Terri is a wonderful hairstylist and my son and I love this salon- we have been going here for years now.

Just got home from my appointment and OMG YAY I finally found someone who understands my curly hair!!! Thanks to Jessica for a great day. Fantastic cut, beautiful color, I couldn't be happier! Also let me say the vibe in this place is super positive. It felt supportive and lighthearted and fun. Fantastic team!! read more

I had a root touch up and color balance. The service I received was great. The atmosphere is great. The hair color is touched up, but it isn't vibrant. Another thing that is noticeably different is the smell of the hair color and the shampoo. Everywhere I have been to before, good and bad experiences, I have always left with great smelling hair. This time was noticeably different in that there is absolutely no smell. Not even that just washed my hair smell. Also lacking is the shine. Even my husband noticed. He said it was done, but just dull. I am middle aged, and have never done my own color, and the result is just okay. I decided on this salon because it was on the salon locator for Aveda. My usual go to's in a new area are a salon that used Oribe products or a salon that uses Aveda. Maybe I should have specified. read more

When I moved to the small town of Poulsbo from a city of over million and half in June, 2009, it was assumed that I would have to give up the luxury of a talented hair stylist and a lovely salon. With trepidation, I made an appointment to have my hair styled and colored with Terri, the owner of Head Hunters in early 2010. The salon was as charming and unpretentious as Terri was talented and knowledgeable. I had found a small-town salon with big city attitude! This is what I love about Head Hunters, Poulsbo, WA: (1) Offers both LOreal AND Aveda products (2) Beautiful setting on Liberty Bay (3) Casual atmosphere; yet, professional (4) Artistic and accomplished stylists. I have been having my hair colored, cut, and styled by Terri for over a year and half; yet, every time I sit down in her chair, she queries me about what I want that is new and different. She never assumes I want the same old hair style. Terri creates flattering and easy-care hair styles for me, the lady with extremely straight, thin, and fine hair. Kudos to Terri and her salon. read more

Randy is a Genius! She finally did what I have been asking all of the other stylists in the area to do! She listens extremely well, understands what I am trying to say, and her passion for this industry shines through with both Color And Cut! I just moved to Bainbridge Island from San Diego, and have been trying out places in both Bainbridge Island and Poulsbo. After spending almost double in Bainbridge Island for so-so experiences with my hair appointments, I was astounded when I found Randy at Such a reasonable price! This salon is truly lucky to have her, as she is doing LA and NY sophistication at seriously inexpensive prices! I have FINALLY found a regular woman to go to for my picky hair needs! She is down to earth, doesn't chat your ear off, and really focuses on the work! The neck massage in the shampoo bowl was also sublime. read more

In case I haven't mentioned I have a thing for Aveda Salons, and the Head Hunter is no exception. I found this little gem through a friend- which is typically how I prefer finding salons. Positive word of mouth recommendations trump flashy marketing plans any day. And when the recommendation is for an Aveda Concept Salon it's a triple thrill for me. It's like I already know they'll be amazing, but then having someone else confirm what I already know makes me kind of giddy. Since I wasn't too pleased with my last salon misadventure I couldn't wait for my appointment. I made my appointment with Tina because word on the street is she's a hair disaster fixer maven. I brought in my usual pile of pictures and rambled went on and on about long layers, highlights, keeping length but getting rid of dry, split ends. Tina listened and translated my every word into official salon jargon (what level is that lightener again?) with ease and got to work. Even though I no longer live in the area I would highly recommend the Salon as well as Tina... she's awesome! read more

I am new to the area and was having a very hard time finding a new salon to have my hair done. I even went to Seattle, but everyone was booked up. A colleague suggested The Head Hunter and I called them. They made an appointment for me, the owner even stayed late in order to get me in. Wow! Terri you did an amazing job with my hair! I'm very picky and nervous going to new places, but I can honestly say this is about one of the best color jobs I've ever had. Thank you Terri so much for the excellent work, and going above and beyond to accommodate me. Jeneane read more

This salon was referred on the Aveda website. I did some research and decided to go with Tina Pond as my stylist. So happy I did!!! Her work was wonderful and she was very knowledgeable (she is now at Madison Sparks in Silverdale). As for the salon they have made some BIG changes during the year and half I would go there. The owner, Teri, explained to me she was not happy with Aveda's support and has switched emphasis to Loreal's INOA hair color. Though the hair color is nice - it takes twice as long to get your hair colored. I am used to actual Aveda salons that have more to offer when it comes to the product and customer service. Aveda seems to be an afterthought here. The salon just does not have the Aveda vibe that always makes you feel pampered and special. Head Hunter has the same vibe as a chain salon but with different decor. When I called last time to make an appointment I was told Tina was no longer there. When I asked where she moved to they would not give that information. This is normally a common courtesy extended by most salons. Not giving this information made for more disappointment with this salon. read more

Best salon ever! What an awesome team of energetic and professional artists, every time I've been there I find it hard to leave. The best stylists using the best products (they're masters with INOA. yay!) and offering the best energy I've seen in a while. I would recommend this salon to EVERYONE, if you're not here, you're missing out :) Keep the good work ladies! read more

Went in as a hot mess, but Liz and Terri both consulted on my hair and explained what I needed to do to get the style I wanted. They were so friendly and attentive to what I was asking and wanting. On the day of my perm Liz took care and time to ensure no details were looked over. The perm turned out amazing and I couldn't be happier. This was my first experience in Head Hunters and it will not be my last. Thank you for creating an inviting atmosphere and really listening to what I wanted for my hair. read more

Being new to the area (I'm in the military), I have been hesitant to break down and find a new salon. This is it! I saw Danielle for a cut and color and she was amazing! She listened to me and transformed my idea into the most gorgeous shade of blonde and the cute short cut I have been longing since moving to WA. She will definitely be my new go-to girl. This was my first trip to an Aveda salon and I was definitely impressed! read more

This place is fun, clean, and the service is top notch! That is about all I look for in a salon and they do it and do it well.

I am not sure why yelp keeps deleting my review! I went in last Friday and asked Randy to cover the grey and blend the grow out. Neither was done. Once I returned home, under the fluorescent lights, I quickly realized that my hair was barely touched. I paid $180 and am completely unsatisfied. You can't even tell that I went to the Salon! I went to this place on a referral, so take mine--- go somewhere, anywhere else. Terri, the owner, will not refund me. She insists that I allow her stylist to fix her errors (she only works on Fridays) and pay even more. She also texted me that she can't "deal" with me until she comes back into the Country! Sure, I did come in last Friday, let's wait until you come back at some point this month... Yet, your stylists could take my cash unsupervised...#ProfitsBeforeCustomers UPDATE: Upon Terri's return to the USA, she told me that she won't refund me. Her latest excuse is because in her hair business industry, there are no refunds. #ExpensiveMistake #LearnFromMe read more

The worst haircut of my life. Stylist did not listen to what I wanted and cut my hair as she thought it should be cut. I was offered a "free fix" but when its already much shorter (only on one side may I add) than I asked for, no fix is possible unless my hair can be glued back on. When I asked for my money back, I was denied. Consulted other Salon Owners to research their protocol with these cases and a refund for an unsatisfactory haircut is normal when the customer does not opt for the "free fix". read more

I got my hair cut by Randy today. She was probably the most polite and professional stylist I've met. She listened to what I wanted and made some great suggestions, and she even gave me some tips when styling at home. She also didn't pressure me into buying anything that I didn't need or into scheduling out my next appointment. I feel like that's the norm nowadays. She did an excellent job on my hair and I would certainly recommend this place! read more

I had a cut and color this weekend with Terri and have gotten so many compliments at work this week! Terri gave me a shorter cut that perfectly frames my face and took my color into the holidays with a rich, warm brown with beautiful tones throughout. I love it! Ready for holiday parties! read more

What a poor response to an unhappy customer. I won't be visiting this salon. Very unprofessional.

I am sure everyone here is lovely, but my husband had an awful experience. I made the appointment based on the Yelp reviews but I believe we also scheduled his cut with the apprentice mentioned earlier ( it was for men's cut - shouldn't be difficult...took 55 mins and he will need a remedial cut - I won't go into the gory details of his experience). He sent the attached picture to me as a result. Obviously not up to any minimum standards of a men's cut. Terri asked if we could come in at 745 so she could fix it after I called and expressed that I was very unhappy (for context we live in Bainbridge and I work in Seattle). But Good enough. We got to the salon around 715 and when I confirmed around 725 I'd only have to wait for another 20 minutes, Terri said it'd be more like 35-40. Having enough of this mess, I pulled her aside and asked for a refund. I showed her the attached picture. And my main point of feedback here was that she didn't acknowledge it was really bad. Which makes me question her judgment. She gave a refund and didn't say a word. Never acknowledging a) how much time we lost to address this b) that this haircut really sucked c) she was sorry. Terri, you have to step it up. I'm sure the apprentice will get better and she is on the better part of the learning curve and is a super sweet gal, but overall customer service is below average. Way below. read more

I got my hair cut my Myla last week and love it! I have gotten so many compliments on it since. She checked to make sure the length of my hair, layers and bangs were what I wanted and did not seem like she was rushing to get to another customer like some stylists do. I will definitely be back! read more

I had Lindsey cut my hair( love her) and as always she did an awesome job! In and out within the hour including style.

It's difficult to write this review because I am torn over whether or not I would go back. First the good stuff! The salon is small, but very cozy and inviting. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. My first visit to the salon was for a cut and color with Danielle. She was very sweet and listened to what I wanted attentively. She helped me select a great hair color which I ended up loving. My only slight issue with it now is that the color faded much more quickly than my previous hair color from a different salon. Next was my haircut. Overall, I have to say, I don't love it, but I don't hate it. I don't feel like the layers blend well and the more I try and style it the less sense I can make of what style it should really be. I have a bit of a mushroom effect going on with the shortest layer which then goes into more layers that seem a bit too choppy. Yes, it is my fault for not speaking up when the cut was done, but my hair grows very quickly and I was hoping as it grew out I would like it more. She did solve my split/dry ends problem and my hair looked very healthy and shiny when I left. My next visit was for a tawkk deal for a warm stone massage with Michael. My personal preference is normally to choose a female masseuse, but this massage was a Mother's Day gift from my husband and I was extremely grateful for the gift and decided to go anyway. I have nothing but good things to say about Michael. He was professional and made me feel very comfortable and the hot stone massage was absolute BLISS! I can't believe how quickly the hour flew by and I would go back to Michael for another massage as well as recommend him to anyone. My small critique would be about the atmosphere of the massage room. The lights were a bit brighter than I prefer, but not a big deal. The location of the massage room is not ideal. During my massage I had to work hard to mentally block out the sounds at the reception desk, the salon chatter, the footsteps above the room that I assume were from a different business upstairs, and the sounds of car doors opening and closing in the parking lot just outside of the massage room. The rest of the Tawk deal included a small Aveda hand lotion (awesome!), a personally blended bottle of body wash (very nice, though Aveda fragrances are not quite my cup of tea) & chocolate peanut bark from Chocmo (I love chocolate, this particular kind was not that great). All in all a great value for those 3 items plus the 1 hr stone massage for only 72 dollars! NICE! read more

A good friend of mine was getting married this past weekend and myself being one of the bridesmaids was tasked with researching and finding a great local salon to get our hair done. Out of the group of the three of us, I have always had a flair for fun hair so taking on this task excited me. I found The Head Hunter on Yelp, saw the great reviews, and proceeded to have a fellow bridesmaid make reservations for the three of us. To be fair, the other two bridesmaids had great experiences, but sadly mine wasn't so great. I came in with a picture of an idea I wanted. Nothing too crazy complicated - just a half up type style with a loose braid on one side pulled into the half up part and the rest of the hair down with loose beachy waves/curls. My hair itself isn't too intimidating...I have a few different colors in it and some layers - but other than that it is pretty average long fine-ish hair. For some reason the stylist I had assigned to me had a really hard time. First off, the curls she did first fell right out. I tried to tell her/coach her that my hair would need spray or a chance to set. The braid also seemed to really throw her for a loop. She had to redo it several times. I also (as in the picture) asked for side swept soft bangs. I ended up with a more vintage 50s look with a hard curl - this wasn't what I asked for. The other woman working on the other two bridesmaids had finished both girls in the time my stylist struggled with me. I was beginning to get very nervous that I would be late for pictures and helping the bride get ready. The style I ended up with really wasn't what I had in time but there was no more time to spare to attempt to fix it. No half up style should take an hour and 20 minutes. Frankly, that is ridiculous. My stylist seemed more of an "apprentice" verses a professional stylist. Luckily, about an hour and 10 minutes in the owner/lead stylist came to my rescue seeing my stylist floundering (thank you). She jumped in and did what she could to get my hair to hold a curl pinning it to let the curls set instructing me to take them out and spray right before pictures. By the time I took out the curls my hair had already been messed with so much (multiple curling attempts and hair spray layers) - nothing really seemed to hold. I wish my stylist would have asked for help earlier if what I asked for was "out of her league." She really didn't seem ready or to have the skill set to do formal hair. I should have been out the door in 40 min tops for a style of such nature (probably less time). Then I could have left and had more time to help the bride. Just frustrating and a let down. Not the experience I had hoped to have or expected based on other Yelp reviews I had read. Honestly, I could have done a better job on my hair myself and saved the $50 to sit in a chair for an hour and 20 min to have may hair turn out nothing like I asked. I hope that my experience can be used as a learning experience and this can be avoided for future clients. Sadly, that future client won't be me. read more

This is an amazing and beautiful salon, over the course of the last 4 years, I have been with every stylist that works there. The staff is always super helpful, and committed to giving you the best service they can. I have been seen for "emergencies" at last minute, and they have even stayed late/opened early to help me out. They used to be an Aveda Concept Salon, and now they carry INOA. As an Aveda junkie, they made that transition as easy as possible for me, and still carry the Aveda products that I love to use. They recently remodeled the inside, even though it was already beautiful, just to keep your visits interesting. They have never made me feel uncomfortable for bringing my son, as they are a family friendly salon. They offer you snacks, and refreshments, and mimosas on the weekends. They are always giving free samples out, and thank you gifts as well. They love to decorate the salon for different holidays, and always have specials going on. (Make sure you don't miss the mocha brownies at Christmas time!!) Terri the owner is ALWAYS asking if you need anything/how your service is going, and is always giving tips on hair care. They offer a TON of products, but aren't pretentious or forceful in recommending them to you. All the staff members are helpful, fun, trendy, and knowledgeable. I always feel good about myself when I leave there, and I always feel like they genuinely are happy to see me when I arrive. This is not a typical or "run of the mill" salon. If you are looking for your hair "home", this is definitely the place to go. read more

I am somewhat new to the area and was referred to Terri by a mutual friend so I decided to see her for a cut and color. My thick curly hair was well overdue for both. She was great. From the minute I sat in her chair she knew things about my hair I hadn't been able to explain to other hairstylists. The cut is great. She paid close attention to how my curls curl and how to layer them. The color is great too. She took used 2 tones and put a foil in my bangs. All this attention was at a reasonable price too. I can't remember the last time I felt this good after a hair cut. read more

I think I've been going to Head Hunter for about 5 years now. I started with Tina, who was great with hair cuts and moved to Alix, who was great with color. Now both of those gals are gone and I've moved on to Lindsey and Danielle and have started bringing my daughter here as well. The stylist all seem to have their strengths and weeknesses, but I can count on consistantly walking out of that place looking much better than when I walked in, regardless of who the stylist has been. I love the mocha brownie mix that we get eacho holiday season and I love that they are an Aveda Concept salon, (that was the whole reason I found them). After recieving an amazing hair cut and color from Habitude on the 'other side of the water', I was in search of Aveda and this was the treasure I found. This is much more affordable than Habitude and they use the same products....they've even started beefing up the head massage that we get while getting the shampoo. I like how Habitude would give us a little shoulder massage while in the salon chair, but for the price difference, I'm okay with not having one. All in all, I've never walked out in tears and the stylist don't make you feel stupid for asking for what you want. The people are friendly and skilled. Go here. ;) read more

New to the area and was so excited to have an Aveda salon nearby. Unfortunately after my haircut with Terri, the owner, I will never go back to this place. She gave me the worst hair cut I've ever had - I don't even know why I paid for it. It was THAT BAD. It didn't help that her baby was sitting in the middle of the floor playing while she was "trying" to work. So not professional. Drive a few extra miles to Seaport Salon and Spa in Silverdale and get a real haircut at a real Aveda salon. I went there so they could fix my mess and they did a great job. read more
