the stylist there asked me if I had cut my bangs myself! I told her that I had just come from another salon. She inspected the rest of my hair to point out to me that my hair WASN'T EVEN CUT. She fixed me up, thank god. I emailed and called Sound about a refund, and they wanted to get me in to get it fixed--but I had already gotten it fixed somewhere else. They refused to give me a refund and said there was nothing else they could do. Would you go back to a business where the senior staff--who is training other employees--royally ruined your bangs? And I would like to point out, that I paid full price for a haircut that I didn't even get! Lesson learned. Would not recommend. Will never go there again.

She's also extremely tactful and somehow manages to convince me the "straight-across bangs" I want would be hideous for my face shape without making me feel like an idiot. Their soundtrack always rocks. Regina Spektor followed by Fiona Apple? I love it. If anything, their complimentary head massage alone is worth coming for. I'm not kidding, I have to refrain from telling my masseuse to STFU while his/her fingers are delicately rubbing my poor exhausted head so I can completely immerse myself in the moment. If you get your hair dyed, they'll even give you a free foot soak. I've never felt so feminine as I have with feet dipped in hot, fizzing water while hair is wrapped in a towel and flipping through beauty magazines. Gives the illusion of luxury. I also once had a make-up lesson here, and ended up spending a fair chunk of my pay cheque (back when I had a job) on make-up and other goods. That was almost a year ago, and I still have most of the items laying around in good shape. All their products are completely high quality and nature-friendly. Read: expensive, but worth it.

This time around, I decided to just drop by and try a different hairstylist (Courtney) and it turned out to be a bad decision. The place was nice to give me a call to say my haircut is delayed by 15min and that was the only positive this time round. Courtney spent only 15min total on my cut and shampoo. For a men's haircut of $34 including taxes, this is the first time I felt I have been ripped off at a hair salon with such a short cut time. I would have expected 30min at least. Not only was the haircut rushed, she did not ask me whether I liked the cut or whether she cut it right. The basic requirements of bringing out a mirror for the customer to see the back of my hair was not even provided. Furthermore, if my haircut was already delayed, at least provide some courtesy of paying more quality attention to the cut instead of trying to make up for your lost time from other customers using my paid time. For such a service and price, I would have just gone to a cheap hair salon instead. If you were to ever go to Hair Factory at Cavendish Sq, give Courtney a pass and get China.

On the other hand my haircut experience was a one. If I could give it a 0 I would because it was such a disappointment. Stylist that I had was very preoccupied with the client that she had before me. Left me a few times. I feel that I was overcharged for my service, I do not feel that the shampoo that I was given was very good and I had a basic haircut. She blew dry my hair and did not flat iron it or didn't even show me the back in the mirror to check to see if I was happy and sent me on my way. However the hairstylist did not once tell me that the hairstyle could not be attained and did this to my hair instead, and I feel like it should have been disclosed BEFORE he started styling my hair. The owner herself did my consult! They went above and beyond! I went in again, and was treated amazing like the first time! The owner came in on her day off to cut my hair. She spent a lot of time on me, letting me know exactly what she was doing and why. She answered all my questions, made me comfortable and was so friendly.
